Re: Completed the Towpath for the First Time

Here at the directions to Milepost 0 as given to me by a couple of
volunteers:

Mile 1.1 Pass under the Key Bridge
Past the Key Bridge look on the left for a dirt path over the canal.
Take the dirt path bridge over the canal and it leaves you on the
towpath facing up stream.
Make a "U" turn and continue heading downstream.
The towpath will cross trafficked streets. CAUTION.
Past the corner of Thomas Jefferson street and half way down on the
canal on the left will be the Geortown Visitors Center.
Continue to the end of the towpath (red bricks).
The towpath will end at Rock Creek Parkway.
Turn right on the sidewalk.
Cross 2 cutoffs for Rock Creel Parkway.
Ahead will be a parking lot.
Cross the parking lot.
Make a right at the end of the parking lot.
Cross over a small bridge.
As soon as you can make a left in front of Thompsons Boat Yard.
The building should be on your left and the river on your right.
Go to the end of the building on the concrete apron.
Look towards the left and you will see a footbridge.
At the end of the footbridge will be a white obelisk (just look for
the grafitti that's on it)!
That is MP "0"

It's too bad that the trail does not extend all the way to MP 0. The
signage could also be much better as there is absolutely none at the
end of the towpath which is ridiculous. I guess most people don't
make through trips to mile 0 so it's doesn't really matter. Not sure
why though.
