Return to Sorrento

DAY 1: Depart from the USA.

DAY 2: SORRENTO Arrive in Rome and meet your ACIS Tour Manager. Journey south around the Bay of Naples to Sorrento. The rest of the day is free to explore this beautiful seaside town.

DAY 3: SORRENTO Today cross the Bay of Sorrento to Capri, the "Island of Dreams." Arriving on the island, take the funicular to the main piazza. Here you'll have time to wander through the numerous lanes and shop in the tiny artisan stores that line the square. Return to Sorrento for dinner.

DAY 4: ROME Set out this morning for Rome by way of Pompeii, the famous city perfectly preserved when an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD covered it in ash. See the villas of Roman holiday-makers and the chariot-grooved cobblestones. Continue on to Rome, the "Eternal City."

DAY 5: ROME Discover the beauty of Rome this morning on your guided morning sightseeing tour. You will visit St. Peter's Basilica. Entrances to the Vatican Museums—including Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel—and the Colosseum are also included today. The rest of the day is free to wander through centuries of history at the Forum, or relax by the Trevi Fountain.

DAY 6: ROME Enjoy a free day in Rome today, or opt for a full day excursion to Florence, the "Cradle of the Renaissance." After a short journey by high speed train, sightseeing will show you Michelangelo's David, Santa Croce and Piazza della Signoria.

DAY 7: ROME This morning is free to further explore Rome's riches. This afternoon you will see both the Rome of ancient emperors and that of Renaissance princes. First visit Hadrian's Villa, a three-mile complex outside the city in which the Roman Emperor Hadrian recreated the architectural styles he had seen in his travels and conquests. Next journey to the nearby Villa d'Este, built for a 16th century cardinal to suit his luxurious tastes. Stroll through the gardens and then return for your last evening in Rome.

DAY 8: Depart for the USA.
