Sound like a great event. Looking forward to meeting all these people we read
about and try to beat to the caches. I hope that August 26th does work out. We
will be there if it does.
LADYBUGGERS
Hello all. I just thought I would send a message
to introduce myself.

I'm hountzmj. I read
about geocaching in the enquirer a couple of months
ago. I've only had the time to find 2 cache's so far
but I loved it. I found Burnett woods and the one in
Shawnee park.

I'm hoping to find a bunch more
some day soon. I'm planning on placing one is SE
indiana (where I'm from) very soon also.

On a side
note.

How many cacher's do you think there are
in the area? How many do you think would come to an
organized (read competetive) event of some sort? I've been
thinking about it and I have a few Ideas. I work at a
place which would be nearly ideal location and I think
that managment would be receptive too.

Well
I'll talk to you all
later.

hountzmj

P.S. I'd be interested in the sharon woods meeting
if
it's going to happen.
Hmmm...good question! I must say that for my
crew, Cayuse Trail at Ceasers Creek had to be the
hardest. The trail was a complete path of mud and horse
poop! Buzzardroost was also a hard one, but that was
also my fav one! The view at the top was so very worth
the third of a mile walk up that
hill!

Bill
TCC
TLP! I'm going to plan on reserving a shelter in
Sharon Woods for Sunday August 26th later this week,
unless there is a vast problem with this date. I plan on
doing this possibly Friday or Saturday, so speak now or
yada yada yada. Lead Pipe!
I'm just curious about what everyone thinks has
been their hardest cache up to this point. For us, it
was the Buzzardroost Box, but now, it's Daniel's
Family Jewels in Daniel Boone National Forest, with a
bullet. Base it on both terrain and other factors, as
with this one for us it was mostly terrain.. two 400'
near vertical climbs. Wow.
I agree!! This thing needs to get off the ground
before we run out of summer! As TLP suggested, does
Sunday, August 26th? work for everyone? TLP, your kinda
scaring me with your second geocache...topic of
conversation?? Must be a real doozy! Nice shockwave intro by the
way!

Bill
The Cinci Cachers
I think after we return from our Kentucky camping
trip, we should seriously plan for the picnic. By the
end of next week, I would like to have a date set and
possibly reservations set at the least... then we can dish
out various assignments of responsibility and so
forth. Also, after that is a little more rigid, Team
Lead Pipe will concentrate some effort on it's second
geocache, which we really want to have done before the
picnic, as we hope it to become a topic of conversation.
Lead Pipe! -Brent
Incidentally, Team Lead Pipe has the resources at hand to take whatever video we
end up producing and setting it up as streaming video on our page. That would
be cool. Pb | !!!
By the way, I love Lead Pipes idea about a "Geocaching Special" Would like to
offer my services for what ever help you might need! Sounds like
fun!

Bill
The Cinci Cachers
Well, they sell video tapes that tell you how to
use certain model GPS units. I know there is one
available for the Magellan GPS 315 (among others) They wont
tell you how to Geocache, but it will tell you how to
work a GPS which is a good start! Bass Pro Shop at
Forest Fair Mall sells them..
TEAM LEAD PIPE! Was thinking about such a
problem,
not so much the use of the GPS explicitly, but
more like a video about Geocaching in general.. tips
for finding and leaving a cache, do's and don'ts..
that kinda thing. We have a pretty convenient Public
Access station, so we were considering making such a
video sometime this fall. As far as an already existing
video goes, I have no clue. Lead Pipe!
I got an email from a friend of mine who didn't
know anything about geocaching. I told him the basic
principal, and he thought it sounded pretty neat, but he
wouldn't know where to begin about using a GPS device.
Does anyone know of an instructional video or
something that people without too much computer knowledge
could learn about such things? -TLPfan
Well, it sorta goes without saying that some
people probably won't be able to show up for one reason
or another, but we should try to schedule it for a
weekend when as many people can attend as possible.
Perhaps Sunday, August 26th? TLP is open any coming
weekend down the road, for the most part, preferred
sundays over saturdays. Lead Pipe!
i will not be able to make it labor day weekend
either. nor will dliming(as he's already stated) nor
ladybuggers. we are all out of town for family outings. sorry
guys! is a wonderful idea. but not a great weekend for
us. :(
Would love to attend but Labor Day Weekend is out for us....busy with family
outings....butl then again I guess it would be hard to find a day that is free
for everyone
TEAM LEAD PIPE agrees that the first of September
sounds good. It allows people planning for the fireworks
the following day to enjoy a full weekend with a day
left off to rest. I suppose we can began planning on
what to do after we find out about
reservations.
Lead Pipe!
I would think the chance of getting a shelter reserved for labor Day weekend
would be next to impossible! I will call Sharon woods and see what they
say....

Cinci Cachers
W00t w00t, Sharon woods sounds like an excellent
place. I was thinking Woodland Mound would work as well,
but it's a bit of a haul for those cachers on the
west side of town. The rest of TLP and I are located
as far east as you can get without being considered
sticks.. hence, Eastgate. Labor day weekend sounds as good
as anytime to do it, and it's far enough off yet
that we could make sure everything's in order. I
suppose, unless someone knows already, what's in order to
reserve one of the covered picnic areas. I'd like to hear
more about this, sounds great. Tlpfan, eh? I have to
admit I'm curious. LEAD PIPE!!
i think that this would be a great idea. we have
been talking about doing something like this for
awhile. just ended up being a thought... but now that we
all think it is such a cool thing... let's do it!!!
.. like bill says... before summer is over would be
good! :) kimbyj
As I told Team Lead Pipe about a week ago, I for
one am all for the idea of having a Cincinnati
Geocachers "reunion". It would be great to get to meet all
of you that we only know by name! i think we need to
get the ball rolling for this before we run out of
summer. We were trying to think of central places that
would make it easy for all to attend. Sharon Woods keep
yelling out to me for some reason. I am just trying to
get the ball rolling!

Later,

Bill
Hmmm... looks like not much activity here yet. And this forum was started by
tlpfan? We have a fan? Kewl - as it should be. Ummm... somebody say
something clever! LEAD PIPE!!!
Greetings, to all those who have found this page.
I was hoping to discuss the idea brought to my
attention that there should be a Cincinnati Cachers
get-together of some form or another, like a big picnic in a
park somewhere. If anyone wishes to get together and
plan for it, that'd be great. Reply to this message if
you're interested.
