New here but been a huge fan for years, read them
all but Blue Gold and will get it soon. I am happy to
announce that got my girlfriend to start reading him. She
read Raise the Titantic and now she wants to read the
rest, good thing I saved them. Does anyone know if
Cussler ever checks this site.

I was told that Clive Cussler had some good novels set in the South Pacific.
Does anyone know the names of any of these?

RG Naylor

I think I could help you out here. In
chronological order, here goes. Pacific Vortex mainly centers
around Hawaii, Deep Six has a little stint about a
transpacific cargo ship hijacked on its way across the
Pacific, Dragon has Japan and a little resort Island in
the Pacific, Shockwave features Australia, New
Zealand and the like, and Flood ide has a little about
Hong Kong and the Phillipines. Hope that helped.

On the History Channel last night, I watched History's Mysteries about the
Hunley. Our favourite author was on there talking about his search for it.
Very interesting.

A great read! As a former student of Anthropology I loved the stuff on
possibilities of an ancient culture that existed thousands of years ago.

I'd like to say that Cussler needs to stick with
Pitt but also keep Austin around. I realize that hes
not gonna be writing about pitt any more and that pos
me. Austin is no Pitt. Cussler needs to write one
more book for Dirk so he can go out in style. Not that
little note at the start of the book. Thats no way to go
out. If he's not gonna be writting about Pitt alone
any more I'd at least like to see him and Austin team
up for one last bow for Pitt.

Does anyone know if Cussler is ever gonna bring Pitt back for another adventure?
I heard Cusslers been working on a new Pitt adventure but i'm not sure if its
true.

i'm sure the Austin books will get better. Your just not used to this new
character and your expecting him to be just like Dirk.

I'm not looking for someone like Dirk I'm looking
for something better then DIRK. If Clive is going to
change the charactor he eiether has to be just as good
or better. Austin just doesn't even come close to
Dirks level. He lacks the excitement that Pitt
supplied.

I thing it`s because he`s about 2-Steps behind
Clive when it comes to writing,(Especially trying to
use the format we are so used to) I also thought at
one time Steven Kings Stand was the best book i ever
have read,But with the author Robert M McCammon,i Hope
i got the correct spelling of his name right, With
his book Swan Song, It Is a Flat out tie!!! (For the
Horror type reading fans out there) Same type of story
sort-of,And although i have read every one of Clives books at
least 2 times i feel that Night Probe is the top of the
line,

I agree that if someone is going to take Dirk's
place it has to be a step up not a step back. I just
finished a reread of Shock Wave WOW good book I loved it
when Dirk was getting his butt kicked by Boudicca and
just about had it and "Then Pitt saw the malice slowly
fade in Boudicca face and felt a hand gently ease him
aside as Goirdino entered the Dosett family Study and
said this fancy maggot is mine" and I read the Autin
book doesnt even come close, I'm still waiting for
Atlantis Found to come out in paper back any one have any
idea when?

Anyone, remember the first cameo by Clive? I'm getting kind of bored with the
Cameo...he seems to use it, to bridge a weak link in the story....just my
opinion....

His first was in Dragon. He raced Dirk at a
Concours. Dirk drove a Stutz while Clive drove an Isota-
Frashini I think. Dirk won, of course. As for the weak
link, I disagree. It just saves him the expense of
creating a weak trhowaway character.

yeah, if you want to call the character a
throw-away, that's fine....have you ever thought of using
Clive's stuff as a model for writing your own? I would
like to write a book before I leave this
universe...any thoughts?

I know after what ITC did to "Raise The Titanic"
It would be a hard sell but think of the
possibilities ! As I see it Sean Connery as Brian Shaw, James
Belushi as Al ,Alec Baldwin Is Pitt and Gary Oldman in
red headed crew cut and van dyke beard as The admiral
get John Mc Terrnan to direct and it's guaranteed 150
million domestic in the first two months of release

I hear ya but I heard a interview with C.C. and
he said that he would never make another movie. He
was so upset about Raise the Titanic that he wouldnt
do it. I think that a young Tom Selleck type would
make a good Dirk, I dont know about Belushi as Al He
is a little to tall and not barrrel chested enough.
Ive been rereading his stuff I'll have to try Night
Probe next

actually my first choice would have been his
brother John, but as he asumed room temprature some time
ago I think his perforemance might be a little
stiff. Is their a way to contact C.C. I know ITC Screwed
him , But ITC screws everyone Hell they held Martin
Landau and Barbra Bain contract hostages for 6 years
over a TV project.
Lord Lew Grade is the Industry
ASSHOLE in an industry full of assholes. Cusslers agent
and Laywer should have known that. Hell every first
year film student or anyone who's seen an ITC project
knows they specilize in crap. But that was the 70's
authors have a lot more power now
Grisham , Clancy,
even Dean Koontz have found ways around the Hollywood
Jackoffs and get their novels to the screen intact. Koonts
route might work best for Cussler.A four or five part
Made for TV movie.Night Probe,Sahara, Dragon,
Cyclops,Deep Six in that order could be NBC's wet dream , It
would make ABC's deal with King pale by comparison . As
long as Clive keeps his hand on creative control .
Benchley gave it up on Beast
and the only thing that
stayed from the book was the Squid.

Flint

I like your choice of words I dont know how to
get in contact with CC I would hope that he checks
out this club but I dont know. I would rather see his
work on the big screen with no commercial
interruption. There are always ways to get around things in
Hollywood I hope he finds a way
Baba
