NIDDRIE MA HAME TOON!

As a walked through auld Niddrie toon
So sad wiz a tae see,
Auld Niddrie's been torn away
And gone a piece o' me!

Auld hooses that a kent sae well
Where all ma pals ran free,
The streets a lined wae memories
Fur all the folks an me!

Auld streets a new sae well
Now baron, bare and bauld,
Where wild wind does roar fur us
Sae sare and loud and cauld!

Tae see these hooses derelict
Sae empty and forlorn,
They've took away ma childhood
An tell me its re-born?

They chucked up all new hooses
But its just no the same,
Fur they cannae replace auld Niddrie
Or the streets that a call hame!
