This is what I thought about it:
Actually listened to the book instead of reading it. I have found that this
works better for me with many of the classics.
Bleak House is full of wonderful characters, from the heroine of the story
Esther Summerson to poor Joe.
The story revolves around two seperate things, Lady Dedlocke's past and the
court case of Jarndyce vs. Jandyce. Esther is in the middle of both.
The book has humor and sadness. The English court system and aristocracy is made
to look ridiculous, and no punches are held to protect anyone.
For me , the best part of the book was the characters.
Mr Bucket, the detective extaordinaire, who solves cases like Sherlock Holmes.
George the trooper and his friends, the Bagnet's. I got a bick kick out of Mr.
Bagnet deferring to his wife, the old girl, in all things yet always saying
"Discipline must be maintained". Catty's (sp) father in law and his deportment
was very funny to me, as was Mr Chadbain (sp) the preacher who had something to
say about everything and seemed to know nothing. Harold Skimpole, the con man
who claimed to be a child. Richard C. who marries Ada and chases his dream of
sudden riches from the infamous court case.
All in all, a very good book with serious issues of the time which uses humor to
make it more palatable to the reader.

Anyone else have any final comments on the book?
