TAYLORVILLE - Rita T. Cekay, 79, of Taylorville died
Friday, May 20, 2005, at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital
in Taylorville.

She was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Manitoba, Canada, the
daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Egan Hopkins. She
married Robert J. Cekay in 1947 in Chicago. She was
preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Cekay.

Mrs. Cekay attended Providence High School in Chicago
and was a medical technician at Rush University
Medical Center in Chicago.

She was a member of St. Vincent Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary and St. Mary's Parish in Taylorville.

Survivors: husband, Robert; four sons, Robert A.
(wife, Roberta) Cekay of Indianapolis, Daniel J. (wife,
Susan) Cekay of Wheaton, John (wife, Martina) Cekay of
Giessen, Germany, and Patrick Cekay of Chicago; two
daughters, Maureen (husband, Bob) Appleton of Taylorville
and Mary Eileen (husband, Rick) Allen of Chapel Hill,
N.C.; 15 grandchildren; three sisters, Sister Mary of
the Rosary, O.P., of Farmington Hills, Mich., Sister
Maureen Hopkins, SDS, of Milwaukee and Agnes Connolly
of Niles; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Mary's Church,
Taylorville. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery.

McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of
arrangements.
