Christians in Science (CiS) is a UK based international network concerned with the relationship between science and the Christian faith, open to scientists, teachers, students and all those with an interest in this dialogue. It is primarily a professional group, aimed at, but not limited to, Christians who work in science. It originated within and is affiliated to UCCF: the Christian Unions (formerly IVF).
Any member of CiS may join the group, as may any other person with a genuine interest in the relationship between the Christian faith and science
The purpose of the group is to support the aims of CiS by allowing members to discuss by email issues related to the relationship between science and the Christian faith
This does not extend to discussion of the relationships between science and non-Christian religions or of non-Trinitarian groups with Christian origins
Brief, one off notices of relevant events are welcome
All new members are moderated. When the moderators are satisfied that a member is posting on-topic messages that comply with these guidelines they will usually permit them to post unmoderated
Those posting anti-Christian propaganda or engaging in personal abuse are liable to be removed from the group. Email addresses that generate spam or persistently bounce list messages will be removed
The aims of CiS are:
To develop and promote biblical Christian views on the nature, scope and limitations of science, and on the changing interactions between science and faith
To bring biblical Christian thought on scientific issues into the public arena
To encourage Christians who are engaged in scientific work to maintain an active faith and to apply it in their professional lives
To communicate the Christian gospel within the scientific community
To stimulate responsible Christian attitudes and action towards care for the environment
To help Christians who are science students to integrate their religious beliefs and their scientific studies
