Greetings
Tomorrow I fly to New York. I am excited yet a little nervous. It
has been an exhausting few days. Been trying to pack up, ship stuff
and clean up. Plus I have been traveling about a bit. Saying good-
bye to the wonderful people I have come to call friend here in
England. It is amazing how fast time flies.
Tribe of Doris was a blast. It was a multi-cultural summer school.
It was amazing to see so many different cultures come together and
share their music, dance and song. Many countries in Africa, Asia,
North/South America, the Middle East and England were represented.
One of the most enchanting moments I had was at a song workshop with
Chartwell Dutiro from Zimbabwe, He had us sing only two songs in a 1-
½ hour workshop and it was amazing. I am not sure if I could explain
why this session moved me so much but it did. It felt like my heart
opened up and I stepped into the moment.
I spent a few days around Edgeware Road/ Marble Arch in London. This
area is mostly Muslim. Arabic is the main langue spoken, I even know
some Arabic now. My accent is so bad most people don't know what I
am trying to say but hey I tried. I was fortunate to meet wonderful
people who took the time to speak with me about Islam, traditions
and culture. The only conclusion I can come to is humans are humans
first and forth most. Religion, cultural, color and what have you is
what helps us defines our experience but humanity is the connection.
I have added some pictures please have a look. I will hope our paths
will cross soon as we will be on the same continent once again.
Here is a short poem I just LOVE!
Art as Flirtation and Surrender
In you lights I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest,
Where no one sees you,
But sometimes I do,
And that sight becomes this art.
