It appears that just about every part of the state has a YAHOO! kayaking group....except Columbus. So in an effort to meet up with local paddlers we are starting a group here. If you are in the metro Columbus area or know someone here who might be interested in kayaking with us please share this info.

The Columbus Area Kayak Association, known affectionately as CAKA, is a loose association of kayakers in the central Ohio region. There are no membership dues, rules or requirements. Primary interest is in flat water paddling in regional rivers, streams, creeks, estuaries, reservoirs, lakes, ponds and other bodies of water.

CAKA's motto is POOP - Paddling Our Only Priority. Our spouses, partners and friends may refer to us as POOPheads. Probably for a variety of reasons. We just had a successful September (Labor Day Weekend) CAKA Full Moon Paddle on Alum Creek Reservoir. The moon snuck out from behind the clouds several times during the evening.

Our next major paddling event will be a weekend paddle in May at Grayson Lake in Kentucky. And of course we will continue to paddle on Wednesday evenings and during the weekends as weather permits.
