y name is Dan and I've been a Christian since
1984. I'm currently the Associate Pastor at a Vineyard
in the Cincinnati area. I believe our experiences of
Jesus are in the "everyday, simple things of life" and
I would be happy to share thoughts with you,
especially to glorify Jesus.<br><br>Hope you will have a
blessed New Year.<br><br>Dan

AG... If you've truly received Jesus as your
Savior and Lord in your heart and repented of your sins
(i.e., turned away from them to live a new life), then
yes, you're born again as I understand God's Word. I
don't believe it's "necessary" to declare this before
the whole church. However, there can be a real
benefit to standing before others to declare your
allegiance to Jesus. Our faith, as our physical muscles,
needs to be exercised so I encourage you to take every
opportunity to do so. Baptism is a new believers first
obedience to our Lord's commands. Baptism is a declaration
of your new standing as you die to your sins in the
water and rise to new life in Christ. It's also a
symbol of your new standing in Christ's body on earth,
the church. Finally, communion is a reconnection, a
remembrance of ourselves to Jesus and what he did for us on
the cross. There's no where in the Bible that says
communion should be given only once a month. I know some
churches that offer it every day. My church, a Vineyard,
offers communion at every public service (Wednesday,
Saturday and Sunday). Communion is especially important to
me as I believe it's one of God's great healing
services.<br>Your final statement, "I guess I just want to know
that I've done everything I'm supposed to as a new
christian,"... believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and
Savior, confess it with your mouth at every opportunity,
pray continually (as often as you can), stay daily in
God's word, and trust the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Living the Christian life is not "shoulds" but "I will."
Finally, take what I say with a grain of salt. Be like the
Berean believers and go to God's word for yourself. God,
through the Holy Spirit, will teach you all you need to
know.<br><br>God's blessings,<br><br>Dan

i relat, <br>I'm so glad that there are people
who want to glorify the Lord on the internet! I just
got a computer in Aug.& it's been a real eye-opener
for me! I was curious about those chat rooms only
because a former bible teacher that I used to study with
used to talk about how he used to go into them &
witness to all kinds of people from all over the world &
i found that very exciting. But, the language and
arguing back & forth is not very edifing for any
Christian. Thanks for writing back and I hope that this club
will prove to be a fruitful experience for us all! May
the Lord richly bless you in 1999! God Bless You &
your family! Capenoni

1..If I have accepted Jesus as my saviour within
my heart and live a christian life is that being
"born again" or is it necessary still to declare this
in front of my church? <br>#2..How and when to
baptism fit into the picture?<br>#3..What is "communion"
within the christian church and why is it held only once
a month?<br><br>Any thoughts or insights would be
of great help to me. You see, finding Jesus has been
a long road for me and I still get afraid that I'm
missing out on something I should be doing. I travel
constantly and do my best to make it to church on the road.
Mostly I attend "Calvary Chapel", but I will go to any
Christian based church that I can find wherever I am at the
moment. I pray, I read my bible, and I praise Jesus, but
finding "fellowship" and a having a steady congregation
to turn to has been difficult. I've accepted Jesus,
but I've never walked down in front of a congregation
when the pastor calls to on a Sunday morning. I guess
I just want to know that I've done everything I'm
supposed to as a new christian. Any informatin will be of
help to me.

<br> I hope this little story help you to continue to
focus on the things of "real" importance.
<br><br>-------------<br> <br> "The Gold Slippers"<br> <br> It was only
four days before Christmas. The spirit of the season
hadn't yet caught up with me, even though cars packed
the parking lot of our local discount store. Inside
the store, it was worse. Shopping carts and last
minute shoppers jammed the aisles. <br><br> Why did I
come today? I wondered. My feet ached almost as much
as my head. My list contained names of several
people who claimed they wanted nothing but I knew their
feelings would be hurt if I didn't buy them anything.
Buying for someone who had everything and deploring the
high cost of items, I considered gift-buying anything
but fun.<br><br> Hurriedly, I filled my shopping cart
with last minute items and proceeded to the long
checkout lines. I picked the shortest but it looked as if
it would mean at least a 20 minute wait.<br><br> In
front of me were two small children - a boy of about 5
and a younger girl. The boy wore a ragged coat.
Enormously large, tattered tennis shoes jutted far out in
front of his much too short jeans. He clutched several
crumpled dollar bills in his grimy hands. The girl's
clothing resembled her brother's. Her head was a matted
mass of curly hair. Reminders of an evening meal
showed on her small face. She carried a beautiful pair
of shiny, gold house slippers.<br><br> As the
Christmas music sounded in the store's stereo system, the
girl hummed along, off-key but happily. When we
finally approached the checkout register, the girl
carefully placed the shoes on the counter. She treated them
as though they were a treasure. The clerk rang up
the bill. "That will be $6.09," she said. The boy
laid his crumpled dollars atop the stand while he
searched his pockets. He finally came up with
$3.12.<br><br> "I guess we will have to put them back, " he
bravely said. "We will come back some other time, maybe
tomorrow." With that statement, a soft sob broke from the
little girl. "But Jesus would have loved these shoes, "
she cried. "Well, we'll go home and work some more.
Don't cry. We'll come back," he said.<br><br> Quickly I
handed $3.00 to the cashier. These children had waited
in line for a long time. And, after all, it was
Christmas. Suddenly a pair of arms came around me and a
small voice said, "Thank you lady."<br><br> "What did
you mean when you said Jesus would like the shoes?" I
asked. The boy answered, "Our mommy is sick and going to
heaven. Daddy said she might go before Christmas to be
with Jesus." The girl spoke, "My Sunday school teacher
said the streets in heaven are shiny gold, just like
these shoes. Won't mommy be beautiful walking on those
streets to match these shoes?" My eyes flooded as I
looked into her tear streaked face. <br> <br> "Yes" I
answered, "I am sure she will."<br> <br> Silently I thanked
God for using these children to remind me of the true
spirit of giving." <br> <br>------------<br> <br>Tis the
Season!! Remember that it's better to give than receive
so... pass it on.

<br>_______________<br><br><br>Are you ready for
Christmas? Are you waiting for Santa Claus, presents and
reindeer? Is your shopping all done? Are your Christmas
cards all sent? It is a busy time of year, so stop,
relax and consider the following poem:<br><br><br>
‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE JESUS CAME<br><br> ‘Twas the
night before Jesus came and all through the house<br>
Not a creature was praying not one in the house.<br>
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care<br> In
hopes that Jesus would not come there.<br><br> The
children were dressing to crawl into bed,<br> Not once
ever kneeling or bowing a head.<br> And mom in her
rocker with baby on her lap<br> Was watching the Late
Show while I took a nap.<br><br> When out of the East
there arose such a clatter,<br> I sprang to my feet to
see what was the matter.<br> Away to the window, I
flew like a flash<br> Tore open the shutters and threw
up the sash!<br><br> When what to my wondering eyes
should appear<br> But angels proclaiming that Jesus was
here.<br> With a light like the sun sending forth a bright
ray<br> I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!<br><br>
The light of His face made me cover my head.<br> It
was Jesus! Returning just like He had said.<br> And
though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,<br> I
cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.<br><br> In the
Book of Life which He held in His hand,<br> Was
written the name of every saved man.<br> He spoke not a
word as He searched for my name;<br> When He said
"It’s not here" my head hung in shame.<br><br> The
people whose names had been written with love<br> He
gathered to take to His Father above.<br> With those who
were ready He arose without a sound<br> While all the
rest were left standing around.<br><br> I fell to my
knees, but it was too late;<br> I had waited too long
and thus sealed my fate.<br> I stood and I cried as
they rose out of sight;<br> Oh, if only I had been
ready tonight.<br><br> In the words of this poem the
meaning is clear.<br> The coming of Jesus is drawing
near.<br> There’s only one life and when comes the last
call<br> We’ll find that the Bible was true after
all!<br><br> ---Author Unknown

national non-profit organization - the American
Association for Premature Infants. AAPI is dedicated to
optimizing the quality of health care, developmental and
education services for premature infants, children and
their families. <br>There are so many premature infants
and children who need your help, membership and
PRAYERS!<br><br>My daughter was born 2 and 1/2 months early and she

just means small, cute, cuddly, etc... but this is not
the case.<br><br>I thought this was appropriate to
post here because so many have very strong feelings
about infants and children and life...<br>please do not

hought for the week!<br><br>As Christians we
often are convicted of old habits or <br>attitudes.
Sometimes we condemn ourselves because we have tried <br>so
many times to "turn over a new leave" and try harder
to <br>change. Often times a demonic oppression is
attached to the old <br>sinful habit.<br><br>I will
paraphrase out of Matthew 12:43-45; when an unclean
<br>spirit is chased off and the person cleans up their
life, the <br>unclean spirit will return and find his
old house put in order <br>and bring extra demons
with him. This second condition will be <br>worse than
the first.<br><br>The meaning that have found for
myself concerning this passage <br>is that the inner
character structure that support the old habit <br>must be
destroyed and a new Christ like character structure must
<br>come in the place of the old. This is a process that
requires <br>our attention, humility, and willingness to
deal with hidden <br>wounds still lodged in our
personal spirit.<br><br>Sometimes we get trapped in false
Christianity that encouages us <br>to clean up the outside of
our lives and look like we are <br>Christian.
Unfortunately the gospel demands that we embrace <br>"truth in
the inward being and be taught wisdom in our secret
<br>heart" (See Psalm 51:6)<br><br>Be encouraged if you are
battling with old habits and lingering <br>bad attitudes
from your former life. God is working with you,
<br>trying to get your attention in certain areas of your
life that <br>need healing. <br><br>Our old nature
will have power if we ignore it. If we accept <br>the
fact that our old nature needs to die (be crucified)
we will <br>recieve direction and support from the
Holy Spirit. He will <br>point out past issues and
wounds that are still not resolved.<br><br>Bitterness,
jealousy, selfishness and the like are rooted in our
<br>past former manner of life. A renewal must take place
in our <br>inner being and spirit of our mind. (see
Eph. 4:17-32)<br><br>Some of us are divided in heart,
mind, spirit and soul and that <br>is why we are
unstable in our walk. We suffer from a crushed <br>and or
broken spirit. (see James 4:1-12 -&- Prov. 15:4,13;
17:22; <br>18:14)<br><br>Forgetting the past just allows
the old former manner of life to <br>plague us when
we least expect it. Religiously we try to hold
<br>down these inner hidden issues while God is trying to
draw our <br>attention to them. Remember there is now
no condemnation for <br>those who are willing to see
themselves for who they really are <br>and allow God to dig
deep and change.<br><br>We are not robots so it takes
our cooperation and willingness to <br>suffer pain
and humility in the "working out our salvation in
<br>fear and trembling" (See Phil. 2:12-18)<br><br>Beloved
now is the time to be purified by the hand of God.
<br>Religious house cleaning only makes things
worse.<br><br>God bless all!<br><br>Love in Christ Chuck<br>Pastor,
