Description

Do you live in or near Cambridge, England?

Do you write fiction set in other worlds or times: fantasy, science fiction, historical?

Would you like to meet other writers over a coffee to critique work and talk about writing?

If you can answer yes to all three questions, we'd love to hear from you!

The Cambridge Writers of Imaginative Literature is a writing workshop (based in Cambridge, UK) for aspiring/perspiring writers of science fiction, fantasy, and essentially any other kind of fiction set in a reality, environment, or time that is likely to be different from the one its readers inhabit. Beginners, pros, and everyone in between are welcome!

Our basic modus operandi is to select a particular submission of around 5000-7000 words for review at fortnightly meetings. Submissions are distributed electronically (via this Yahoo Group) in advance for reviewers to print out on their own and scribble on. Then oral feedback (and marked up copy) is returned by each member to the author at the meetings. We don't do online critique, so you really need to be local to take part!

If you want to join us, please contact the Moderator of this group, who will provide you with information on the next CWIL meeting in Cambridge, UK. Because the CWIL Yahoo! filespace is used to distribute and store the work of active CWIL members, requests to join the CWIL Yahoo! Group can only be approved for people who are going to participate in CWIL's biweekly meetings. (It's naught personal, you see, but it would be unethical for us to just indiscrimately expose members' drafts to scrounging web-bots or the Googling masses ;)
