his books and each new one is an immediate "must have" in any format!

in the book doesn't stand out in my mind.

I looked him up on imdb.com. Clive's only acting credit was for Raise
the Titanic, where he was an uncredited "Bearded reporter at Sandecker

all the books get in on the action.  But I think this
has been said before.

I haven't been this excited about adventure books
since John D. MacDonalds Travis McGee and Donald
Hamilton's Matt Helm series.

We have seen MAX develope and grow through out the series.  I worked
in computers for 35 years. Max isn't beyond the future evolution of
super computers/artifical intelligence.  This desktop pc is more
powerful than the first mainframes I worked on so long ago.  And they
took up a huge amount of space and power.  Max isn't much different
than HAL, Colossus (sp)or any of the Star Treks...  Anyhow, makes for
fun reading.

I like MAX!

Tim,,,might want to back up and start the whole series from the
beginning.  Great reading!

I agree with you.  I just finished Golden Buddha and was greatly
disappointed.  It was a very long, boring read for me with too many
characters not adequately described.  But now I know all about how to fly a
helicopter!!!!  I really disliked it greatly....and I'm sorry I have to
admit that after being a huge fan for over 20 years.  I dread picking up
Sacred Stone if it is going to present the same challenge of enjoyment.

The Movie was good, I bought it, and it is great, but just not the same as the
book.

Did the rumoured lawsuit by Cussler against the studio ever come to fruition?

Movies are made for one thing only, and that is to make a profit.  There are
hundreds of different people working towards the completion and release of a
film. And they all will have some input towards the completion of the project. A
Book is A Book, a Movie is a Movie.  Even if Clive Cussler controlled every
aspect of the films production, from writing the script, to choosing the talent,
to deciding the cameras angles, the end result would still differ from the
scenes played in your mind while reading.  You, like myself enjoy the works of
this Author, we can best help by buying his books.

I just started to read again myself for the 5th or 6th time but not
in a few years and it is so much better but a movie is only a couple
of hundres pages the book is 6 hundred pages you cant fit it all in.

at a time when steamboats still traveled the Mississippi: Casey builds a
replica of the Wright brothers' biplane, Flyer, which he names Vin Fiz
(after his favorite soda pop), and uses the magical machine to enlarge it.
The twins and their dog take off on a cross-country flight in the aircraft,
which possesses a "mystical vision" that draws it to people in danger. Under
her guidance, the youngsters help free Nevada townsfolk forced by scoundrels
to labor in a gold mine, halt a runaway train overtaken by bandits in Ohio
and stop two girls from tumbling over Niagara Falls. Cussler sprinkles his
folksy narrative with instructional notes ("A line, by the way, is nautical
talk for rope") and facts (almost 800,000 gallons of water rush over Niagara
Falls every second), and characters' names emphasize the text's tall-tale
quality (e.g., Ever and Ima Nicefolk, Stoke and Blaze Firepit). This genial,
at times suspenseful, caper wraps up with a note about the real Vin Fiz, and
Farnsworth's drawings dramatize the climactic scenes. Ages 7-up. (Feb.)

Gr 3-5-Cussler's first children's book is a tribute to an airplane that
crossed the United States in 1911. It is the tale of Casey and Lacey
Nicefolk, who receive a gift from a hired hand that allows them to make
their toys real and life-sized. First the twins make a tractor for their
parents' farm, and then they use the magic to create an airplane designed by
the Wright brothers that they call Vin Fiz. They decide to fly across the
country to New York. On the way, they rescue townspeople who have been
turned into gold-mining slaves by an evil man, keep a steamboat from
crashing into a barge, stop a runaway train, and rescue two girls from going
over Niagara Falls in a boat. Unfortunately, the book suffers from a lack of
characterization as well as problems with gender stereotypes. Lacey, the
female twin, is never the hero in the adventures. The writing is stilted and
the story fails to come to life even though the situations have the

Man. Max has changed a lot though out the series. Max is possible
the smartest person on earth. ( Person as lifeforms, Computer

Hi I am new and I love the adventures of Dirk Pitt. Who realized there
is two lines in that book that are flipped.

Most, if not all, of Clive Cussler's books are unbelievable.  It is
part of the fun, that Max is too.
