***Ukraine can not believe it downed russian passenger plane
Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office deems it necessary to lift from the
Black Sea bottom the wreckage of the Russian Tu-154 downed by a Ukrainian
missile, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun said on Thursday in
Odessa.
In his words, Ukraine "sent a letter to the Russian Prosecutor General's
Office asking for help in the legal field." Piskun noted that to hold a
technical expertise, additional materials are needed. According to the
prosecutor, "there is certain damage to be examined", that's why the
Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office asks Russians to help lift the
wreckage of the aircraft.
Meanwhile, a lot of experts have opined that an operation to lift the Tu-154
wreckage from a 2,000 m depth is impossible.
The plane was downed on October 4th, 2001 by a Ukrainian S-200 missile
launched during anti-aircraft defense exercises in the Crimea. The
catastrophe killed 78 people - 66 passengers, mostly Israelis, and 12 crew.

***Five ukrainian gelerals brought to trial for crash of russian plane over
Black sea
During the investigation into the crash of the Russian liner Tu-154 downed
on October 4th, 2001, over the Black Sea by a Ukrainian missile, Ukraine's
Prosecutor General's Office "brings charges against five generals of the
country's army", Ukrainian Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun said on
Thursday in Odessa.
In his words, "to complete the investigation of the case, involving five
accused Ukrainian army generals, we need the conclusions of a technical
expertise." The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office demands that the
technical expertise be conducted not only on the wreckage the size of 2.5m
on 1.5m, but on as many plane fragments as possible, Piskun said.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Atamanyuk said that a
pre-trial inquest was underway in respect of this case now, and no officials
had been accused yet. Criminal proceedings in respect of particular persons
during the pre-trial investigation might be launched in accordance with
articles "Negligent attitude to the military service" and "Abuse of
authority".

Hi!

From the end of June until the end of
July (one month) I will stay in Simferopol for my
thesis research. I will conduct research on irrigation
and have to do some interviews with the irrigation

language! So: I am looking for someone in Simferopol who
speaks reasonably english (m/f, possibly a student?) and
can function as a translator (no qualifications
required!). This will be a few days during the period
mentioned above. I don´t have much money, but I can offer
American dollars, or local currency.
Some information
