This workshop is designed to answer the question 'what is coursing order' and give some insight into how it can be used as an aid to ringing methods and conducting touches and composing.
Not a 'heavy' agenda - a very straightforward introduction which could interest even those with limited experience.
let me know if you, or someone else in your tower can make it! Coffee & Biccy's provided!!
At Lillington we charge £75 for ringing afterwards only - £10 each for six ringers plus £15 for the rope fund. They usually get about 20 minutes ringing, regardless of how late they are. We last raised the fee in 2007, and I don't suppose we'll raise it again for a year or two.
John Gwynne tells me that ringing has been temporarily suspended at St
Nics until a structural engineer has reported on the state of the
tower. The architect has identified what "may be" some serious issues
with the stonework.
More news when I get it. Let's hope that things are not as bad as the
architect believes.

I am in need of old unused ropes for a few local towers where their own ropes are past it . I can splice most things so the condition is not relevant.
Most old ropes are just put in a corner to rot or simply never used again - particularly where new terry tops are used. So if you have some old ropes which are not used please consider passing them on so I can use them where they are needed!!
Clean up required with maintenance issues to be sorted including clock hammer and clappers. New Ropes required (still looking for some...) Aiming to be completed by the end of March.
Saturday 7th February is the next Warwick District Meeting It's at
Halford ringing from 2.30 until 4.00 service, tea and meeting at
Halford with further ringing at Shipston on Stour from 6.00 until 7.00
Names for tea to Douglas Carr 01789 740877
The correct details for this meeting are:-
Ringing at Stoke (8) 2:30-3:30
Walsgrave (6) 3:45-4:30
Service 4:30, AGM 5:00 then tea at Walsgrave
Evening ringing at Walsgave after tea
Names for tea to be sent to Jean Harrison 024 7644 5114 by Thursday 19
February
(Some notices might have the ringing the other way round - please
ignore any that have ringing at Walsgrave first!)
A new District Secretary is equired for 2009 - please think if you
could take on this important role.

We have a small nucleus of teenage ringers in the area and at least a few are available in the morning of Saturday the 21st March. The benefits of youngsters ringing within their pier group are well known now.
I am going to capitalize on this by arranging a teenagers (or below!) practice. Some ringing plus a quiz and refreshments etc - not a serious morning.!
If you have teenage ringers who can come along - or are available as a helper - please get in touch.

I have just been informed that Marion Gilbert, of Napton on the Hill,
died on 1st February. Her funeral was today.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Some of you will have read about these bells in some of the national press and seen a short clip on Midlands Today yesterday evening.
We only chimed as wheels are in poor shape as are pulleys and stays/sliders. The rest is not so bad although gudgons are an unknown just now. I expect tower and frame movement will have to be measured before any ringing is restored and work carried out. Even then there are cast in crown staples to be tackled one day..
Some ingress of water needs sorting and rotten floorboard/joist needs replacing before any of that.
They have spent £700,000 on the tower!!
As a result of yesterday the locals are enthused and we were on Midlands Today, 2 radio programmes various newspapers , recorded for future radio programme and they are going to make a ringtone out of the bells too. This should make it more difficult for the CCT to say no to spending some money!!
I intend to do my best to work with CCT to get them restored for at least occasional ringing..
Sorry I made no comment last week we were away in Scotland and drove back overnight yesterday.

This is correct - he is a member of this list, Graham!
Mike
He may be a member of the list, but I don't think he has access to his
eeeeeeeeeemails at the moment. Some on-going problem with his landlady's
internet connection. No doubt Paul will correct me if I am wrong and his
t'internet access has been restored.

I am organising this workshop - a small insight into how methods are constructed and a useful addition to the coursing order workshop. There are a few places - if you would like to come please make contact!!
Has anyone an old bell size 4 in G (if that makes sense) that they no longer want and are willing to sell? I need one to make an octave for our learners.
