Can anyone help on this?

We have a requirement to integrate the RE application with the web
application built on .NET framework. We have executed the command

  tlbimp BBREAPI7.tlb /out: REDotNetAPI.dll

and have the REDotNetAPI.dll file. We are referencing this DLL in our test
code and while executing we are getting the below error

---------------------------
The Raiser's Edge
---------------------------
Startup Error: Failed to load control 'WebHost' from RE7_WEBHOST72.OCX.
Your version of RE7_WEBHOST72.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using
the version of the control that was provided with your application.

Main Startup Step: CBBStartSeq.Startup

Start Sequence Step: ShowSplash
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

And also at last it gave me the error RE API not supported.

The sample test code is as below

Imports System

Imports REDotNetAPI ' Make the REDotNetAPI accessible from our code

Module TestRE

' Note: error handling is omitted for clarity

    Sub Main()

Dim RE7 As REAPI = New REAPI()

        ' Initialize the API

        If RE7.Init("WRE11111", "Supervisor", "admin", _

                    DatabaseNumber:=50, lAppMode:=AppMode.amServer) Then

            Console.WriteLine("API Initialized!")

' Create an instance of RE's Funds Collection Class

            Dim oFunds As New CFunds()

            oFunds.Init(RE7.SessionContext)

            Dim oFund As CFund

' Iterate over all funds in the system

            For Each oFund In oFunds

' Print the description of each fund to the console

                Console.WriteLine("Fund: " &
oFund.Fields(EfundFields.Fund_fld_DESCRIPTION))

' Free up any resources held by this object

                oFund.CloseDown()

            Next oFund

' Free up any resources held by this object

            oFunds.CloseDown()

        Else

Console.WriteLine("Unable to initialize. " & _

                "Error code = " &
RE7.SessionContext.ErrorObject.ErrorDescription())

            Exit Sub

        End If

    End Sub

End Module

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Internet Ministry: What about the Kindle?

I was recently investigating alternative publishing outlets for Christian
writers . For pastors writing should be a natural outgrowth of their brick
and mortar ministry, as well as, a tremendous marketing advantage when doing
Internet Ministry .

  <http://www.fromchurch.com/internet-minis%E2%80%A6out-the-kindle> Reading
list

There are so many ways that pastors can re-purpose their weekly sermons and
bible studies by recreating the material in audio, video, and written
formats that are easily consumed by an ever expanding marketplace of
potential Christian consumers. But I digress and must get off this soap
box,Christian consumers

Nevertheless, I came across a writer who had created and was giving away a
pdf formated ebook. Since he wanted to create a version for the Kindle,
Amazon's popular ebook display device. He researched and reformated the pdf
into a format compatible with the Kindle and published the book for sale
through the Kindle marketplace store.

The Kindle store is like itunes for Kindle ebooks. They not only handle the
purchase transaction for the author, but they also download the book to the
readers Kindle device.

I have what I think is a simple request, but not so simple that I can resolve it
myself...

I am in the process of redesigning our kid's chapel website.

Each week we videotape our services and then mix the tape down to about a 2
minute summary. Currently, I am putting those on our blog.

On the new website, I would like to have a graphic that looks like a monitor
that plays the most current video in it. On the side of the graphic, I want to
have a list of older videos that can be clicked on and viewed in the "big
monitor". Since flash video seems to be popular and works on most browsers (or
maybe all), I want to upload the videos in .flv format and have them play in the
flash player.

Does anybody have the code for accomplishing this or know of a template that I
could use to set this up?

Thanks for any help you can give.

In His Service,

Allen R. Cook

One thing I have found is that usually if it is free it is not really free. You
might want to check out some places like a friend of mine owns, kingdom247.com
they have hosting programs, as well as sell domain names. Their service is top
drawer.

You know, domain names are not that expensive. I pay $11 a year for mine and
there are places you can get them for less than half that. I do know that a
number of webhosting companies will include the domain name if you sign up with
their company. However, they tend to be a bit more expensive.

You can easily find a domain registrar who charges $10 per year. If you
can't afford $10 every year for a domain name, you probably shouldn't have a
website. I mean no disrespect, of course...but if you don't have ten bucks
to sink into your own ministry, and can't find someone you know to sink ten
bucks into your ministry, I wouldn't think that it's a very serious effort.
That's only $0.83 per month. If you have no money to spare, you might sell
something on eBay or ask a friend to loan you $10 for a year, and do some
work for a neighbor on a warm spring afternoon to earn the ten bucks to pay
them back.

I went through the same thought process personally when working on my first
websites in 1999, so I've been there...and I really do NOT mean to be harsh.
Someone pointed this out to me, and I realized that they were exactly right.
How committed are you to your ministry? If you can't find ten bucks to get
going, you might need to ask yourself why.

I wish you God's very best!

Hi

With Internet Evangelism Day only a month away, I wonder if you may
have the opportunity to write or blog about it? I realize it is now
too late for monthly publications, but for weekly print newsletters,
church bulletins, email newsletters or blogs, this would be an ideal
time. Or please just forward to other leaders, editors, bloggers or
friends who may be interested. (If you have a blog, would you
consider blogging about our new blog too, or even adding it to your
blog roll? You are also very welcome to quote/use any of the posts on
your own blog.)

As well as the item below about IE Day itself, I have included five
other very short news items which are not time-critical, and are
appropriate for publication at any time.

We are also very happy for any of our resource pages to be used or
adapted for publication elsewhere, either online or in print media. See:
www.InternetEvangelismDay.com/free-articles.php

Royalty-free photos are available to illustrate any news item or resource page:
www.internetevangelismday.com/photos

By the way, it is also possible to add a temporary diagonal banner to
your website, as for example www.ucb.co.uk has generously done:
www.internetevangelismday.com/banner-linking.php

We also plan a page on the site listing web evangelism initiatives,
resources or training which are part of a single denomination. If you
know of any, please let me know.

Grateful thanks

In Him

Tony

Worldwide Focus Day for Churches on 26 April

Many churches will highlight the potential of the Internet on 26
April, by holding an 'Internet Evangelism Day'. This international
focus day program explains how the Web is a God-given tool for
outreach, and provides help for Christians to use it effectively.
Churches will build a presentation into their services or other
activities on or near that day. This may be as short as a 2-minute
announcement, or can be a longer program using the free downloads
from IE Day's site: PowerPoint, video clips, music, drama scripts and
handouts.

This website is also a year-round online resource guide with many
ideas for web outreach and strategy, including a self-assessment tool
to help churches develop their websites to reach outsiders in the community:
www.InternetEvangelismDay.com/church-site-design.php

One surprising emphasis: "You don't need to be technical to be an
online evangelist," says
IE Day coordinator Tony Whittaker. "There are many ways you can share
your faith in your spare time, without any technical knowledge at
all." Church leaders have welcomed this resource. Elder statesman
John Stott writes, "I am glad to commend Internet Evangelism Day."
IE Day's site: www.InternetEvangelismDay.com

New Blog Explores Digital Evangelism

Digital Evangelism Issues (DEI) is the new blog from Internet
Evangelism Day (IED) - hence the mirror-image acronym. Classical
language scholars and those with a Catholic background will notice a
second reference: 'dei' is Latin for 'belonging to God'.

It focuses on news and ideas for any type of digital outreach web,
mobile phone, video clip and social networking and more. "Digital
evangelism is a God-given tool, but we are missing many opportunities
for outreach," claims IED coordinator Tony Whittaker.

Free Evaluation Reports on Church Websites

Internet Evangelism Day offers an online self-assessment
questionnaire, enabling churches to enhance their websites to reach
out into the community. "Your church website is a 'shop window' for
your community," says IE Day coordinator Tony Whittaker. Yet very few
church websites are designed with these outsiders in mind. The
questionnaire creates a free evaluation report to highlight areas of
a site that can be developed.

New Online Communication Channel

Are you looking for resources and ideas about good communication and
evangelism? Internet Evangelism Day's website now includes a
'Communication Channel' with a wide range of resource pages.
www.InternetEvangelismDay.com/channel

Free online leaflet explains digital evangelism
A new leaflet has been published by Internet Evangelism Day, to
explain the potential of digital evangelism. This two-page overview
can be downloaded in Word or PDF formats, ready to print and use as a
handout. Users have complete freedom to adapt it, or republish it
(either extracts or in full) in print, web or email publications.

The PDF version is also an ideal addition to any website, providing a
one-click introduction to web outreach. Webmasters can link directly
to it, or add the file to their own server.

Digital Outreach and Mission Agencies

There are huge opportunities for digital ministry in the non-western
world. 1.5 billion people now use the Web, and 4 billion own a mobile
phone, the majority of them outside the West. A new article in
Lausanne World Pulse looks at this potential in detail:

One surprising fact is that online evangelism is for anyone, not just
the technically gifted. "There are many ways to share your faith
online, without any technical knowledge at all," says IE Day
Coordinator Tony Whittaker.

Church leaders who have already used these materials are excited.
"This is a huge help for small churches such as ours," writes a
minister from California. "I am glad to commend Internet Evangelism
Day," says elder statesman Rev John Stott.

26 April is an International Web Focus Day for Churches

"I recently discovered that over 500,000 of the population of my home
town use the networking website Facebook," writes a surprised
computer user. Remarkably, 1.5 billion people now access the Web for
a wide range of activities. A new internet service called 'Twitter'
recently enabled eyewitnesses to pass on to thousands of other people
their firsthand accounts (with pictures) of the jet that ditched in
the Hudson River, well before TV and radio could tell the story. The
digital world seems to change every time we blink!

How can Christians use this bewildering mix of technologies to share
the good news? One place to find answers is Internet Evangelism Day's
website. It provides detailed resources, ideas and strategies to help
Christians use what many leaders have called a 'God-given medium'.
These include a self-assessment tool for church websites, enabling
them to better reach out into their communities.

Internet Evangelism Day - as the name suggests - is also an annual
web-awareness focus day. Churches and other Christian groups can
build a short focus spot into their meetings on 26 April, to explain
to their members more about the potential for online evangelism, and
how anyone can be involved in this rewarding ministry. A customized
presentation (anything from 5 minutes to 50) can be easily created
using free downloads from IE Day's website: video clips, Powerpoint,
handouts, music and drama.

One surprising fact is that online evangelism is for anyone, not just
the technically gifted. "There are many ways to share your faith
online, without any technical knowledge at all," says IE Day
Coordinator Tony Whittaker.

Church leaders who have already used these materials are excited.

Thanks to Tony's suggestions, I found the IE problem within minutes,
it was the missing bracket that I mentioned in my reply to his idea.

The remaining problem is just the missing slides in Chrome.

On our church site - http://www.red-oak.org/ - I've got a video
welcome from the pastor in the sidebar. It displays with no problem in
FF, Opera, and Chrome. It also appears to show up in Mac Safari.  It
does not display with either IE 6 or IE 7, and I can not figure out
why.

Also, on the home page there is a slideshow that scrolls thru upcoming
events. This displays correctly on all browsers except Chrome. Again,
I don't know why, although this one doesn't bother me quite as much as
less than 1% of site vistors are using Chrome. The slide show does
bother me as 52% of site visitors are using IE.

Can anyone offer any suggestions for either problem? As always, I'm
grateful for any help.

Well, I use firefox, but at the end of the day, it has to show up in IE. FF is
gaining, but IE is still the leader especially among the less tech savvy web
surfer.

However, there is one possibility. Maybe your media plug in for that type of
file is not installed. You might try it on another computer and see what happens
there.

Thank you Tony!
It turns out that none of those solutions worked, BUT, while I was
trying them out, I noticed that the ">" was missing from one the
</param> tags. I fixed that and it now seems to be fine on IE.
I must have looked at that 100 times and did not see it, but when I
was trying your suggestions I saw it.

Now if I can figure out the slideshow in Chrome problem...

does it make any difference to add this line in the youtube code:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>
and/or putting

wmode="transparent" into the embed src line

or removed the fullscreen option in that line?

I have not been active on this list in years, but want to throw out info on an
event I am
hosting in Florida for church, missions, and para-church Web and IT pros. I hope
no one
minds. The cost is only $50 per person and pretty much just covers our food and
janitorial
costs.

http://fl.citrt.org is the link to the unconference wiki for the January 26th
event where we
are assembling Florida based Web & IT servants to talk about hurricane
preparedness,
response, and much more. One of the focuses will be on the role of the church
website
during during a disaster. Here is the invite from the wiki:

//The Florida CITRT will gather IT professionals from across Florida's diverse
churches
and ministries together to interact and participate in big ideas, new dreams and
new
perspectives. I would like to personally invite you to this unique opportunity
to meet
with large Florida churches and ministries this coming January 26th. You may be
familiar
with the National Church IT Roundtable events, but this will be a regional IT
Roundtable
event specifically for Florida ministries and the challenges we face. It will be
a relaxed,
unconference event with heavy focus on getting to know other IT Leaders and what
they
are doing.//

Thanks in advance for considering attendance at the event, and for sharing this
information with anyone you know serving full time in Web Ministry in a Florida
based
non-profit.

There are ways to do it without losing the folks with less resolutions. I
saw an article on this at Ask.com in regard to programming your pages so
that they would be "elastic". Web 2.0 stuff is still new to me but I too am
working on our web site, learning new technologies like CSS and Java as well
as PHP in place of CGI. It is truly not easy to teach an old dog new tricks.

Hi all

I've been checking out our website analyics lately while working on a major

upgrade of our site - http://www.humeridg echurch.org - for 2009. I

discovered an interesting thing as in the screenshot at

http://www.humeridg echurch.org/ screenres2report s.jpg - the percentage of

users with 800*600 resolution for the past year has not changed form the

past 6 months. Would it be safe to say that I could bump up the site to fit

more into 1024*768 and highwer resolutions?

It's a shame it's not free - and I don't know if it is constantly
updated to reflect the rapidly changing situation. However, it was
actually written by a Christian called Rachel, certainly when it was
first launched, with an emphasis on doing as much as possible for
