Church Hill includes the original land plot of the city of Richmond, Va. It is famous for St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me liberty or give me death" speech. It is also known for Chimborazo Park, where the largest American Civil War hospital was located. It is the site of the famous 1925 train tunnel collapse that buried an entire steam locomotive and killed four people. Also, Douglas Wilder, the first black governor in the United States and current mayor of Richmond, was born and raised here.
