the only way i know of to cut down on the spamming is for the owner of the group
to moderate everything that is posted to the club. That does not even guarantee
that nothing wont get thru.
So is anyone reading any of the books that are from the NUMA files, I've been
hesitant in reading anything that has nothing to do with Dirk Pitt as the focal
point of the story.

I'll admit that if CC has his name on it, I'll read it. The Numa Files are
how to put it? Someone earlier described them as Dirk Pitt Light. I think
that is pretty appropriate. They lack the historical aspects and some of
the intricacies of Dirk Pitt novels but if I can't get Dirk and Al, I'll
take Kurt and Joe. I liked the Oregon Files. It lacked some of the insight
into the characters and that was in part because there are so many
characters and so much was going on that it made for a very quick read. I'm
hoping that the characters will flesh out a little more in subsequent
novels. Many may disagree with me, (it wouldn't be the first time) but I'm
enough of a CC junkie that I'll read anything he puts his name on.

I read "Serpent" and "Fire Ice". I thought they were both pretty good. I like
the Pitt books better. The Columbus story in "Serpent" was pretty interesting.
Does anyone have an opinion on the "Sahara" movie. I just can't picture Matthew
McConaughey as Dirk Pitt.

go back and look at some of the postings from a few months back that
was a hot tobic in the club for a while. most dont like it including
me but we'll just have to wait and see. the way I look at it Tom
Selleck would have been a better Indy Jones (he was the first choice)
but they were still damn good movies with H. Ford. so wait and see

So does anyone here think CC will write a book with DP in charge of NUMA, and
expand upon Dirk jr and Summer??
I think that would make an interesting continutaion of the NUMA files.
I'm still in the process of reading FIRE ICE, so far what I have read isnt bad,
just isnt exactly on the par that I am used to from CC; but I must admit it did
help pass the time at 30 somthing thousand feet.:)

I think he's setting it up for his retirement and the
hand over to another author. Rumor has it that he's
training his son Dirk to take over. But there's also
Craig Dirgo. I'm betting that's what will happen.

James,
I agree with you. I just finished "Trojan Odyssey" and there was so much
nostalgia there which left me with the impression this may be his last novel
Apparently he lost his wife as he dedicated this book to her memory? I
think he will be retiring for being a sole author of his novels. I will
regret losing him as a favorite author, but I can understand his journey in
life may be altered.

If you want up-to-date info on CC, Dirk Pitt, etc., you need to check
out the Clive Cussler Forum:
http://www.clivecusslerforum.com/
Here's the current info on upcoming books:
Lost City by Clive Cussler (July 27, 2004) - Kirt Austin
Sacred Stone by Clive Cussler (October 2004) - Oregon Files
Black Wind by Dirk Cussler (Nov./Dec. 2004) - Dirk Pitt Sr./Jr.
As you can see, Clive is planning on handing over the Dirk Pitt kids'
storyline to his son, Dirk Cussler. Dirk Pitt will be included in
this storyline as head of NUMA, along with the other new positions
for the various characters. I'm not entirely sure how much CC will
be working as editor/co-author with his son, but I hope DC can keep
the storyline up to the standards of his father.
I can't see Dirk sitting in an office and not "in the field" with his friend
Al. He'd go bonkers! I could see someone like Rudi Gunn or Hiram taking
over. Besides, who'd Al get one over with the cigars?!

I was just watching "Celebrity Justice" and no I dont watch normaly,
but something caught my eye. CC is suing Crusade the film company in
charge of the movie, saying that they went with a screen play not
apporved by CC, as stated in his contract he had total control over
the screen play.after "raise the Titanic" who can blame him. I dont
see why a studio would want to change something that good. why cant
they just make it the it was written. if it aint broke dont fix it
so dont look for it to soon if ever. does someone else have some
info on this?

i am new to the group but not to clive cussler.read all of his books
and got some others converted.
it's fun to find others who like his works like i do, but i really
like dirk's books. just wanted to say hi.
I have most of CC books, and I've read them all...but I can't
remember if there was a book with Summer(Dirk Jr's mom) in it. If
so, let me know which one it is.

I'm looking forward to reading everyones comments on Clive Cussler's
writing. I've been a fan for a lot of years and have read all his
Dirk Pitt novels... haven't got into the newer books, but being an
author myself I have to actually write sometime. It sounds like a
very interesting mix of people.

Has anyone else read Lost City. I was left with the impression that
Sandecker allways had a bigger role ad director of NUMA, than Pitt did
in this book.

Yes i have the story line is good i will not give anything away for
those who have not read it yet

Just finished Lost City, great book!
I really liked it. The new characters are very Cussler-esque and the
book is full of the same adventure.
As my schedule evens out here in the next few weeks, I can hopefully
be more active around here as the founder and all...

Dear Wask21,
Don't recall any spam on this recently -- hasn't been much mail.
I don't think there is enough mail to moderate! Please, yes, post more
about Clive and his books. Haven't read his latest except for Trojan
Odyssey, and I rated that 4 star (my highest rating). Clive Cussler is my
husband's and mine most favorite author and we've read each and every one of
them to date, and keep every one of them on the bookshelf.

Just read on the Simon & Schuster website that Jack Du Brul will be
writing the next Oregon Files Book. That should be very good.
Here is the link if anyone is interested.

One night I was coming home and fell on my steps. It knocked my
pointing finger out of joint, it looked terrrrrible! Everyone wanted
to take me to the hospital, but remembering Dirk Pitt, I said "wait a
minute", and I bravely pulled my finger back into place, surprising
and freaking out everyone there! It fell into place perfectly! Very
little swelling the next day, and many kudos from all my friends. I'd
have never even thought to try it if it hadn't been for Dirk Pitt!
I've been in love with Dirk since the first book I read, which I can't
remember the title of. But, it changed my life. I became much braver
and more thoughtful about everything. Thank you Clive Cussler for
creating a character that is so inspiring!
