Nothing earth shaking found today. We biked around Aurora Reservoir. I was
asked to keep an eye out for Grebes. We saw 2 Eared Grebes and 3 Pied-billed
Grebes in the southeast corner. One Snowy Egret was at the old rookery at mile
2.5. Two Say's Phoebes caught bugs at mile 4.5. As we drove by the Great
Plains Park we looked for Burrowing Owl. It wasn't around, but we didn't stop.
Not much at Quincy Reservoir, two Snowy Egrets were in the far southeastern
trees. The Black-chinned Hummingbird was not found at Cherry Creek State Park.
Found another Snowy Egret in the southeast corner. No shorebirds. We circled
the path at Bluff Lake Nature Center. A lone Western Wood-pewee was in the
northwest corner. Found two more Snowy Egrets one along the creek below the
stairs and a second at Peoria and the creek. Must be a day for Snowy Egrets as
one flew over our yard as we were getting out of the car.
