Hi, Ken,

I read about your book on Amazon and it sounds very interesting. I will
definitely be picking up a copy. While not horror per se, your book certainly is
dark and horrific. Alcoholics, being real, are scarier than vampires or zombies.
I could keep your name on file for next year's Halloween Horror Book Signing, or
if you're going to be at another local signing, please post about it here. Good
luck with your book!

I wish I would have known about this sooner! My book, Demon Alcohol and the
Monstermen, is set in the fictional town of Tallenook, a stand-in for
Wilkes-Barre and would be perfect for this event.

If anyone from the group finds out about other signings at this BN store, please
post as soon as possible. Sorry I will have to miss it.

Best,

Ken Kirsch

For those of Slovak heritage or those who have an interest, on the same day at
the same store is a separate signing by Thomas J. Lipovsky, author of the novel
The Slovakian.

"Although my characters are fictitious the novel deals with the Slovaks' endless
struggle for survival. For a thousand years they were under the boot of the
invading barbaric Huns. During the reign of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the
early nineteen hundred Slovaks migrated to America where life was hard but
eventually fruitful. The defeat of the Hungarian during World War I finally
brought justice and equality. The two main characters, Jon and Stasha, are
involved in a romantic relationship that will baffle the imagination."

I don't see an option for ordering the paperback. Will that come later? I prefer

Hi all,

My new novel, Watch The Hour, was released today by Whiskey Creek Press,
www.whiskeycreekpress.com <http://www.whiskeycreekpress.com/> , in both
print and electronic forms.

Set in the turbulent 1870s in a fictional coal region patch, the novel
explores the conflict between mine owners and their employees, particularly
the Irish immigrants, and the complications it poses for a romance between a
young coal and iron policeman and an Irish lass.

There's an excerpt on the publisher's webpage and I'll be posting more.

Area writers, readers to meet, discuss works
STAFF WRITER

By Maria Herne

HAMBURG — Local aficionados of the written word are invited to join
the latest venture sponsored by the Hamburg Our Town Foundation.

Hamburg's downtown revitalization effort is launching a writers guild
group for published and non-published writers as well as a book club
for others who love to read and discuss what they have read.

"This will give writers and fans of literature across northern Berks
a chance to network, share insights into great books and compare
their writing with local contemporaries," foundation co-organizer
Mary Domsicz said.

The groups' first meeting will be held Thursday at the Gallery of
Hamburg, 335 State St. The book club will meet at 7 p.m. with the
writers guild convening at 8 p.m. The groups are open to writers and
readers from high school age and older and will meet on a monthly
basis.

Participants will discuss strategies for getting published and plan
reading lists. They will also hold readings of poetry, essays and
prose by local writers.

There is no membership fee and members from both Berks and Schuylkill
counties are welcome to join, Domsicz said.

Further information can be obtained by email at
hamburgwriters@... or by calling the Our Town Foundation at
610-562-3106.

I was happy to meet Ron Breznay of CRBN yesterday at Barnes and Noble.
Thanks for stopping by at the book signing, Ron! It's great to put a
face to online friends.

My publisher, Nicole Langan, did a nice job with publicity for the
signing. She even had WBRE-TV show up, although their brief report was
replete with errors :(

WBRE reported that I'm a nationally acclaimed writer (not even in my
own mind!), but guess I won't have them retract that ;) They also said
my book was about Eastern European immigrants when the title actually
mentions the Molly Maguires!

I sold all the books B&N had stocked before the two hours were up, and
several people ordered books as well so I guess it was a success.
