This group is dedicated to discussing the ancestry of the Colagrosso family.

It provides a forum for all Colagrossos worldwide (and those related to them) to discuss their roots and determine whether we all share a common ancestry. We probably do, as Colagrosso is a very rare name (there are probably fewer than 100 of us worldwide).

There are about 70 Colagrossos in North America (Canada and the US). Most of the Colagrossos in North America appear to trace their roots to the village of Cattolica Eraclea in Sicily (and to a common ancestor Beniamino). However, prior to 1860 the origins of our family originate outside of Sicily, to a village in South Italy named Morrone del Sannio (Molise province).

There are several Colagrossos living in Costa Rica who also trace their original ancestry to Morrone del Sannio and who are related to the Colagrossos in the US, Canada, and Sicily.

There are several Colagrossos living in Italy outside of Sicily (many near the area of Rome, but some also in Molise, Campania, and Piemonte). Are all these Colagrossos distantly related to the Colagrossos in North America, Sicily, and Costa Rica?
