D o you know of anyone that you should "tip off" about this?

*2010 Census to Begin*

WARNING: 2010 Census Cautions from the Better Business Bureau

Be Cautious About Giving Info to Census Workers by Susan Johnson

With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau
(BBB) advises people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a
victim of fraud or identity theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census
is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households
across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000 U.S. Census workers will
count every person in the United States and will gather information about
every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and
other relevant data.

The big question is - how do you tell the difference between a U.S. Census
worker and a con artist? BBB offers the following advice:

** If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a
handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice.
Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their
questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don't know into your
home.

** Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address
information. Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or
banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S.
. Census.

REMEMBER, NO MATTER WHAT THEY ASK, YOU REALLY ONLY NEED TO TELL THEM HOW
MANY PEOPLE LIVE AT YOUR ADDRESS..

While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a
salary range, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL
SITUATION. The Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security, bank
account, or credit card numbers, nor will employees solicit donations. Any
one asking for that information is NOT with the Census Bureau.

AND REMEMBER, THE CENSUS BUREAU HAS DECIDED NOT TO WORK WITH ACORN ON
GATHERING THIS INFORMATION.. No Acorn worker should approach you saying
he/she is with the Census Bureau.

Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person
at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by Email, so be on
the lookout for Email scams impersonating the Census.

Never click on a link or open any attachments in an Email that are
supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau.

PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS

anyone ever seen it? I saw an episode for the first time a couple days ago,
and thought it was pretty good! I was going to watch the nxt episode, but
was too tired lol.

It was the one where the baby got stolen by a woman who supposedly had had a
miscarriage, and something, I think they called it PostPartum Bipolar
Disorder, or something like that. She claimed that she knew she did
something bad, but had no memory of doing everything she did. U cant tell me
u won't have memory of the 72 hrs u had someone else's baby!

Luckily, Ms Torres got 20, 30 yrs in prison, so that baby Abby will be an
adult and hopefully safe and able to defend herself if this women tried to
find her.

Subject: The Mantell incident

The F-51D Mustang came plummeting out of the sky like a sick bird. At the
last second it tried to pull out of its fatal dive, but it was too late.
Nine-thousand pounds of steel, glass and rubber disintegrated in the air
then slammed into the ground. The wings and tail tore off and were thrown
thousands of feet from the body of the aircraft. When the smoking fuselage
finally came to rest on a farm field in Franklin, Kentucky, Air Force
Captain Thomas F. Mantell, a pilot with 2867 hours of flight experience, was
dead. But why did he die?

The story starts several hours earlier on January 7th, 1948, at 1:45 P.M..
Calls had been coming in to the Godman Air Force Base in Kentucky from
nearby Fort Knox about a UFO. Sargent Quinton Blackwell, chief operator at
the Godman control tower, had just spotted the object himself. Later he
recalled that it resembled "an ice cream cone topped with red." The tower
crew called the operations officer, Captain Gary Carter, and pointed the
object out to him. Carter, in turn, called Colonel Guy Hix, the commanding
officer.

At 2:20 PM a flight of four F-51D aircraft approached Godman en-route from
Marietta AFB to Standiford AFB. The flight, led by Captain Mantell, was
requested by the Godman tower to investigate the object. Mantell agreed and
started climbing. Two other Mustangs went with him. The fourth, low on fuel,
continued on to Standiford.

At 14,000 feet Mantell reported, "The object is directly ahead of me and
above me now, moving at about half my speed."

The three planes rose together nearing 22,000 feet. Because the air is so
thin at high altitudes, pilots in planes with non-pressurized cabins
operating above 14,000 feet are required to use oxygen masks. Without
supplementary oxygen a pilot can became delirious and blackout. Two of the
Mustangs broke off the pursuit because their oxygen tanks were low. Mantell,
apparently believing he was getting enough oxygen, kept going.

Around 3:15 some of the tower crew thought they heard Mantell say, "It
appears to be a metallic object or possible reflections of sun from a
metallic object, and it is of tremendous size. I'm still climbing, the
object is above and ahead of me moving at my speed or faster. I'm trying to
close for a better look."

Further messages from the pilot were garbled and shortly afterward all
contact was lost. At 3:50PM the Godman tower lost sight of the UFO, too.

At about 5 PM the remains of Mantell's plane was found scattered across a
farm (*right*). The Air Force investigation determined that Mantell had
probably lost consciousness, due to lack of oxygen when his plane hit 25,000
feet. The aircraft may have continued to climb till it reached 30,000 feet,
its limit, then nose-dived. As it raced toward the ground Mantell may have
recovered his senses and tried to pull up, but it was too late. The forces
of the dive were too high and the plane came apart while still in the air.

There were rumors that the plane had been shot down by a UFO, or that the
Russians had caused the crash, or that the body was missing from the
cockpit, or that wreckage was highly radioactive. They were all false.

A mystery did remain. If Mantell had blacked out and crashed chasing
something, just what was he chasing? The Air Force suggested several
explanations.

First, was that the object was the planet Venus. While Venus is often
mistaken for a UFO, it seems unlikely in this case. Another explanation was
that the object was a weather balloon. Given Mantell's description, though,
a typical weather balloon seems much too small.

Another explanation offered by Professor Donald Menzel was that the object
was an optical illusion known as a "sundog." Sundogs, or "parhelion" as they
are also called, are the result of sunlight being reflected off ice crystals
high in the sky. They can appear as a large, bright object. This theory
seems flawed, though, as the object was spotted from several different
locations at different directions and the sundog is dependent on the viewer,
the ice, and the sun, being in particular positions relative to one another.

Years later a more likely possibility surfaced. During that period the Navy
was running a top secret program named "Skyhook." It involved the use of
very large balloons at very high altitudes to measure cosmic rays. It has
been suggested that Mantell was chasing one of these balloons. Since the
Skyhook balloons operated at much higher altitudes (60,000 feet) than the
Mustang could obtain, Mantell could never have overtaken it.

Still, it is impossible to prove for sure what Mantell saw. There were
reports of a UFO later that same day over Ohio. Too far for a skyhook
balloon to have drifted in such a short time.

Police: Teen missing since 1954 was slain
Family of Dorothy Gay Howard saw decades pass without word from her
  The Associated Press
updated 2:38 p.m. ET, Wed., Nov . 4, 2009

PHOENIX - A young woman buried as Jane Doe in Colorado 55 years ago. An
Arizona family puzzled and saddened as Dorothy Gay Howard's disappearance
stretched into decades.

It took a historian, a detective and a determined family member to make the
connection after more than a half century that these two people were one and
the same.

Howard's younger sister, Marlene Howard Ashman, the last surviving member of
the immediate family, was relieved last month when authorities announced the
identification.

"It was just complete and utter shock," said Ashman, who lives in Mena,
Ark., but spoke from Newport, N.C., where she was visiting her daughter.

"All these 55 years, I guess I learned as a child to put it in an abstract
form so I could deal with it; it's easier to accept," Ashman said.

*‘The horrible death’*
But the younger sister is grappling with the fact that Howard was slain and
is aching to know who killed her.

"Now that I know, it isn't so much that she died, but the horrible death,"
she said.

Boulder County Sheriff's Detective Steve Ainsworth, the lead investigator in
the case, said Howard died of blunt-force trauma. She couldn't be identified
because her body was found a week after she was killed, and animals had
damaged her face and fingers.

At the time, the mystery made headlines across Colorado, and Boulder
residents raised enough money to buy her a gravestone, which read "Jane Doe
— April 1954 — Age About 20 Years."

Boulder County sheriff's officials have credited historian Silvia Pettem
with encouraging them to renew efforts to identify Jane Doe. Pettem became
interested in the woman and her story after visiting the cemetery in the
1990s and writing the book "Someone's Daughter, In Search of Justice for
Jane Doe."

Meanwhile, Howard's grandniece Michelle Marie Fowler decided to contact
Ainsworth after reading an article about Jane Doe and suspecting for years
that Howard had been killed.

Ainsworth asked Ashman to provide a DNA sample, and the family learned Oct.
23 that Ashman and Jane Doe were related.

Ainsworth said it was gratifying to tell Howard's family what had happened
to her, but he now has a new focus.

*‘There's still another mystery’*
"We know who she is, but there's still another mystery and that may be the
biggest mystery of all, and that's who did it," Ainsworth said.

He said his gut tells him it was serial killer Harvey Glatman, who was
executed in 1959 in California. Glatman, who confessed to killing three
women, had served time in a Colorado state prison for violent assaults on
women, including one about a quarter of a mile from where Howard's body was
found.

Because of marks on her body, evidence at the scene and a passing reference
Glatman made to a California police detective, Ainsworth's theory is that
Glatman hit Howard with his car as she tried to get away. Now, Ainsworth
just has to prove it.

Ashman said all she wants is justice for her sister.

She said Howard was extremely strong-willed and lived quite a life in her 18
years, including marrying twice. "Once she decided on a course, it would
take heaven and earth to stop her," Ashman said.

Petite and attractive with blond hair, Howard was the oldest of three
sisters born in the Texas Panhandle. The girls' parents moved the family to
Phoenix in 1942 for "greener pastures."

*Married at age 15*
Howard married her first husband at age 15 with her parents' permission, but
she got divorced and remarried unbeknownst to her family, Ashman said. The
family found out about the second marriage years after Howard disappeared.

Howard was working as a live-in nanny in Phoenix the last her family heard
from her; they reported her missing when she didn't show up to take one of
her sisters to the movies.

Because Howard was so willful and had run away from home once before, Ashman
said the family thought she just didn't want to see them again. "We always
waited to hear from her," she said.

Ashman still has a letter that her sister wrote to her parents soon before
she disappeared.

"She just said, 'Here's some money to help out,'" Ashman said. "She signed
it, 'Love always, Dot.'"

She claimed that a man had sold her a rock of crack cocaine, but when she brought it home, it "looked like baking powder." The police dispatched a narcotics agent to her house, who tested the rock and verified that, despite its appearance, it was indeed cocaine. The woman was promptly arrested for drug possession. I found this book, The Sleeping Lady. It is about murders on Mount
Tamalpais to Santa Cruz
in California. It was written by Robert Graysmith They (the
murders) happened in the seventies. I grew up in Oakland, California. These
did happen after my family moved near San Jose.
Almost every weekend during the warm months, my whole family would meet
there for picnics. We would play in the caressing waters of Lake
Tamalpais. I have never had any idea of the history of this beautiful
location. But after I read this book, I am going to be looking into its
past. I love the little bit of info about the Indians who inhabited the
foothills of the mountain.

William Randolph Hearst established his New York Journal in 1895 to vie with Pulitzer's papers in sensationalism and in circulation. The ensuing contest, with its banner headlines, lavish pictures, emotional exploitation of news -- in short, “yellow journalism” -- reached notorious heights in the treatment of the Spanish-American War. Later the World became more restrained and the outstanding Democratic organ in the United States, although it somet
