Hey Jeff.....

I would agree with you, won't that be something, if you had Sean Connery or
Roger Moore(mind you I hear is health is not good at times) reprise their Bond
role. I think the potential for this being a huge blockbuster would be pretty
good.
With that said my feeling is that they will go with Inca Gold - but we'll see!!

Have a good day!!

True..Connery would be ideal to reprise the bond role...age wise, etc.
Although I think the whole Canada/USA thing might ruffle some feathers up in the
great white north....who knows..LOL

I wouldn't mind seeing Inca Gold done. It's one of my favorites.

And call me strange, but I like the Austin line. I really didn't
see any difference other than the main character's changed. But
that's just me.

The Austin line is good, and I agree it is the same basic stories with the
main characters changed. I get the stories mixed up over all the books Cussler
has written, so I started re reading Inca Gold again. I am a little behind,
as I don't read hardcover books, only paperbacks. Long story there. So the
most recent I have read is Lost City. I am waiting for Black Wind to come out
in
soft cover.
To show how much I dislike hardcovers, I got tired of waiting for them to
publish the DaVinci Code in paperback in the US so I managed to find a softcover
  on Ebay from England!

lol, that's funny. I get upset when I didn't know a book had come
out and I missed getting the hardcover. Though, half of my
collection is paper back. The new series that came out.. Sacred
Stone and something Buddha, I didn't know about, so I missed the
hardcovers. I searched the net for them. I was able to get one as
a hardcover and it was large print. I'm annoyed by that now.

I have always had an aversion to hard covers. They are expensive and hard to
read when you read at lunch as I mostly do. Plus when I read at night I hold
the book over my head and look up at it. I have dozed off a few times and
cracked myself in the head, and THAT is the main reason i don't read
hardcovers..LOL

A little off topic here, but has anyone read Jack Du Brul
(Spelling?)...similar to Pitt, just a geologist as opposed to an oceanographer.

On another subject. I tend to enjoy Austin more than Pit. Pit
being to much dick swagger writing in my opinion.

A little history I've only tried to read one Pit book and that was
what I thought of it.. However I've listened to a few unabridged
Austin books and really enjoyed them. (maybe I'd enjoy the Pit's in
audio format?)

I've also seen Sahara in the movies and I'm rethinking reading Pit.
I enjoyed the movie very much other than the desert plane sailing
thing.

Golden Buddha I felt was a bit much for my taste as well. (audio
tape)

I'm looking forward to reading and listening more of CC.

Hi all,
I used to belong to this group some time back, but fell by the
wayside after my pc crashed.
I have on my bookshelf all of the Clive Cussler books. It all
started at a car boot sale when I bought half a dozen of his books and
got thoroughly hooked. Now I have to find Polar Shift to read, all his
books tend to circulate through my family before returning to my shelf.

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here. I noticed something in the paper today
that Dirk Pitt may have been involved in if he were indeed a real
person. I don't know if Mr. Cussler was involved... ;)

"Crews work to reaise a B-25 bomber from Lake Murray near Irmo, S.C.,
Monday. The plane crashed April 4, 1943, the crew escaping safely
while the plane sank in 150 feet of water. The bomber will be
dissembled and shipped to the Museum of Southern Flight in Birmingham,
Ala., to be restored and become the centerpiece of a new wing."

Pretty cool huh?
Take it easy.

First All....... Welcome Sean!!

2nd....... What a way to start your first post - I would say - YES!! that is
something that Dirk & Al would have been involved with - sounds like a CLASSIC
NUMA Project to me.

It would be interesting too see if the real NUMA and Clive had anything too do
with it!!

Subject: Typos in Cussler's books?!

Hi Everyone.

I have read the following books by Mr. Cussler: Trojan Odyssey,
Valhalla Rising, Atlantis Found, Flood Tide, Shock Wave, The
Mediterranean Caper, Iceberg, and Pacific Vortex. I have listed these
just to demonstrate that I've read a fair amount of his books to make
an observation and I want to pose this question: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY
TYPOS!!??

I really love the books, and in fact I've gone on eBay and Amazon and
bought them all (all of the Dirk Pitt books) so that I can read a new
one whenever I want; but jeez, I've never, ever- read novels with so
many typos. Has anyone else noticed? And of course I don't have
specific examples ready but they're there. What is the deal?

I swear I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, I know I have plenty of
typos in my work sometimes, but every novel I've read is chock full of
errors, and I wonder why. Does the editor miss them? Is there a
proof-reader type of person? Does anyone have any observations or
answers for me?
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,

I guess I will have to re-read some of Clive's books too see why I haven't
caught them. I know that as a aspiring writer I make them as well, but I have
three people who I have editing my writing as I go along.

Got to be honest, I have never seen them either. Are we talking spelling or
punctuation? Because if it punctuation, forget it! I would be lost..LOL

I've never been aware of typo's in his novels as I'm always swept up in the
great adventure he spins.
However, I'm sure there were typo's. Frankly, I don't read a book looking
for errors; but I have to say that often I'm pulled up short in what I'm
reading and find it's because of typo's or misspelled words. I think
proofers just don't catch all of them, nor do they worry about punctuation.
Omission of comma's can also slow one down when reading. But, I have to say
again, they've never been noticed in Clive Cussler's books.

I've noticed the typos as well. The main reason I catch them is because a
good portion of my job is spent proofreading things, so now errors are a pet
peeve. They haven't ruined my experience though. Most of the ones I've seen
are when the wrong word is used. Something like pubic instead of public. I
think a lot of those kind of errors are not caught because your brain will
just put in the appropriate word like you've never missed a beat. Cussler's
books are not the worse I've seen though. Just read the Janet Evanovich
Stephanie Plum series and you will see several in every book.
