Welcome to the Camp
Mabuhay North Listserv A Culture Camp for Families with Adopted Children of Philippine Heritage
As parents of children born in the Philippines, we realize the importance of bringing the rich culture of the Philippines into our children's lives. Last summer, several Connecticut families attended Camp Mabuhay in Columbia, Maryland for a three-day Philippine culture camp. The camp was started eight years ago by adoptive parents wanting to teach their children some of the culture and language of the beautiful Philippines. A Filipino-American Association from the Washington D.C. area, Mabuhay,
Inc., worked with these parents to develop Camp Mabuhay. In eight
short years, it has grown into a very successful camp drawing families from throughout the U.S.
On July 31, 2004, with the help of the Camp Mabuhay staff, Connecticut held its first Philippine culture camp: Camp Mabuhay North.
