C.A.R.E.S. - Support Group for Family & Friends of Homosexual Persons
MISSION STATEMENT:
Clear Lake United Methodist Church CARES about all people. CLUMC C.A.R.E.S. is a ministry of CLUMC that seeks to Create an Atmosphere of Respect, Education, and Support for family and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons. The mission of C.A.R.E.S. is to educate and foster support to provide opportunities for dialog about sexual orientation and gender identity: a welcoming core that creates a community that is respectful of human diversity and confidentiality.
DESCRIPTION:
Could you, as an individual or family trying to maintain a loving relationship with a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender loved one, use a friend to support you in your efforts? Several members of CLUMC desire not only to be friendly but to be a friend. Rather than ignore a person who's hurting, we want to affirm that friend and share the gift of Christian love. As we share and open our hearts to one another, we will diffuse the heartache, pain, and stress in ourselves and move toward a more joyous community.
