yes i know, and as a conservator, it's impossible to get a varnish or spray sealant off of paper, without a lot of work. It's okay to use spray fixative....

I often read that laminates or varnish can't be archival because they're not reversible. But I think that really should be applied to framers and archivists...

Varnished are reversible unless the soak into a material. Varnishes were made for oil and acrylics so it would be a protective coating over the paint....
