...That's interesting you should say that , because I have read that , though
you cite 12 hours of extras , I think I have read that the full-length , "
road-show " , " hrad ticket " completely uncut version that was shown in the
first theaters thbat showed it in 1962or so , then was edited somewhat down for
showing in smaller , " lesser " , theaters at that time , is still not
completely found ! Or was it ?
( Do you know what I am referring to in general ?
This is a type of release pattern that isn't used much anymore for movies ,
but I believe many of us were alive and going to movies , at least some , when
that was still done .
Films of that time often were longer in their " big theater " initial releases
then edited by a reel or two for their later , " nabes " , releases...Or ,
admittedly as well , if they were semi-flopping/seen as too long .
I believe one of my father's all-time favorite movies , " Lawrence Of Arabia "
, was treated like that...So , when I saw both " LOR " and " IAMMMMW " in
theatrical releses in the 1970s , I saw the shorter versions , NOT the opening
night versions , I believe . )

This was a long movie when released (3.5 hours, I think) but they found in the
vaults something like 12 hours of film that was shot with different stunts and
gags. That was all put onto DVD for the special edition.

These super-special-director's-private-vault editions of movies get a little old
after a while. The only movies I've ever re-purchased to get the additional
features/footage were the Lord of the Rings films, only because we didn't see

One movie that this was done with that blew me away (though I've never gotten
the chance to buy the DVD set) is "It's A Mad, Mad World", from the early 60's.

   I meant that vintage National Lampoon , say , might've done a " Shotgun

fine line of doing a more " serious "/Very Special Episode story within a
humorous title , lots of times people who do that " fill out/solidify " the
characters a little too much , not so here...Oh , and I still think Regina and

...Well , maybe I either heard about it late or I'm just a 100% total dodblaimed
cynic , because I don't think I ever thought that it was " true " .
I must have read of it on the Web first , but I don't remember where...
Sice the story did involve aging the gang6-ish years...That is , unless might
have done , " A Riverdale Shotgun Wedding " , had happened !!!!!!!!!!!
So even contemorary Archie fans , people who buy the present-day comics at
least some , had that impression ??????????? Hm .
For mild implausibility in # 600-602's scenario:
Even aged several years , modern-day Americans of middde-class or above really
rarely marry just out of college . 1959 this isn't , except , of course , in
Riverdale maybe sometimes it is !!!!!!!!!!!
Even more " normally " , the Andrews are suprised by their twins - What , they
didn't take the saline/whatever they're called gender-checking tests that
essentially all American couples of any status take today ( Even if I guess
they've only been in the last 25-ish years or so , long after pert' near
everyone here let out their first wail . ) ?!?!
Oh well . Next I'll be asking exactly what super-rich people nowadays send
their children to public school !
Odd realism note . In #602 it is not until they are both waiting room
grandparents-to-be that Mr. Lodge tells Mom and Pop andrews " You can call me
Hiram . " !

Yes, we all thought it was a "real" event, then the next week we found out it as
not. The other thing I recall from that week in limbo was a massive outcry from
the fans that he'd married the wrong girl.

For Topic Number One , let's - At the end of the year that it finally happened
!!!!!!!!! - discuss the WATCHMEN movie .
It's been out on DVD , so , many who weren't able to get to a theater could
see it .
   Did I say " It's been..." , perhaps implying plural ?
Well , after the during-the-movie's-theatrical-release Black Frighter/The Mask

extended DVD just out now , this one an " Ultimate Cut " , with extra footage
that the Director's didn't have ( But ,, the Director's has some exclusive as

I was just going to bring that idea , that there'd be a newer " Things you

comics fans buy for themselves with their present money , as a joke !!!!!!!!!

Just to get this out , when don't have to apologize/say " even though I may have

...So you're saying that , IYRC , Archie , in their comics-press releases on the
arc , were " cute " in their announcement of the story ?
Too , they annouced it initially to the comics press as to (A) seemingly say
that Archie would be marrying-for-real (B) but in a " cute " manner , (3)
Stating it a week later as what it really was ( And I tend to think the c. p.

...In the recent past , they had been offering Web-only subscriptions more
cheaply than double-dipped , and I forgot to mention that the new version will
continue the numbering .
   By " differing every issue " , I mean that , I think , each book-issue might
have more of a " theme " , and be not nessecarily the same page size/thickness
each time .
A few years back they published some TPB " special " larger-sized issues , I
had at least on , it was reasonably good .
I'm uncertain if the new version will have advertising .
A " book " format would seem to suggest not .
I liked AMAZING HEROES too:-) !!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW, I preferred their late, lamented Amazing Heroes magazine to TCJ.

OK , please excuse my self-indulgence here , this here is a message that ,
earlier , I sent , responding to some things said by some-one else here then ,
as well as a factual addition re: them funny ol' funnybooks .
It did not go upp then .
  For whatever.........
Now , I'm cleaning out the drains , and putting it back up .
While I grant that some of it responds to some-one else's quasi-political
suggestion , I don't really encourage - any of us - getting into political
statements .
Arguments on that you can find loads of places !!!!!!!!!!!

Below are two sites I found that have pics of many, many GLC members. I thought
these sites were cool enough to share, if some members don't know about them.

Some of these Lanterns are not well known, but I think they are very visually
interesting, really cool looking. Among those I thought were interesting were
Garmin Vid, M'Dahna, Palaqua, Perdoo, Volk, and Voz.

I would be interested to know what Lanterns on these sites other group members
liked.
