POLL QUESTION: To celebrate a few milestones -- our
recent third anniversary and our
nearing 300 members (we are at 292 as I
write), I thought I'd create a
new "poll" for our forum. It's also
been a year since our last poll, so
this may be new for many members. The
recent thread about the three tenors
and sopranos gave me idea for the
topic. Of the 25 sopranos listed, vote
for the three (and only three!) that
you think would best live up to the
marketing phenomenon precedent (however
tired that may be now) set by those
ubiquitous three tenors and the many
related spin-offs. Use whatever
criteria you prefer -- your three
favorites, or the best variety, or the
most interesting mix for a concert/CD,
or the most famous and marketable --
After a week or so, I'll close the poll
and we'll talk about the results.
Remember, polls like this are only as
effective as the number of people who
particpate, so VOTE! I gathered this
list from the names of CURRENTLY
singing sopranos (mostly coloraturas,
of course) discussed in our forum
recently, and/or of sufficient stature
and reputation to warrant inclusion (in
my opinion, as editor of this poll --
recordings, careers, relative "buzz",
etc.). I truly apologize if anyone's
particular favorite is missing (I could
have added another 10 names, but the
software limits us to 25), but I think
I got most of the real contenders. Have
