Hi all,
I am new to the list and wanted to share a family favorite with you.

Caramel Apple Walnut Bars

1¾ cups flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 cup cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
20 caramels, unwrapped
14-oz. can sweetened condensed milk
21-oz. can apple pie filling

Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, baking soda and
salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Reserving 1 ½ cups crumb mixture, press
remainder into 13x9" baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. Add walnuts to crumb
mixture. In heavy saucepan, melt caramels with sweetened condensed milk,
stirring until smooth. Spoon apple filling over crust; top with caramel
mixture, then crumb mixture. Bake 20 minutes or until set. Cool; serve warm.
Serves 10-12.

hi all,
    i hear that you can make chocolate TRUFFLES from Chocolate Ganache,
but that you have to make the Ganache very firm. so, my first question
is how can I make the Ganache SOO FIRM?? by adding in more cocoa powder
till it forms a ball??

     my second question what is the difference between Chocolate Ganache
and Mousse and Fudge??? they taste and their use sound similar, don't
they?

please help,

Hi everybody,  I am  Sandee and I am new to the list.  I live in Illinois.
I LOVE cookies!!!  Especially in the afternoon with a cup of tea! :)  I am
looking forward to exchanging recipes for cookies.

Sharon -  Thanks for your definition of your "Assie" words.  How delightful
- I just love the way you guys talk. :)

I have enclose a recipe for Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies -  they are
sooooo yummy!!!  I think it's the vanilla pudding that gives this cookie a
"different" but wonderful taste.  Enjoy!

2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter or magarine, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package (3-1/2 ounces) vanilla flavor instant pudding
2 eggs
1 package (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts, optional

combine flour and baking soda: set aside.  Combine butter, sugars, vanilla
and pudding mix in large mixer bowl:  beat until smooth and creamy.  Beat
in eggs:  gradually add flour mixture.  Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (
batter will be stiff).  Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, about 2 in. apart
onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 9-1/2 minutes
or until browned.  Yield: 4-1/2 dozen cookies, 2-1/2 inches in diameter.

                            MALTED MILK COOKIES

    1      cup           butter or margarine
      3/4  cup           granulated sugar
      3/4  cup           packed brown sugar
    1      teaspoon      baking soda
    2                    eggs
    1      teaspoon      vanilla
    2      ounces        unsweetened chocolate -- melted and cooled
    2 3/4  cups          all-purpose flour
      1/2  cup           instant malted milk powder
    1      cup           malted milk balls -- coarsely chopped

1.  BEAT butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium to high
speed for 30 seconds.  Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and baking
soda; beat till combined. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and melted chocolate
till combined.  Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the
mixer.  Stir in remaining flour and the malted milk powder with a
wooden spoon.  Stir in chopped malted milk balls.  Drop dough from a
rounded teaspoon 2 1/2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

2.  BAKE in a 375 degree oven about 10 minutes or till edges are firm.
Cool on the cookie sheet for 1 minute.  Remove and cool on wire racks.

NOTES : Coarsely chop the malted milk balls individually till you have
a cupful.

Hello everyone,
My name is Vicci and have signed up for the list for a few weeks but
just now see postings to it.....Thank you Sharon for sharing your Lemon
Squares recipe! I have a question for you though! What do you call
biscuits if you call cookies biscuits? Biscuits in the US are
like....what you put sausage gravy over for breakfast....Isnt it
interesting how things change names as they go around the world...

         LEMON SQUARES

  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
- --------  ------------  --------------------------------
      1/2  cup           Butter
    1      cup           Flour
      1/4  cup           Sugar -- powdered
    1      cup           Sugar
    2                    Eggs -- well Beaten
    3      tablespoons   Lemon Juice
    2      tablespoons   Flour
      1/2  teaspoon      Baking Powder

Combine butter, 1 cup flour, and powdered sugar. Pat into well greased 9 x
9 inch square pan. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. Combine remaining
ingredients and pour over crust. Bake 25 minutes then sprinkle with
powdered sugar

I live in the mountains of Idaho and have been a cookie lover for a
loooooooonng time!  I collect cookie recipes from around the world but am
always interested in new and different ones.Whether they be biscuits,
