Description

Class Cutters is a group parenting initiative that uses existing community resources to meet the needs of both unique and typically developing children by creating a self-directing, least-restrictive learning environment. The model as it is presented here is for learning groups as large as ten, but can be scaled up or down depending on your own class size.

A self-directed model engages a child's natural curiosity and interests to get beyond social and behavioral challenges which may be interfering with a structure-driven public school model. By pairing this up with an environment of least restriction, students will be given a level of control over their own schedules and natural consequences will teach a degree of responsibility and leadership.

Online or other homeschool methods can also be implemented to prevent isolation & engage children in positive social environments.

Because these environments teach life skills, they can better prepare students for career choices than traditional schooling. And since local resources such as libraries, museums, and businesses can also be used, each student will be presented with unique opportunities to acheive and learn. This means that any environment can be used to promote learning and growth.
