Hi Walter, At the time of the discussion, we determined that it depended on the TYPE of bronze bearing.. it still does.. some bronze will require lubrication.....

Our clock runs without any oil. SS shielded bearings to the center wheel. Jewels for the rest. Steel escape wheel, jewelled pallets. Run for 10 years...
