What is C.O.G?
Let’s first go back to its origins. Legends tell of it coming together out of Unitarian Universalism’s L.R.Y (Liberal Religious Youth) around 1980-81. It has since grown into something independent of those roots but still compatible with the likes of YRUU and other young adult groups.
COG is most definitely liberal though not necessarily religious and youthful in spirit. COG has individuals of all different ages including a few living fossils and some still-wet-behind-the-ears pups. COG is comprised of free thinkers, artists, musicians, everyday people and those who march, walk, or dance to the beat of a different drummer. We gather to see old friends and meet new ones, and to exchange ideas and enjoy each others company. At COG we are free to be who we want to be without fear of judgment or condemnation. We gather once a year on Labor Day for 4 days of celebration of life and togetherness with workshops that anyone can run on a variety of topics.
