Welcome to the Chesapeake and Ohio Towpath group!

The C&O towpath is a 184 mile unpaved path along Maryland's Potomac River valley. The entire towpath is located within the C&O Canal National Historic Park.

This group discusses all types of activities within the park. One of the more popular activities is bicycling.

Yeah - Me too!! I'm planning a Pittsburgh to D.C./Mt. Vernon and back to Pittsburgh ride Sept. 7th thru 16th along the Montour Trail/Great Allegheny Passage/

Not going real soon, but most likely mid Sept when it cools off a little. Plan to go Pit to DC at a very leisurely pace with days ranging from around 50 to 25

... Hi That sounds like a great idea however, since i will be coming from a distance and have to work the day after labor day, it probably wouldn't work to do
