Clarity Of Vision
Minister Rick Holiday
Matthew 6:22-23 says:The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Our vision is enabled by the eye. The eye allows light to enter. So the eye is the lamp, or lens, of the body. If our eyes are functioning properly, then our vision will be clear. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. In other words, without clarity of vision we walk in darkness.
The word which is translated by clear is also translated single in the King James Version. The idea is that we should have a single-minded devotion to God. The message is very clear today. Without a focus on Christ as the Lord of our life, we become people devoid of spiritual understanding. The light we claim we have is darkness.
The wisdom that we live by is unreliable. The truth we claim to be true is slightly twisted. And Jesus says, "If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" How deceived we are if we think that we can know the truth of God apart from submitting to the will of God. What we need is a clear focus, a clear vision of Jesus Christ as our Lord.
Back-Up
Annagail Lynes
I was having problems with some of my neighbors. One of them had even become so abusive that the police had to be called in. But that all changed when a new person moved into the apartment next to me. Now that neighbor who was once abusive backs up when I am around. Why? Because my new neighbor has my back. He doesnt have to use a gun or his fists to exercise his power. His presence alone seems to do the trick.
Did you know that God is the same way when someone is hurting one of His children?
I John 4:4 informs us, "Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
That means that when you agree with Gods Word, when you are Born-again, God is backing you up. If someone hurts you, Daddy God and Big Brother Jesus will take care of that person.
So why are we still fearful? Because we lack boldness.
When Moses died, God appointed Joshua to take Moses place. In the first chapter of Joshua, God tells Joshua at least four times to "be strong and of good courage." He wanted Joshua to be bold.
Joshua didnt need to worry about what the Israelites were saying about him. He didnt need to try to fill Moses shoes. He needed to speak what God said and leave the consequences to God.
You and I have an advantage over Joshua, though. If youve accepted Jesus into your heart, your body is playing host to the Son of God. He is living inside you. You can boldly declare Gods Word because of Who lives in you.
Want victory? Want to be an overcomer? Pray for boldness. Stand on the promises you know. Realize God is ready to back you up in every situation. With God on your side, how can you be anything but a victorious overcomer?

Hi All!
Enjoy this issue and forward to anyone you know who would like it. Happy Memorial Day weekend. Although I think that is a strange thing to say when Memorial Day is really a time to remember the dead. Take a moment tomorrow and think of those who have lost their lives to give us the freedoms that we have today.

Do It!
Minister Rick Holiday
Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
God's predetermined plan for our lives is already fixed. Before we were even conceived in our mothers' wombs, God's plans for us had been put into place. Before Jeremiah knew God, God knew Jeremiah. We enter a world we didn't create. We grow into a life already provided for us. If we are going to live appropriately, we must be aware that we are living in the middle of a story that was begun and will be concluded by another. Jeremiah's salvation didn't start with Jeremiah. Jeremiah's truth didn't start with Jeremiah.
He entered the world in which the essential parts of his existence were already ancient history. So do we. Jeremiah, before he was born, was enlisted on God's side in this war against the devil, on his own: "I ordained you a prophet to the nations." The word "ordained" is, literally, "gave," God gives. He is lavishly generous. Before Jeremiah ever got it together he was given away. That is God's way. He did it with his own Son, Jesus. God so loved the world that He gave.
Some things we have a choice in, some we don't. In this we don't. It's the kind of world into which we were born. God created it. God sustains it. Giving is the style of the universe. Giving is woven into the fabric of existence. Jeremiah could have hung on to the dead-end street where he was born in Anathoth. He could have huddled in the security of his father's priesthood. He could have conformed to the dull habits of his culture. He didn't. He participated in the giving, throwing himself into his appointment. Wherever God's will may lead you, and whatever He may call you to do, wherever He requires you to live, whatever must be given up, and whatever must be taken on, I say DO IT!
Into The Light
Annagail Lynes
What kind of bad habits do you struggle with? Most people think that when they come to Christ that their bad habits will magically disappear. And some church people act like if you have any bad habits in your life that you must not truly be saved, but that couldnt be further from the truth. Christians or not, we are all people, and people make mistakes. People have bad habits.
If you are anything like me, you have poured your heart out in counseling sessions with your church leaders, stood in prayer lines, repented and vowed to do better. And still found yourself giving into that temptation the next time it presented itself, leaving you asking, "Whats wrong with me?"
Nothing. There is nothing wrong with you. The very fact that you are concerned about it is a good sign. Its the people who wont admit they have a problem that should worry.
Most people, at one time or another, struggles with some type of bad habit or addiction. Maybe its shopping too much, smoking, drinking alcohol, coffee, sweets, etc.
People dont want others to know about their problems, so they hide them in the closet, hoping that no one will ever find out about their secret.
When a problem is hidden in the dark, it will continue to haunt you. But once it is brought into the light, that is when you will be able to overcome it.
James 5:16 advises us to "Confess your faults one to another that ye may be healed..." As I said before, when we leave things in the dark, they continue to have a hold over us. In order to stop this cycle, we must find someone to confess our habits and addictions to. Once it is out in the open, then you will begin to heal in that area of your life.
Make sure to find someone you can trust to talk to. You dont want your sins to be broadcast all over your church, your neighborhood or your school. Instead go to your minister, youth pastor or a close friend.
Expose your bad habits and addictions to Gods light, and you will be amazed at how quickly they will crumble under the heat.

Trusting Completely
Minister Rick Holiday
Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the Lord, and said, "0 Loan my God, I pray Thee, let this child's life return to him." 1 Kings 17:21
Elijah literally spread himself across the body of the dead boy. Ceremonially, that was an unclean act, because a man of God was not to touch the dead. Some of you may be in the process of placing your own life before the Lord in this way. Things are critical, and only a miracle can breathe new life into your situation. Circumstances are totally out of your control. So you take it to your special place and, standing in the shadow of your God, you lay it out before Him, prostrating yourself before Him, pleading for His intervention, trusting completely in His miraculous power, leaning not on your own understanding.
No words can describe what happened in that little upstairs bedroom when the corpse began to stir and Elijah saw life come back into the boy's body. No words can describe being in the midst of such a trial and then watching God, in a miraculous moment or period of time, work it out. Only you who have been there can say, "Amen". Once again, words fail to describe the feelings of the mother, or the experience between mother and child at that moment. Now, that's what Elijah wanted this woman to see. He stepped back into the shadows so that she would see the Lord. Elijah wanted her to see what God had done and be impressed with Him, not His servant. And look at the results!
When the woman saw that her son was alive, she didn't see Elijah. She saw the Lord. If you wish to be a man or woman of God, it is essential that you face the impossible situations of life with faith, as Elijah did. All over this world, around us every day, are people who are looking for the truth to be lived out in the lives of those who claim it. Just as the widow watched Elijah, there are people watching you. They hear what you say you believe, but mainly they are watching to see what you do. Give Him the corpse of your life, and ask Him to revive those lifeless areas that need to be revived. If the situation calls for it, trust Him for a miracle, in his time, if it be his will, for your life.
Cry Out To God
Annagail Lynes
And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly... Luke 18:7-8
How many times should you pray for the same request? I have been taught two different schools of thought. One, that if you pray again, you weren't really praying in faith the first time. And two, that you should pray for the request as many times as it takes to get it answered.
In Luke 18, Jesus taught his disciples that they should pray always and not give up. To illustrate the point, Jesus told them a parable.
A judge, who didn't fear God or care about men, presided in a certain town. In that same town lived a widow woman. She kept coming to him with the same request: "'Grant me justice against my adversary."
Every time she asked, he refused. Again she came, again he refused. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and said, "Even though I don't fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!
"If we cry out to God night and day, God promises in Luke 18:7-8 that He will see that we get justice and quickly. If you want to see your prayers answered, determine to be persistent. In the end, persistence wins the race.

Motherhood
Minister Rick Holiday
1 Samuel 1:11 says: And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head
I find it very interesting that 1 Samuel begins with the story of a godly mother (Hannah). Her prayer to the Lord for a son, and Her faith commitment of her child to the Lord consumed the whole chapter. She devotes herself and her child to God, and herself to the child's training to bring him up to know, worship, and serve the Lord. But she also laid the foundation, even by the age of three, for her son to know, worship, and serve the Lord.
As a result, her son Samuel, became a man of God and a spiritual leader for God's people in a time of great need. What do most parents want for their children? What do you want for your child? For most, the answer is fame and fortune, position and power? Not Hannah since children were gifts from the Lord, she wanted to have a son whom she could give to God. Hannah had the biblical perspective of the goal of motherhood.
The biblical perspective sees children as stewardships, gifts from the Lord to be returned to Him. It's the perspective of preparing children to become servants of God rather than servants of themselves, the parents, or the world. Today is Mother's Day. If you have a Christian mother, you are blessed. If your mother is alive, you are doubly blessed. Mothers are special. For many of us, Mother's Day is special because we can see how our heritage of faith has been nurtured by our mothers, or our grandmothers. Happy Mother's Day!
But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
Isaiah 64:8
You are a beautiful vessel molded by the Great Potter--God. Most of us don't think of ourselves as beautiful but as cracked pots. Those cracks may represent abandonment, anger, abuse, divorce, etc. These issues have caused the foundation of our lives to literally crack under the pressure.
But think about this: when you light a candle inside a perfect vase and turn out the lights, what do you see? Nothing. However, when you light a candle inside a cracked pot and turn out the lights, what do you see? That's right--light.
We go through the circumstances and events in our lives, so that we can share our experiences with others. In the process, we may be able to prevent them from making the same mistakes we did. A woman who is being abused will listen to a woman who has been through that situation more than she would a counselor who hasn't. A teenager who is deciding whether or not to have sex will listen to a teenage mother tell her not to more readily than she will her parents.
Once the light of Jesus Christ is moved into our pots, or our lives, the cracks become not something to be despised but as signs of growth and maturity. The more cracks you have, the more God's light can shine through. Remember God made you a beautiful vessel for which His love and light to flow through. Let Him fill you with that love and light today.

It's Dew Time
Minister Rick Holiday
Deuteronomy 33:28-29 says:"Then Israel shall dwell in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, in a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew. Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places."
In the Hebrew, there is a correlation between the dew of God's anointing and power and strength that comes from God. By the power of the Spirit, in the form of His dew, we have the authority to dethrone the enemy's plans for destruction in our lives!!! No matter what the Devil have plotted, no matter what he's planned, all his plans, all the high places of the enemy can be taken down by those who have been anointed by this heavenly dew. The holy anointing dew that comes from the mountain of God…or, mountain dew, if you will!
According to the encyclopedia, “dew” is the name given to tiny, glistening drops of water, that often appear on plants and blades of grass early on clear mornings. If you sleep all day, you won't see the dew! Interesting! Just as the dew regenerates and renews the earth, that spiritual dew that comes from Heaven, His glorious presence, the anointing of the Holy Spirit renews you and I. God desires to drop His dew from heaven in little droplets of His anointing. The most significant point to remember from this devotion is,dew is only temporary! It's never permanent.
You might be sitting there thinking, 'hey, you just got me excited about the dew of God and now you're telling' me it won't last long.' What a tease. The reason you must recognize that dew doesn't last is that, if you always had dew, you wouldn't expect anything more! You wouldn't worry about when its going to rain. Never limit God to whatever He is doing right now in your life! The reason is because, no matter what He's doing in your life right now, and no matter how great it is, God has got something even greater waiting for you than you have ever known before.
The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
Psalm 118:6
I will--when said together, those two words can be the strongest words in the English language. Why? Because they denote choice. Even in the Garden of Eden, we find humans making their own choices. Eve could have chose not to talk to the serpent. She could have decided not to eat the fruit. Adam could have refused the fruit when Eve offered it to him.
Every day we make choices. Will I have the soup or the salad? Will I cheat at golf? Will I give back the extra change the cashier gave me? Will I have an affair? Every day we make up our minds to do the right thing or to do the wrong thing. Just as we have a choice in every thing we do, we can choose whether or not to fear.
God says in Isaiah 41:10 (Amplified Version), "Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice."
There is nothing to fear. If you know that God is on your side and that He will help you, fear cannot beat you. How can fear and God be in the same place at the same time? They can't. Don't let fear overtake your life. Choose instead to say "I will not fear because God is on my side."

Just Stand
Minister Rick Holiday
And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
2 Samuel 23:11-12
I've been ask numerous times why I choose the spiritual screen name Shammah. The meaning of the word Shammah is the lord is there or the lord is present. I actually didn't choose this name for the spiritual meaning of it. But I choose it because of the old testament man Shammah himself and what he stood for. Shammah's harvest was coming under attack by the enemy and all the people shammah assume would help him fight, in the end left him there by himself. Have you ever been like Shammah. You help everyone with their children, their marriage, or their ministry but when your in need they are no where to be found? "Lentils" are beans. (Old Saying, "That's not worth beans?" Meaning its not worth fighting over.)
Those beans might have been little but they were precious because they belonged to the Lord. The value of a thing is not always in its quantity or size. Today many people don't want to get involve because it not their marriage, or their ministry, or their problem, or their beans. A great way to test your friends is to ask them this question. Are You Going to Fight or Are You Going to Run? You aren't going to get by without a fight! (You can count on conflict!!!) Internal Conflict- "Self" External Conflict- "Outward sin" Infernal Conflict- "Satan. If you are going to reclaim your family you must prepare yourself to fight!!!! If you will fight, God will give the victory!!! The lesson to learn from shammah is an awesome one.
All the people he thought that believed in him left him and it sure look like defeat was coming his way. But shammah took a stand because he knew that if God be for him then who could be against him. His victory wasn't dependent on people but upon his faith in God. Have you ever felt surrounded by the enemy or faced overwhelming odds? God is never intimidated by the size of the enemy or the complexity of a problem. Shammah wasn't much of a force to attack the enemy or defeat the enemy. But while everyone else was afraid, he trusted God, knowing that the size of the enemy had nothing to do with God's ability to help him. God honored the faith and brave actions of Shammah with a tremendous victory. God's game plan for Shammah was plainly, to take a stand! If your beans (marriage, ministry, or health) is under attack. Just take a stand and see the salvation of the Lord! Pretty simple.
I have been a fan of spy novels. The intrigue, the mystery...the very qualities that have annoyed me about God.
When God started to reveal the plan He had for my life, He gave me bits and pieces, never any more or less than I needed to know at that particular moment. Just like the military and government, God works on a "need-to-know" basis only.
And for a long time, I was upset by that. After all, I am the type of person who reads the end of the book first to know if it ends okay. You know what? I have read the end of the Bible and everything does turn out fine.
But when times are tough and I feel like God is a million miles away and that He isnt giving me the information I want (not need), I hold onto one promise: Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
I dont need to know anything other than that factthat God will work everything together for my good because I love Him and because I am called according to His purpose.
Holding onto that promise is like knowing the ending to a movie, a book or a television show. Nothing can shake you if you know the ending. It is the truth that you know that sets you free. And thats all you need to know.

"Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think..." Ephesians 3:20 (NAS)
This is not only a description of God's ability, but His desire to work on our behalf. the apostle Paul had become confident in God as the God who provides. Look at how he expressed that in the Scripture. He could have said that God is able to do some of what we ask. But he didn't. He said God is able to do anything that we ask, "all that we ask." But he didn't stop there. We may ask for certain things, but we would like to ask for more. We can think of far greater things to ask for than we have the courage to ask for. But Paul even includes them.
He said God is able to do "all that we ask or think." But he didn't stop there. He goes on to say that God is able to do more than that. God is able to do "beyond all that we ask or think." That is great! It is certainly enough. But Paul didn't stop there. He said that God is able to do "abundantly beyond all that we ask or think." WOW! But he didn't stop there. He said that God is able to do "exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think." Do you get the sense that God can provide just the right thing for you? There is nothing God cannot do for you. You can believe it!
You see, God only blesses those who are open to His blessing. If you want to shut your life to the blessing of God, He will allow you to do so. It's not that the blessing is not there for you. God desires to bless you. It's just that He will not force Himself upon you. If you want to go your way, do your own thing, be your own boss, trust in your own bank account, trust in your own intelligence and wisdom, then He will let you do so. He does so out of His mercy. He knows all of that will fail. And He desires for you to become so frustrated in doing your own thing that you will turn your heart back to Him and open your heart again to the possibilities of God. Are you at that place where God can bless you? Are you at that place where God can provide just what you need?
Did you know that you are in the army of God? Your uniform and protection are the armor of God listed in Ephesians 6. You have an enemythe devil and his cohorts. You have ea commanding officerGod. And your assignment is to win people to Christ and to defeat the enemy in the process.
But did you also know that the officers of Gods army move up through the ranks just as an officer in Earths armies?
Imagine for a moment that you are a First Lieutenant in the Air Force and your commanding officer gives you the security clearance and told you to perform the duties of a Colonel. You couldnt do it. You havent had enough training, enough preparation to carry out that order.
The same thing happens in Gods army. We see people around us who God has given new cars, new houses, million dollar ideas, and we want that. We feel jealous because we dont have what others have. Why? Because we arent at the same level as they are. We are wanting a Colonels blessing with a First Lieutenants training, and it doesnt work that way.
But when we reach that same level, we will be able to receive those type of blessings too.
You wouldnt give a five-year-old a gun. You would wait until he was older before teaching him to shoot a gun. He must learn all the necessary lessons before you let him shoot it at the shooting range or when duck hunting.
Blessings can be as dangerous as bullets in we dont handle them correctly. Therefore, we must learn all the necessary lessons before receiving those blessings. We must prove that we can handle them properly.

Walk Worthy Of The Lord
Minister Rick Holiday
that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work (Colossians 1:10b NIV).
A literal translation of the phrase "live a life worthy of the Lord" is "walk worthy of the Lord." The idea of our life as a walk is a very Scriptural one. Our spiritual life is a journey, a walk. We walk the pathway God has set before us, and we do it all to please him. Our calling as Christians is to live our lives in such a way that God is glorified and pleased. Do you know how to do this? Do you know how to walk in such a way as to please God in everything you do?
We must learn how to walk spiritually just as we learned how to walk physically. Just as our parents taught us how to walk physically, so the Spirit of God teaches us how to walk spiritually. Christianity is something you must be and do. You can't do it without being it, but you must do it or you can't be it. Who you are and how you live go together. The call of God, the prayer of Paul, the need of the hour is for Christians to walk worthy of the Lord. The highest privilege in life is to walk worthy of the Lord, to live a life pleasing to God.
If we are going to walk in such a way as to please God in everything, we must walk in increasing knowledge. "For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10)." The emphasis of Paul's prayer was that we needed to grow in our knowledge of God. We need to know his will. We need spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we need more of it.
Satan sends distractions into our lives to sidetrack us from doing the purpose God has for our lives. That distraction could take the form of an ungodly relationship that puts you off-track for several years. Or that distraction could be a sin that is a constant in your life, something that you struggle to keep under control. Other distractions are mild, and these are sometimes the most harmful. For example, you may love to read novels. Soon that may become all you want to do. You begin to have an obsession and start put off the things you really need to get done. They are harmful because you dont see anything is wrong until it is too late.
Satan isnt as clever as we give him credit to be. He uses the same techniques over and over again. And this particular technique can be found in the Garden of Eden.
Adam and Eve were told that they could eat of any fruit of any tree in the Garden of Eden except one. Imagine how many trees there must have been in that garden. Fruit of all shapes and sizes were at their disposal. But Satan distracted Eve from the rest of the trees, the plan of God, by focusing her attention on the one tree she was not allowed to eat from. He showed her how beautiful it was and told her that she wouldnt die if she ate it. Instead her eyes would be opened and she would know good and evil.
How many times has Satan distracted you by dangling something in front of your eyes that seems so beautiful? How many times have you thought, "Oh, if I could just be this instead of that," "If shed go out with me, Id be happy," "If I could only afford that car..." You see what it on the other side of the fence and you think that it is beautiful, and that if you only had it, you would be happy. You do anything to get itlie, cheat, stealand when you get it, you find that it comes with its own set of problems.
When you are doing the will of God for your life, fulfilling those dreams God planted within you, Satan will try to distract you. Just keep your dream in front of you at all times and never allow Satan to break your focus.

2. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. Exodus 3: 2,3
Every truth of scripture is like a coin with two sides to it. This lesson is no exception. Yes, the burning bush experience is a sovereign one. God chooses to give it when and to whom He will. But notice, too, the other side of the coin. This was an experience that Moses consciously CHOSE. Look at the scripture in Exodus 3.
In verse three, Moses says, "I will now turn aside and see this great site..." The bible does not say that God demanded that Moses come to the bush, or even that He called him. God placed the bush near Moses path and allowed Moses to make the choice. Likewise, I believe that we can fail to recognize when God wants to speak personally to us. We should never think lightly of handling the Word of God, whether in hearing, delivering it, or the study of it.
Moses was under the sovereign call of God for his life, but if he had not investigated the burning bush, he might never have been the great man of God that he became. Are you, dear reader, always looking for the Voice of God when the bible is opened? Do you recognize that God could speak to you in a personal way every time you open the scripture to study or read? Respect the word of God and God's ability to use it in your life!!!
Mark 10:16
Alexis Varghese
It hasnt been that long since I have accepted Christ in my heart. To be honest sometimes I feel like a child whenever I am in gods presence. I guess it is because I am just born into this relationship. Mark 10: 16 says, And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
Jesus is the person that took the children in his arms and blessed them. Many people think that children are not thinking into reality, but they had more faith in christ than the adults did. God wants us to be his children. He made us and he loves us. He just wants us to run into his arms and bless us.
We might have had our faith in christ for many years, but I think that once you come into his presence you feel like a child again. He wants to be our father and he wants to bless us, we just have to love him.
The Word Is Truth
Annagail Lynes
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
To me, faith has always been this mysterious substance. I thought that it was feeling like love or happiness. I thought you either had it or you didn't. But faith is really just choosing to believe the Word of God over your feelings. Feelings are not an accurate judge of what is going on around you. When a knock comes out my door, I can fear that it might the police bringing my teenager home or to report that a family member has been in an accident.
However, when I look outside, it could be my neighbor coming to offer me a piece of leftover cake. In that case, my feelings of fear wouldn't have been an accurate indication of what was going on. Instead of letting ourselves become troubled by the tragedies we see around us and on the news, we need to go to the Word and see what God says.
Terrorist threats, biological warfare and a failing economy might be fact, but God's Word is the truth. Every circumstance around us must conform to the Word. Choose to believe that God shall supply all your needs instead of the Wall Street Journal. Choose to believe that no evil will befall you, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling instead of CNN. Believe the most accurate judge of what is really going on--God.

What If Easter Had Never Happened?
Minister Rick Holiday
17. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 1 Corinthians 15:17-20
Easter has become a wonderful spring celebration -- a rite of passage of sorts. It marks the inauguration of spring and with it the anticipation of warmer weather. We expect to soon see the flowers blooming, the landscape turning a rich green. We celebrate with picnics and Easter egg hunts. The commercial establishment recognizes this time by announcing a sale. And, of course, on Easter Sunday morning, we all arrive at church in our Sunday best. But what about the real meaning of Easter? The Bible tells us the real meaning of Easter is the resurrection of Christ. Christian worship itself testifies to the resurrection of Christ.
The fact that Christians worship on Sunday, the first day of the week, instead of on Saturday, the Sabbath, testifies that the resurrection is the pivotal truth of all of Christianity. But what if Easter had never happened? Think about that. Would that make a difference in your life? Indeed, life would be quite different had Easter never happened. Without His resurrection, life is hopeless. What if Easter had never happened? If Christ has not been raised, then we have no forgiveness. It says, in verse 17, that "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins."
Had Easter never happened, then the Christian faith is worthless and we are still trapped in our sins. There is no forgiveness if Christ has not been raised. There is a blessed alternative found in verse 20. "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead." On that first Easter morning when Mary arrived at the tomb, she found it empty. He came out of that tomb so that He could come into our hearts and give us hope for the future, forgiveness for the present and the past, and faith for daily living. The tragedy not that the tomb is empty but that there are many whose hearts are empty. If Christ had not been raised, then life would be meaningless. But He has been raised. He's alive! The challenge is to allow Him to live in us and through us.
When people think of Easter, they think of the Easter Bunny, Easter baskets, egg hunts and candy. They dress up and drive to church. A place they haven't darkened since Christmas. They stroll in church in their new clothes and Easter bonnets. At church, they hear the same message about how Jesus was crucified and how He rose from the dead on the third day. And as soon as they walk out the door, the message of Jesus' sacrifice for us fades from their memory.
People die every day. People are put to death every day. What makes Jesus' death so special?
Picture it: the Holy Spirit caused Mary to conceive a child. Mary-a virgin--was to have the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, kicking and growing within her womb. He was born and had to endure the everyday trials of childhood, so He could understand how we feel. After He began His public ministry, He, with His disciples--made up of fishermen, a doctor and a tax collector--traveled around the countryside. He didn't have permanent place to lay His head. Today we would call Him homeless and unemployed. Most likely, we would call Him a drifter, a wanderer or even a bum.
Then He got caught up in a political scandal. The Pharisees wanted Him executed because He told the truth--that He was the Son of God, King of the Jews, the Messiah. They thought He was lying. Their wish was granted. They stripped Jesus of His robes and tied Him to a whipping post, where they beat His bare back thirty-nine times with a cat-of-nine-tails until His skin hung on the whip. They nailed His hands and feet to the cross. Long stake nails--not tiny tack nails. He wore a crown of thorns that dug into His skull. A sign above His head read "King of the Jews," mocking His identity. He died, but the good news is that three days later, He rose from the dead.
Romans 3:23 says, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Since the fall of Adam, we were condemned to death because of our sins, but Jesus died for us, for our sins. Some people say that they wish it was them who hung on the cross instead of Jesus. However, it could only be Jesus because He was without sin.
What does Jesus' death mean to us?
1. Forgiveness of Sins. Most importantly, it means that He died for our sins. According to Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Instead of going to hell when we die, heaven will be our home, if we have invited Jesus into our hearts. We have that assurance, And if we sin after we are saved, we have the I John 1:9 remedy, which declares "If we confess our sins, He [Jesus] is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
2. No Condemnation. Romans 8:1 maintains "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." When you sin and go to God and ask Him to forgive you, if you continue to feel guilty or unforgiven, you are under condemnation. "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities" (Psalm 103:10). Isaiah 43:25 goes one step further by stating, "I, even, I am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." We need to be less sin-conscious, and more righteous-conscious. Most people think that being in right-standing with God means that their behavior needs to perfect. As soon as you become a child of God, you are in right-standing with God, and it has nothing to do with how you behave, Although you should strive to behave according to the guidelines God has set down in the Bible.
3. Physical And Emotional Healing. In Isaiah 53:4-5, "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." This not only means that Jesus took our sicknesses and diseases on the Cross, but He also took our emotional hurts. He carried everything that could ever hurt you. He is a loving Father, and whatever hurts you, hurts Him.
4. Redeemed From The Curse Of The Law. In Deuteronomy 28, God has written the curses we will receive if we sin. However, Romans 8:2 tell us "because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." This means that we no longer have to live in sickness, sin, or any of the curses. In fact, you are redeemed from every curse in Deuteronomy 28.
If God went through all the trouble of sending His Son to die instead of allowing all of us to pay the price for our own sins, we should accept that He did it out of His great love for us. I challenge you to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the revelation of God's love to you. You will be glad you did!

Inner Purity
Minister Rick Holiday
Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day
Isaiah 65:5
This verse is where many use the phrase "holier than thou." God use it to mock the peoples religious arrogrance. I think one of the dangers of religion is that it can make you feel more superior to others, because you practice rituals and they don't. God is so irritated by this attitude he compared it to smoke in the nose. Are you concerned about your outward appearance or your inner purity.
I believe God doesn't care whether you look good and clean on the outside. He is more concerned about what's in your heart. Many dress up because they want to look nice for church because God deserves their very best. If that was really true, then all us men should be wearing tuxedos and women should be wearing formal gowns. Does that mean that people don't love God as much if they wear something from Walmart instead of an upscale store?
Don't get me wrong, I like to dress nice at church. People who know me would agree. But that's not what church is all about. For some people, the most spiritual thing they do on Sunday morning is getting dress up for church. Amen! People can only see what's on the outside, but underneath, all of us don't look so nice. Saints, God is able to see deeper than our shirts or our skin. So what is the most spiritual thing you do on Sunday?
Matthew 5:16
Alexis Varghese
Once we are saved, we figure out what we have to do in order to be a true Christian. Some people just accept Christ and they dont even change their lifestyles, but Matthew 5: 16 says, In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.
God put a light in our heart, which, is Jesus living in us. When we first accept Christ into our lives, people see a change in us. They wonder, What makes them different from me? Sometimes, you dont even need to tell people that you are changed, they see it in your actions. We have to be different from other people because we have the light of Jesus. Jesus showed us light, so we have to show other people the light of Christ.
While we are doing this, we are praising our father in heaven. People see that you honor and praise god in your life. So, instead of figuring out why am I different from the person next to me, think that you have the light of Jesus and you have to pass it on.
As Your Soul Prospers
Annagail Lynes
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
III John 2
I was struggling to get healed in my physical body. I know what the Word says.
I know that Isaiah 53:5 says, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
I know that Psalm 103:3 tells us that God "forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."
But I still wasnt any closer to being healed, but God gave me a revelation on III John 2. This scripture sounds great, right? Health and wealth in the same promise. How wonderful is that?
But this scripture comes with a condition. You get as much health and wealth as your soul prospers.
If God were to give you the million dollars that you want without your soul prospering, you might waste it on alcohol, drugs and other frivolous things.
If God healed your body while you are still doing drugs, you will only pollute your body again.
How do we prosper our souls? By renewing our minds to the Word of God. Read the Word every day. Study it. And quote it in every situation. Slowly but surely your mind will conform to the Word. And where the mind goes, the body follows.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. Everything is fine in my part of the world.
Think about this for a moment: God knows when you sit and when you stand. He knows your thoughts before you think them, your words before you say them. God knows your heart better than you do. And He knows how much you can handle. So, when God allows certain situations to come your way the you think you can't handle, remember that God knows you can handle them. We can handle so much more than we think we can when we allow God to help us. Alone, we conquer nothing. But with Him, we can conquer everything.

God Doesn't Steer Parked Cars
Minister Rick Holiday
Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons Philippians 1:1
Notice that he is writing to all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi. The implication is not simply that they happened to be at that specific location but that they were there for a reason. God had placed them there. They were there to do God's work in that place. Do you see this? Do you see that you are placed in a specific location by divine Providence?
It doesn't matter what your denomination, your social status or what side of the tracks you was born on. God has a purpose for your life in this place. Where are you now? You are in this place. You are where God wants you to be. The real question is what are you going to do here? So many Christians just sit and wait. What are you waiting for? Do you think that God is going to hit you over the head?
Are you waiting for the lightning to strike? Are you waiting for some miraculous sign? Quit waiting! Start acting. God doesn't steer parked cars. When you get moving, God will start guiding. The point is that God has a purpose for your life -- a ministry for you. If you want to enjoy your life, you must reaffirm your freedom from sin and your fidelity to Christ; you must realize your position as a saint and your purpose to do God's will.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it
shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21
How many times has your mouth got you into trouble? If you are anything like me, your mouth is the source of most of your problems. The tongue is such a little thing, but it can land you in hot water, if used to slander someone else, to gossip, to tell a lie, etc.
Matthew 12:36 warns us, "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."
The next verse expounds on this by saying, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
Our words are like seed that we plant in the ground. If we speak good things, such as agreeing with the Word of God, encouraging another person, thankfulness, we will reap a harvest of good things in our lives.
If, however, we speak bad things, such as complaining, gossiping and discouragment, we will reap a harvest of bad things in our lives.
We are indeed snared by the words of our mouth.
Mark 11:23 says that we can have whatever we say.
That is like God giving us a blank check and allowing us to do whatever we want with it. But there is a catch: you can have whatever you say--good or bad. So, if you say bad things, you will get bad things. If you say good things, you will get good.
Think about what you have been saying. Has it been good or bad? Determine to speak good things, to agree with the Word of God. If you do, it will change your thinking. And where the mind goes, the body will follow. And so will your circumstances.

Get Up Again
Minister Rick Holiday
5. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
Luke 9:5,6
Jesus told the disciples that if they were not accepted in a certain village that they should "shake the dust off their garments as a testimony against them." Jesus was teaching a spiritual principle that we need to understand and practice today. The very act of "shaking off the dust" was a symbolic way of saying, "I don't want anything in that particular city to remain on me.
I don't want their bitterness, their prejudices, or their lack of faith to remain a part of me." Jesus didn't want their feeling of failure to hold them down. He was telling then to just shake it off and move on. Some of you are carrying around a load of dust and dirt on you personally.
You have failed in the past and that failure is dragging you down and holding you back. Maybe you have fallen and failed the lord but get up and shake off the dust and move on. Don't become a victim of your own past. Once you have recognized your mistake, move on! Proverbs 24:16 says "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again." Amen!
I John 4:18
Alexis Varghese
We all are afraid of something. Some of us afraid of heights, water, or material things. But what some people, including myself are afraid of love. It is just the fear of being rejected. I John 4:18 says, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Fear is not made of love, because fear hurts you, but love doesnt. Perfect love casts out fear. There is no point in fearing love because true love will never hurt you. God gives us perfect love. He will always give us perfect love and will never leave us. Thats what truly love is. It is always being there for you every time of your life.
God gives us perfect love, so we should show perfect love to everybody else. But if we still fear love, we havent been made perfect in love.
The Key Of Consistency
Annagail Lynes
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which
shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:42
Do you know what I think is a major secret to life? Being consistent. In everything you do in life, whether it be reading the Word or running a business, consistency is important.
Most people aren't consistent. They want the blessing, the promise from God, but don't want to do the work to get it.
Being a child of God isn't a free ride. Yes, we are saved by grace and not works. Yes, we are in right standing with God because of the blood Jesus shed on the cross. But in order to receive the promises set forth in God's Word, we must stand on them, not once, not twice but as many times as it takes to possess it.
If we don't read the Bible every day, we won't know how to act God's Way. When you don't put Word in your heart, you won't be able to get it out when you need it. If we don't keep on top of our jobs, we will be fired. If we don't be consistent with our businesses, we will file backruptcy.
Without consistency in our lives, we will run ourselves right into the ground. Be consistent in every thing you do and watch the blessings chase you down.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. Everything is fine in my part of the world.
Do you know that the quickest way out of a trial is to praise your way out? It's not to complain about your problems or focus on the situation you are in. It is to praise God that He is God and that He is well able to get you out of the situation. You can do this through singing, dancing, clapping your hands or just praying from your heart. Try it today!
I am still looking for two columnists for the Christian pen pal newsletter I published called Christian Connection. One to do a money management column (from a biblical perspective) and the other to a craft column. If you are interested, contact me at christianconnection@....

Every Idle Word
Minister Rick Holiday
36. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37
Most of us underestimate the importance of the words that come out of our mouths. There is one thing I can say about everyone reading this devotion that "you are full of it." Please don't be offended. Let me make a point here. Full of what?
Everyone is full of something. Let me show you one way of telling what they are full of. Just listen to what they talk about. The things that person spends the most time talking about fills his or her heart.
Saints, always know that people are listening to everything you say and they are paying very close attention to your words. If you feed your mind and heart with the word of God, bible teaching, and worship music, good things will be reflected in your speech and actions.
the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)
What is faith? If you are anything like me, you may have grown up in church, attended three services a week for fifteen years, and still not know what faith really is. For years, I thought that faith was some mysterious substance that I had to obtain.
Determined to find out what faith really was, I went on a quest, reading everything I could on the subject. I brought a box of tapes out of the storage room one day. As I went through them, I found a teaching tape on faith. Creflo Dollar explained to me exactly what faith is.
Faith equals the Word of God. The Amplified Bible says "Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for.." We can only have that assurance when we stand on the promises of the Word.
When we go through trials, all of us, at one time or another, have complained about the circumstances we are in. We are essentially saying that we have more faith in our circumstances than in the Word. We feel depressed, we feel pressed on every side.
But the latter part of Hebrews 11:1 tells us "...being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. "
What does that mean? It means when we are in a tough situation, instead of speaking about our circumstances, we need to speak what the Word says and that situation. For healing, we need to quote healing scriptures (Isaiah 53:4-5, Jeremiah 30:17, 1 Peter 2:24). For finances, look to Philippians 4:19. For protection, Psalm 91 is an excellent place to go. We need to speak the Word until it is more real to us than our circumstances.
Sickness, lack of money and marital problems may be facts in your life. But Gods Word is the truth. We must be convinced that Gods Word is the final authority, and that sickness, poverty and everything other problem must conform to the Word.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. My family and I are doing fine.
Aren't we glad that God is a second-chance God? If God didn't give me a second-chance, a third and a millionth chance, I wouldn't be serving God today! The question is how many times do we give people second-chances? How many times do we write people off when they make a mistake? Next time a friend makes a mistake, an error in judgement, think of all the times God has given you another chance.

Who Was Influencing Whom?
Minister Rick Holiday
3. And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war. 4. And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord to day. 2 Chronicles 18:3,4
Jehoshaphat was a good king, but he made a bad friend. He thought he was strong enough to make this friendship without compromising his faith. He probably believed he could influence Ahab for good, bring him UP to his level, but instead, Jehoshaphat found himself going down to Ahab's level. It's not enough to give things up, to separate ourselves from the practices of the world.
If we don't seek the lord and build into our lives a vital relationship with Him, there will still be an emptiness within, a dissatisfaction with life that can overthrow a Christian's faith. The only reason the world desires the friendship of the godly is to bring us down to its level. We will never influence the world for good by adopting its music, incorporating its message, or using its methods.
Look at the direction Christian music and ministry have gone, and tell me, who's influencing whom? Look at the CD packaging of many popular "Contemporary" Christian music artists and tell me who is influencing whom. Are these efforts making the world more godly, or the "godly" more worldly? It's not enough to cut off our relationship with the world; we must also learn to walk in our relationship with God. So who is really influencing whom? Not an easy question as we want to believe church.
Matthew 28: 19-20
Alexis Varghese
What is Gods plan for us? Is it just to be good people and to live a good life? That is true, but God gave us a purpose in our lives. It is to go spread the word of God and to obey his commands. Matthew 28: 19-20 says, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
What Jesus was saying was that we should be disciples of all nations, spreading the word of God to other people. Think about it. God gave us a beautiful thing, once we understood that Jesus Christ died for our sins. Shouldnt we tell other people what Christ has done for us? What he did for us was so great that we cant hold the happiness in us, but we should spread it to people we know. We should teach them about the Holy Spirit and everything God has commanded them. God will always be with you, no matter what situation it is and he will be with you through the end of time.
What God has given us, is worth more than all the money in the world. Remember how you were, without God and remember how you are now with God, dont you think another person deserves to have the happiness Christ gave you?
Sitting At His Feet
Annagail Lynes
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which
shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:42
Have you ever sat in the presence of God? I am not talking about reading the Bible, about praying or doing good works, which we should do. When was the last time you just sat in Gods presence?
Imagine what God must think when we only come to Him when we want something or when we need forgiveness. He is the Creator of the Universe. Imagine the wealth of knowledge He has that He would love to share with us. Yet we dont talk the time to just sit at His feet.
Remember Martha and Mary? Jesus came over to Martha and Marys house. Probably unannounced. Martha scrambled in the kitchen to throw together a meal. Most likely she was grumbling to herself, "Why didnt He send word that He was coming," "I dont have enough food in this house to feed all of these people" and "Why isnt that sister of mine helping me?"
Finally Martha gathers the courage and confronts Jesus, "Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me."
Jesus replied, "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
What is that one needful thing? What was Mary doing while Martha was in the kitchen? Luke 10:39 tells us , "And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word."
So, we can conclude that what we need is to do as Mary did and sit at Jesus feet and hear His Word. One Word from God will change your life. You may not have time to just sit at Jesus feet, but you need to.
We all need to drink water, but for twenty-three years, drinking water wasnt one of my main priorities. But a kidney stone made it one of my main priorities. Now I rarely go a day without drinking it. We are like that with sitting in Gods Presence. A lot of us go days, months, even years and decades without sitting at His feet and listening for His voice. But one tragedy, one problem, will either cause us to run to the Throne or from the Throne. At Gods feet is where you will find the answers and comfort for your every problem you face. Make it your priority today!

Just like you shouldn't need a special day to buy your husband, wife or special loved ones presents, cards and just to say "I love you." But What About You?
Minister Rick Holiday
13. When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14. And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matthew 16:13-15
One evening Jesus was sitting around with his disciples. He asked them about people's opinions of him. Who were people saying that he was? The disciples gave him various comments that they had heard. Some people were saying that he was a prophet. Others were saying that he was John the Baptist, or Elijah, or Jeremiah.
Then he turned the question to them. "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15 NIV) Christians should never be gullible. We should never merely accept a teaching because it sounds good, or because of whom is doing the teaching. Don't be deceived. Do be discerning. Put the teaching to the test. You see the issue was what they had come to believe about him.
This is still the central issue of Christianity. Just don't take what I say, or your preacher says, or the TV evangelist says for granted. Look past the person and put their words to the test. Notice that Jesus makes it personal in this verse. He asks each one of them what their opinion was of him. So I ask this question. So who do you say that Jesus really is? For our answer should be the same as Peters. (16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
"For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time."
Proverbs 2:6-9 (Living)
Do you want to make the right decision every time? I know that I do.
When God called me into the ministry, I was afraid of making the wrong decision. I still am to a smaller extent. I worried over every little detail. Did God want me to put in that article into the magazine or this one? Did God want this type of cover or that one? This kind of paper or that kind?
Even when I asked Him, which was ninety-nine percent of the time, I wondered if I really heard from God.
My biggest worry was whether I heard from God in the first place about starting the magazine, about taking over an existing newsletter from a woman who was giving it up. Right or wrong, I learned that I had to make a decision and stick with it.
James 1:8 says that a double-minded man (or woman, in my case) is unstable in all his/her ways.
Indecision causes us to be fearful and fruitless. Not to mention, it wastes a lot of our time.
Even if we make a wrong decision, if we talk to God and repent, He will put us back on the right track.
Confess Proverbs 2:6-9 every day, and you will find that God will help you to make the right decisions every time. The promises are not activated in the our lives just because we are Christians. They are activated when we speak them out of our mouths on a continuous basis.
Consult God every step of the way, and He will give you above and beyond anything you could ever hope for, dream or desire.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. My family and I are doing fine.
Take a look at the rest of Philippians four, you realize that there is a central theme. In the sixth and seventh verse, Paul writes, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
God is telling us what to do when we encounter a stressful situation. We should take it to God, thank Him for the answer and then knowing that God is handing the problem will give us the peace that passes all understanding.
He even tells us what to think on while we wait for the answer in verse eight: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Aren't you glad we can break the worry habit?

A Dying Art
Minister Rick Holiday
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective James 5:16
Is prayer a dying art among Christians? I fear that the answer to that question is "yes." I hope I am wrong. Prayer is something we say we believe in. The truth is, we believe this Scripture. But if we believe in prayer, why do we not spend more time in the practice of it? All of us truly believe in our hearts that God is real and that He answers prayer.
And I believe that we all have a real desire to be able to effectively pray so that things happen. And, while we intend to pray, before we know it the week is gone and we haven't spent much time at all in prayer. The passage we have before us is perhaps one of the strongest encouragement's to prayer found in the Scripture.
We see here that prayer is powerful to change our lives and to change the situations we find ourselves in. Prayer is not simply something we do for ourselves. It is something we do for the sake of all mankind. Perhaps the answer lies in a little bit of all of this. But nonetheless, it is troubling to think of how little we Christians actually pray!
I Timothy 4:12
Alexis Varghese
In our daily lives of being a Christian, we go through a lot of criticisms. People say that Christians are hypocrites or that god isnt real. Well, I Timothy 4:12 says Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
We shouldnt listen to what other people say because it will put us down. But we should set ourselves as an example, so that other people can see us as a follower of Christ. I know that words do hurt a person really bad, but Christ also got hurt by so many peoples words. He still kept his faith and his love. If another person is treating you bad, still treat them good, because they are going to think that this person is so different from everybody else, and I want what this person has.
Christ gave us a job. It was to get more people into his kingdom. People will judge you and hurt you with their words, but we still have to show love to them, because Christ did the same thing. Dont we want god to be happy with us?
Coming Home

What is the real meaning of the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15?
I was watching a 7th Heaven re-run. You know the show with the minister, his wife and his seven children. Mary, the oldest daughter, had been sent away to New York to live with her grandparents after she got herself into a lot of debt and trouble. In this episode, she is returning home permanently. The father is angry because Mary doesn't seem to know that she has done anything wrong. He cites the parable of the Prodigal Son, saying that it is the story of a son who acknowledges what he did wrong and that is why the father welcomes him home.
We should be repentant when we have done wrong. There's no dispute there. But my question is would the father have been any less excited to see his son if his son hadn't realized that he had done wrong?
Think about this: the Bible tells us that every day the father looked for his son to come home. As he watched the road, just hoping to see his son, he probably thought about every horrible thing that could have happened to him, such as his son coming home hurt or even dead. When he finally saw his son whole and alive, he probably couldn't contain his excitement. All he cared about was the fact that his son was alive and back home where he belonged. When his son acknowledged that he was wrong, it was icing on the cake. Just like the father in this parable, God is waiting for us to come home too.
Now look at the Lord's Prayer, the model of how we should pray:
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Matthew 9-12
First, we acknowledge that God is our Father. Second, we praise God for Who He is and for what He has done in our lives. Third, we pray for others--our family, church, nation and so forth. Fourth, we ask that God's will be done in our lives. Then we repent of our sins.
Why don't we repent of our sins first?
Imagine that your children only came to you when they had done something wrong or when they wanted something. That would get pretty tiring. Yet that's what most of us do to God. We only come to Him when we need forgiveness, a blessing for our food or when we want something. Although we should come to God with a spirit of repentance, we should also come to Him to praise Him, thank Him and just spend time in His presence.
Remember that you are in right standing with God, not because of anything you have done but because Jesus shed His blood on the cross for your sins. Take ten minutes out of your busy schedule today and just sit in God's presence. You'll be amazed at how refreshing coming home to God can be.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. My family and I are doing fine.
Minister Joel Osteen says that he confesses Proverbs 2:6-9 (Living) every day to help him make right decisions:
"For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield, protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will know how to find the right course of action every time."
By confessing this every day, God leads him to make right decisions every time. Wouldn't you like to do that? If you want Joel Osteen's result, you must do what Joel Osteen did.
Enjoy this issue and forward to anyone you know who would like it.

Believe And You Shall See
Minister Rick Holiday
See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."Then all of you came to me and said, "Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to." The idea seemed good to me; so I selected twelve of you, one man from each tribe.
Deuteronomy 1:21-23
Apparently the Lord had told the people to get ready to take the land and the people decided that they should check it out first. So, 12 men are selected to make the journey through the land that was promised; one man from each tribe. Like so many of us, these Hebrews believed that seeing was believing. It was not enough that this was the land that was promised. The Israelites wanted to see for themselves.
We often do the same thing. God says trust me . . . we say, "Not so fast!" We want to see the plan. We want to sign off on God's intentions. Yet the Biblical approach is that you believe first . . . then you will see. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe." (John 20:29) Please understand, Jesus is not saying that faith means believing even though it doesn't make sense.
Any time we enter new territory in our lives we must take a step of faith. If we wait until we can be sure of everything before we do anything, we will never extend beyond the safety of our own little world. We can't see what we have not experienced. And if we wait to see before we experience anything, we will never see! We must trust that God will fulfill us and equip us for whatever He calls us to do.
Loose My Baggage, Please!
Annagail Lynes
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:13
Most people have baggage. I have baggage. You have baggage. And in every relationship we enter, just like at the airport, we must check in our baggage.
In Philippians 3:13, Paul writes "forgetting those things which are behind." I know, in my life, this is one of the most difficult Scriptures to put into action.
Although I am a new creation in Christ, a child of Almighty God, in right standing with Him because of the blood Jesus shed on the cross, there are still people from my past who like to remind me of who I used to be. I am sure you have encountered these type of people. The ones who enjoy reminding you of every bad thing you have ever done in your life.
Even Jesus had to deal with this problem. He and His disciples went into His own country. He went into the synagogue and taught the people. Instead of listening to the message and applying it to their lives, they whispered to each other "Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?" As a result, he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Holding onto the past keeps us from breaking through to the plan God has for our lives. Instead of listening to the naysayers in our lives, the people who satan is using to accuse us, we need to renew our minds to what God says about us. We must ask God to help us to forget the past and to move onto the future. We cant do it alone. We need the help of the Holy Spirit. We need God to do through us what we cannot do through ourselves.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. My family and I are doing fine.
I heard this excellent story by Lindsey Roberts, Oral Robert`s daughter-in-law. She said that her husband came home one day and told her that he was going to quit asking God to bless his plans, but he was going to start asking God what His plan was because God`s plans are all ready blessed. Sounds so simple, but how many times do you and I make decisions and don`t ask God was His plan is in the situation? I know, I do a lot. That`s my advice. Ask God what His plans are for your future.
Enjoy this issue and forward to anyone you know who would like it.

Return And Submit
Minister Rick Holiday
The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, "Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?" "I'm running away from my mistress Sarai," she answered. Then the angel of the LORD told her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her." Genesis 16:7-9 (NKJ)
Hagar leaves because she feels she has no other choice. Things have become unbearable. I'm sure Hagar felt she was worthless. Maybe she regretted ever getting involved in this whole relationship. Maybe she secretly hoped that Abraham would run after her. What we do know is that the Angel of the Lord comes to this broken and wounded woman.
Others might have been content to "write Hagar off." When she is gone others don't have to face the consequences. But God does not write her off. And here's something else: He doesn't write you off either. All of us have all made foolish choices. We all carry scars as a consequence of times when we deserted the path of God. But He still sees us. He still loves us. He still reaches out to us.
The Angel of the Lord gives Hagar simple counsel: Return and Submit! God tells Hagar to face the difficult situation and to trust Him. When we have run away from something, we never want to go back to it. But if you have made a wrong turn in the direction of your life, as we often do, the only thing to do is return to the point where you went wrong and start over. Anything else only takes you farther and farther away. I wonder . . . are you running from something today? For God has not written you off!
Find Rest!
Alexis Varghese
There comes a time when we all need a break. There comes a time when we all think that it is about time to give up and there is no hope left. Well, this weeks devotion will help people that have this same problem. Psalm 62:5 says, Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
This verse is not a verse where you have to think about it between the lines. The main idea is right in the verse. Things dont always go our way and we get annoyed or frustrated, but we can find comfort from God and hope comes from him. There comes a situation when a person is going through something, that they have been battling for a very long time, and they end up loosing hope. If you give God all your problems, you will always find hope. It may not be the same hope that you had from the start, but it is the hope that will give you the strength to fight your battles.
To over come something, a person needs hope. It doesnt need to be a lot of hope, but it can be a mustard seed of hope. For us to find hope and rest, we will always find it from God.
It's Your Responsibility!
Annagail Lynes
"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (Ephesians 6:13).
The Amplified Version of this scripture says, "having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].
We hear people say "Im waiting on God." A lot of times we are waiting on God to do what we are supposed to do for ourselves. We use the scripture in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." We believe that we can cast our cares and just wait on God.
The truth is that we must cast our cares but not our responsibility. We are praying for more hours on our job, but we cant stop working hard and going the extra mile in the hours that we do have. We are praying for a better car, but we cant stop doing maintaince on the one we have. We are praying for a mate, but we cant sit in the dark in our bathrobe and expect God to bring the mate to our door.
I am not telling you not to wait on God, but waiting on God isnt a passive thing. We have to exercise our faith in the meantime. How is our faith released? Through your mouth. Take your Bible, find the Scriptures that answer your needs and speak those Scriptures out your mouth every time you receive a chance. Speak the Word over your circumstances, and watch them change.
You have a responsibility to do all you know to do in a situation before standing. You need to be exercising your faith, staying in the Word and asking God to help you while casting your cares. Cast your cares and take responsibility.

Hi All!
I hope you all are well. My family and I are doing fine.
God is being good to me, even when I can't see Him moving. Isn't that the way it is with us all? In the tough times, we don't see Him moving, and we can get frustrated and upset. But when we seeing Him in our lives, we couldn't be happier. To prevent this yo-yo, up and down Christianity, we need to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. We need to praise God every day for the things that we are grateful for--large and small. You'll be amazed at how quickly things will change in your life when you develop an attitude of gratitude.
Enjoy this issue and forward to anyone you know who would like it.

Confident Christianity
Minister Rick Holiday
17. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.19. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
1 John 3:17-19 (kj)
One of the underlying themes of 1 John is how to have a Confident Christianity. John wants us to be confident in our relationship with God and in our walk with Him. John calls his readers little children and beloved. Far from calling their salvation into question, he affirms it. We'll always have God's acceptance because we're His child. He has promised to never cast you out, leave you, or forsake you. These are promises based upon relationship, not behavior.
John gives an illustration in verses 17-18. He decribes it as seeing another Christian in need and we say to him "I love you, brother," but you do nothing to help him. When the Word of God declares that we should love and encourage one another, you nod your head and say amen. But you never visit those who are sick. You never invite a new family into your home. You love in word and in tongue, but not in deed and in truth.
Think about those words, in truth. When we love in word only, our witness rings hollow. It lacks authenticity. But when we love in word and in deed, we know that we are "of" the truth. We know that the truth is being applied to our lives. We know it's being lived out in our daily experience. That knowledge allows us to assure our hearts before God. We need to be careful that we do not become a people that are all talk, but no substance. It's easy to become a Christian who has all the right convictions, but lacks real compassion and involvement. (amen)

"It's not my child," my dad told my mother when she found out she was pregnant with me. He added, "You must have slept with someone else."
Although my dad provided for me financially, he always seemed emotionally distant from me, almost as if he were holding back a part of himself because he truly believed I was not his child.
From that day until now, anytime I feel that I might be rejected, I hold myself back. When a letter comes in the mail that might contain a rejection letter, it drudged up all those feelings for me of being not good enough. If only I had been good enough, my dad would have loved me. If I had only been a more talented writer, I wouldn't have been rejected.
All of us have issues like this. For you, feeling abandoned may send you into a panic. You may have a fit whenever you feel insecure.
Over the years, I have learned to function with my rejection and inadequacy issues as I am sure you have. God doesn't want us to just function. Instead He instructs us in Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
What does He mean by guard our hearts? Let's look to verses 20-21 of this same chapter.
"
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart."
To guard our hearts, we must pay attention to what goes in our eyes, ears and out our mouth.
If we watch violence and sex on television and movies, if we listen to music with violent lyrics, we will become more violent in our actions and speech. We will start to blur the line between right and wrong. We might say to ourselves, "What is wrong with having sex with my girlfriend" or "What is wrong with trying a little marijuana?"
What we watch, read and hear will take root in our hearts. Once it takes root, it will manifest in your actions, your speech and in the way you treat people. Even your health will be affected because Proverbs 4:22 says, "For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."
But what if you already have issues such as abandonment, rejection or inadequecy that have taken root in your heart? How do you uproot them?
We should override our emotions with the Word of God. Our feelings and emotions are subjective. The Bible is the truth. Our circumstances around us, such as sickness, poverty, etc, may be fact, but the Bible is the truth.
Romans 12:2 tells us to "be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
How do we do that?
In the areas you know you have trouble in, such as abandonment, study, quote and meditate every Scripture you can find on the subject. For instance, in Hebrews 13:6, God promises "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
In addition to the Scriptures in your area of trouble, study Scriptures on who you are in Christ. This will help you to see yourself as God sees you.
To meditate on the Scriptures you found, mentally image yourself in the Scripture. See God helping you in every situation. Then rely on Him when you get into trouble.
The next time you are abandoned, you will still feel the same feelings. That probably will never change. However, you can override that emotion with the truth--the Word of God.
The more you study and meditate on the Scriptures you have found, the more you will develop an image inside of who God says you are and what He has promised you. Then you will be equipped to hit your feelings of abandonment, inadequencies or rejection with the Word.
Dont let your emotions rule you. Show them that there is a new sheriff in town--you!

How are you all doing? Good, I hope. I am doing well.
In my spirit, I hear the phrases such as "A New Day Arising" and "It's Time!" It's time to come to full alert in our walk with God. In this last day, it is going to take the sold-out Christians to reach the world for Christ, to bring hope to the dying and hurting.
The question is are you sold-out for Christ? Or are there things and people you put ahead of Him? Each of us needs to re-evaluate our lives and priorities, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to see what areas we still need to turn over to God.
Enjoy this issue of Christian Connection Ezine. I would be grateful if you would forward it to anyone else that you think might enjoy reading it.

Jesus Looks For Fruit by Minister Rick Holiday
No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. [John 15:4,5]
It is pretty simple, don't you think. By ourselves (apart from Him) we can do NOTHING. Jesus us tells us that we cannot do anything without Him. However, we are also taught that we can do "incredible things" in Christ. In Luke 1:37 says "For with God nothing shall be impossible." The person who is drawing life from the Savior has God's Spirit living and moving within Him . . . .the future is an endless possibility for the child of God.
When God is moving through us we can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and see the most hopeless situation turned around. But these things happen not because of our techniques, but because of His life working through us! So, the first thing to keep in mind is this: if you want to make a difference in the world . . . a real difference ... you must let Christ build His life into you.
Who do you consider to be successful? Who do you look up to? They might be people who have amassed a fortune and made an impact (like Bill Gates). It may be someone (for Christians) who has a big church, is seen on television, writes a lot of books. Do you see that all these things are surface issues? Jesus calls us to something deeper. He calls us to hunger for a godly character. Jesus says God is not looking for press clippings, attendance figures, bank accounts, He is looking for "fruit." Amen!

Exodus 14:14 by Alexis Varghese
Many times, a person is caught in a problem. It sometimes would be against another person and sometimes against themselves. Exodus 14:14, really helps with this problem. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.
This verse is a sentence, but it is so meaningful. As a Christian, we are always in a constant battle with the devil. The devil is upset that he lost a soul, so he does everything to bring back a soul. But, as a Christian, we have somebody that the devil doesnt have and that person is God. God will not help you with your battles, but he will fight the battles for you, you just have to ask him. No battle is too big for God and he is victorious in every battle. Because God is fighting our battles, we can hold our peace. We dont have to be afraid, or scared, because God is always here for us.
I know that in my life, I have been in a lot of battles. Sometimes, I get so tired, that Im ready to give up, but god wont let me. He keeps on telling me that, to hold on, because I will win my battles. I just had to give him all my problems. Once I did that, I had a lot of peace in my heart and my problems were solved.
So, when you are in a really tough situation, remember that God will fight for you and you will have peace in your heart, but you just have to
Dream Big by Annagail Lynes
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12 ).
God has called me to bring hope. Everyone needs a little hope now and again. In fact, without hope, we give up on our dreams, and our lives become mechanical. Get up, go to work, eat, sleep.
Have you ever wondered if that is all there is to life? I know, I have.
But just like Joseph, I have always been a dreamer. People whisper to each other, "Oh he's a dreamer" like it is a bad thing, but the truth is where would we be if people hadn't been dreamers? We would be sitting in the dark because Thomas Edison wouldn't have invented the light bulb. You wouldn't be reading this because no one would have thought to invent the computer. There would be no Kentucky Fried Chicken, no Ebony magazine and no Wal-Mart. Martin Luther King wouldn't have been killed for the sake of his dream.
Everyone has dreams deep within them. Some of us are more in touch with them than others, but you will never be happy unless you are fulfilling the dream that God has deposited on the inside of you.
If you are breathing, God has called you to a specific purpose. Imagine this: He chose you for this purpose out of every person who has ever lived, is living and will live. And you are perfect for the job. You have the right qualifications. In fact, you are the only one qualified. You have the right talents, abilities, character traits and personality. Just the right combination to make your mission a success. Ask God to show you His dream for your life today!

I hope your holidays were happy. A new year is a new beginning. A time to make changes in our lives. Do you keep the resolutions you make at the beginning of each year? Have you asked God to bless those goals and resolutions?
We like to make resolutions, but when we try to do those resolutions without God's help, we will struggle. Once we start to struggle, we give up.
This year do what Proverbs 3:6 (Today's English Version) says "Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way."
Your Sister In Christ,

It's Already There by Minister Holiday
17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18.And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:17-18
This verse is addressed to "ye" (verse 17). So this command must apply to all Christians, not just the super-achievers. It is every Christians responsibility to be filled. We do not fill ourselves with the Spirit, but are to allow the Spirit to fill us. Unfortunately, many Christians are confused about what makes a life spiritual. Some think that a spiritual life is reserved only for super Christians like pastors and missionaries.
Paul said, "Be filled," not "Fill yourselves." It is not something you can DO; it is some you must allow to be done to you. The Holy Spirit will do the filling when we meet the conditions set forth in Scripture. Filling is a continuous need. Just because I am filled today does not mean that I will be filled tomorrow. Filling is not automatic. It happens when I deliberately and consciously obey the command to be filled.
So what is the distinction between spirituality and maturity. Spirituality is the result of a choice. Maturity is the result of time. Whether you were aware of it or not, the Holy Spirit came to live within you the moment you believed the gospel and trusted Christ as your Savior. You dont need to ask for Him. You dont need to wait for Him. Hes already there. Romans 8:9. If you are a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit. A Christian can begin to live a spiritual life immediately. Growth and maturity take time.
You Look Beautiful by Annagail Lynes
"...not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." -- (Philippians 3:9)
You look beautiful today, just as you do every day in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
When we come before the throne of God, immediately our enemy (and we do have an enemy) comes to accuse us, to list every sin we've ever committed. We feel condemned, ashamed and above all, unworthy.
Do you know what God sees? He sees what His Son did for us. He sees the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. Why? Because it is not what we say or do that puts us in right standing with God. It is what Jesus did that puts us there.
Now that we have established that you are righteous, in right standing with God, let's see what the Word has to say about the righteous.
"The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree" (Ps. 92:12).
"For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers" (1 Pet. 3:12).
"For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield" (Ps. 5:12).
"The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles" (Ps. 34:17). "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread" (Ps. 37:25).
I encourage you today to take your place in God. Don't let the devil talk you out of what belongs to you. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and don't let him forget it.

Welcome to another exciting issue of Christian Connection Ezine!
Another year is closely approaching us. What are you going to do differently this year? I heard someone once say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. What are you going to do to make your life better? To make your relationship with God better? Take a risk in 2002 and do something different. Something that requires stepping out of your comfort zone.
On the Do The Right Thing broadcast, I will be stepping out of my comfort zone by doing a many week series on "Becoming A Person Of God." It will start on Saturday, January 6. Yesterday's broadcast can be hear at http://dotherightthing.bravepages.com.
Your Sister In Christ,

Heavenly Vision
Minister Rick Holiday
"I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision" (Acts 26:19)
I was thinking about God's Vision. I ask myself the question. Have the church lost God's Vision? If we lose "the heavenly vision" God has given us, we alone are responsible -- not God. We lose the vision because of our own lack of spiritual growth. If we do not apply our beliefs about God to the issues of everyday life, the vision God has given us will never be fulfilled. The only way to be obedient to "the heavenly vision" is to give our utmost for His highest -- our best for His glory. This can be accomplished only when we make a determination to continually remember God's vision. But the acid test is obedience to the vision in the details of our everyday life -- sixty seconds out of every minute, and sixty minutes out of every hour, not just during times of personal prayer or public meetings.
"Though it tarries, wait for it . . ." (Habakkuk 2:3.) We cannot bring the vision to fulfillment through our own efforts, but must live under its inspiration until it fulfills itself. We try to be so practical that we forget the vision. At the very beginning we saw the vision but did not wait for it. We rushed off to do our practical work, and once the vision was fulfilled we could no longer even see it. Waiting for a vision that "tarries" is the true test of our faithfulness to God. It is at the risk of our own soul's welfare that we get caught up in practical busy-work, only to miss the fulfillment of the vision.
Watch for the storms of God. The only way God plants His saints is through the whirlwind of His storms. Will you be proven to be an empty pod with no seed inside? That will depend on whether or not you are actually living in the light of the vision you have seen. Let God send you out through His storm, and don't go until He does. If you select your own spot to be planted, you will prove yourself to be an unproductive, empty pod. However, if you allow God to plant you, you will "bear much fruit" (John 15:8).
It is essential that we live and "walk in the light" of God's vision for us (1 John 1:7).
Isaiah 40: 31
Alexis Varghese
I have to say that one of my favorite verse, since I became a Christian, is Isaiah 40:31. It says, But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Not only is this verse uplifting, but it fits perfectly in your daily life.
The verse says that if you believe and trust in the lord, you will never fall down. Yes, you will get hurt from the evils of this world, but youll never fall down. When you are going through something tough, you will not stumble, or grow weak, but you will become strong and stronger than before. God wont give a person something he or she cant handle, but he will give you something, to make the person stronger. Whenever I am going through something really bad, I read this verse and get back on my feet. This verse is kind of like gods promise to his children. No matter what happens to us, he will always be there to lean onto and he will never forsake his children.
So, as you are reading this devotion, remember gods promise to his children. Remember that no matter what happens, you will never fall, but you will be stronger than before. You also have a father in heaven who cares a lot for you.
Are You Willing To Pay The Price?
Annagail Lynes
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you
(Matthew 5:11-12 NIV).
A week or so ago, I was in a local fast food restaurant, having a meal with my mother. I went up to the condiment area to get something when a group of men started making nasty comments about me. They were pointing and staring.
Instead of saying anything to them, I held my head up and went about my business, pretending I didn't hear them, but I did. I did hear their comments. I did see them point and stare.
Jesus heard the people talking about him. He saw them pointing and whispering, but He told us to consider ourselves blessed when people insult us, persecute us and falsely say all kinds of evil against us because of Him.
Why should we consider ourselves blessed? I used to think that if people were teasing me, if people didn't like me it was because I wasn't good enough. I thought that I must not be pretty enough, talented enough or special enough. However, people insulted, lied against and didn't like Jesus, and He was perfect, which blew my theory to pieces.
From this we gather that we can do everything right and still have people hate us and falsely accuse us of things we haven't done. They don't understand the light in our lives, just as they didn't understand the light in Jesus' life. They don't understand the call of God on our livings. And people mock and come against what they don't understand.
Verse 12 tells us that we are in great company because the prophets before us, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Elijah, were persecuted too. It is the price we pay for being Christians, for following God's plan for our lives.
Many are not willing to pay such a steep price to serve God. They want everyone to like them. But it is those who are willing to risk being talk against, lied about and persecuted that will move up higher in God. It is those people who God will reward. Are you willing to pay the price?
Hi Everyone! Merry Christmas Eve to all of you. I hope you are having a nice day, getting reacquainted with old friends and putting family grudges behind you. Christmas is a time to remember Jesus--how God sent His only begotten son to earth on a mission to die for our sins at the cross. Remember how much Jesus has done for you, and make a New Year's resolution to take Him every day for His goodness.
Last week, it was brought to my attention that the copy of the Do The Right Thing broadcast I sent out didn't work. I now am archiving the broadcasts at http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/buswriting/broadcast.html . Last week's and the week before's are already there. Enjoy!

God's Treasured Word
Minister Rick Holiday
72) The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. (92-93) If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. (97-98) Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me (Psalm 119:72,92,93,97,98)
The longest chapter in the entire Bible is Psalm 119. The whole Psalm is like this! David says He loves God law (remember he only had a small portion of the Bible). Can you imagine how excited David would been if he had had the New Testament?? The Bible is a treasure because it is "God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work," [2 Timothy 3:16, 17] Do you get that?
When was the last time you picked up your Bible and viewed is as a treasured possession? Wait! I don't mean that it is treasured because it is leather or was expensive or given to you by someone who loves you . . . I mean, when was the last time you saw your Bible as a treasure because it gave you the Words of God? Here's the baffling question? Since the Bible is so magnificent, why are our Bibles dusty?
We don't have to "figure things out" on our own saints. God has given us written instructions. He has given us promises to depend on. He has given us a glimpse of the future that we can focus on. He's given us models to learn from. In the trials of life we are not left without guidance. We just need to read the directions of the bible and do what it says! You will truly treasure God's word. Be bless, be a blessing, and always keep the faith!
Choice Versus Feelings
Annagail Lynes
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).
Your feelings aren't an accurate judge on what is going on in your life.
Why is that so? When you asked Jesus to come into your heart, your spirit became saved, but your soul--your mind, will and emotions--did not. The salvation of your soul is what I believe Paul is referring to when he wrote "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."
As a free-lance writer, I received a lot of rejection letters--we ran something similar last month, it's not what we are looking for right now, etc. Every time I received a letter from publication that I submitted to, I felt that it was a rejection letter. One day, one of those letters arrived, and I felt sure it was yet another rejection. When I opened it, though, I pulled out a contract that stated when the piece would be published and how much money I would be receiving. That day, my feelings weren't telling me the truth about the situation.
Did you know that happiness, forgiveness and even love are choices we make and not feelings? If you are mad at your sister, brother or mother, you can choose to be bitter toward them or you can choose to forgive. Once you make that decision, however, you may still feel anger toward them. That's because your feelings haven't caught up with your decision.
The Bible says that we are not to allow anything to put us into bondage
We are to control our feelings, not our feelings control us. To control our feelings, we must make up our mind to forgive others, to love them and to be happy. Your feelings will eventually catch up with your decision. Decide today whether you want to lead your feelings or follow them.
As most of you know, I host an Internet radio program. Attached is a copy of the most recent "Do The Right Thing"
broadcast I hosted. You will need a Real Media Player. You will have to wait approximately eleven seconds before it begins as this is my first attempt at recording it.

Casting Your Cares
Annagail Lynes
Casting all your care upon him;
for he careth for you.
1 Peter 5:7
One morning God woke up my pastor with a message for me: "Cast your cares upon me." That was almost five years ago. Do you think that I applied that message to my life? No. I was a born worrier and couldn't see myself as anything but a worrier.
Last year, while waiting in the doctor's office, God told me that I was operating in disobedience.
"Disobedience, me? Not me. I don't disobey God," I thought to myself.
What He said next shocked me, "By not casting your cares on Me, you are being disobedient."
I felt as if I'd been slapped in the face.
From then on, it became my mission to obey God, no matter what it took. Let me tell you, it hasn't been easy.
Now instead of worrying, I purposely replace my worried thoughts with the Word of God.
For instance, my four-month-old computer, started having problems. I received an error every time I booted up. The mouse and sound wouldn't work. The visual wasn't acting right.
My first reaction was to worry, but I decided to believe God's Word that says God will perfect that which concerns me and that He will supply my needs. Every time I was tempted to worry, I quoted those two Scriptures out loud. I spoke them aloud so my ears could hear the Word. Romans 10:17 tells us "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Soon, God led me to the solution.
When we replace our negative thoughts with God's Word, we are allowing God to work in our situations.
Our daily prayer, when things go wrong, should be "Lord, I leave this in your hands. I don't what you are doing, but I trust you any way."
Highly Favored
Minister Rick Holiday
(28) And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. (29) And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
Luke 1:28,29
When the angel came to Mary and said "your highly favored of the Lord." Mary reaction is one of shock. The bible said she became troubled. She had a good reason to be troubled. Because Mary knew that with this new level of favor and blessings came responsibility. God didn't choose Mary just because of her virginity. We can find women of any age category that is still a yet a virgin.
But God choose Mary because he could trust with being pregnant with the son of God. Without her becoming arrogant, beside herself or that she wouldn't act high-mighty toward other people. God had not bless her, so she could be up and others would be down. But that she would give birth to the promise that would raise everyone else to the same level of favor.
My point is this. Saints do you know what your carrying around in your bosom. Your pregnant with favor. God haven't given you all that favor to die with it. That God is preparing you. God didn't bless you so you can think your better. But you can use the favor to help someone who is without. Realize this day that within out your own spirit you have the favor of God. Key is that you don't let success change you. Mary is the best example of that very fact. Tell someone today that your "highly favored of the Lord." AMEN!
Dearest in Him,
My name is Josephat Kirutu and I am a Tanzanian man aged 34 years old. Up to
four months ago I was married to my wife, whose name is Lucy Abima ( then
known as Lucy Josephat Kirutu). We were living in Arusha ( a town North of
Tanzania ) till we moved to Mwanza, on the shows of Lake Victoria here in
Tanzania. First about my wife, due to the hardships of life she has decided
to leave me for another man. In the time we have been here in Mwanza, we
nearly starved because this is a new town for us and I do not have any job
here nor friends. We had, back in Arusha, where I was working for a tour
company as a tour guide, been taking care of 9 children who are parentless
and homeless. I was earning about US $ 85 per month and with this money we
were able to take care of my family ( my son, my wife and myself plus meet
some of the most important needs of a widow, Juliet Laizer and her four
children ). But my heart kept crying for the many children who were living
out in no houses or anybody to care for them under all types of weather and
I kept asking God to open up ways for my family to have enough to care about
each and every child in need. Late in 1999 God clearly directed me to the
internet where I made friends and who later helped me to start a small home
for the homeless and parentless children back in Arusha that we named KAO
LA AMANI ( Which is a Swahili name meaning " Peaceful Shelter ". But as time
went by and those friends realized what was involved in taking care of the
children ( for we started with 22 of them ) one by one they discontinued
their support, untill last January when a local brother in Christ heard of
my situation and offered to give free of charge his 12 hectares of land to
us here in Mwanza. From Arusha to this place we needed up to 950 U S $ 's ,
and I prayerful wrote back to my former friends and one of them did infact
sent to us U S $ 1000 !! Which we used on the lorry that brought us to
Mwanza. It took us Three days and the was early February. But ever since we
came here, the friends in America stopped even answering my messages to
them. That is when I started writting to every e-mail address on the net and
that was when I fount your name and email address either on Christian Pen
Pals or Cpals. And you , I , said you were not in a position to help, I
think because you were old or something, but when I started receiving your
e-mails from yahoo clubs- Adam's Missions Hangout of which I am a member
after one of the friends that abandoned us encouraged me to join ( I won't
mention her name ), I after alot of courage, decided to write you and let
you know our situation. To me , nobody is too old to do good , what we all
need is to open up our hearts for God to use us to reach out to those who
are in need on behalf of HIM. Having said that , we came here with all the
nine(9)children and , off-course we have free land, free house( though too
small) but we had no money or food. Soon the small church that was helping
us here could not meet our food needs and it was not planting season here
then. We were always going hungry and the neighbours reported our situation
to the local government and the children's welfare board. Three months ago
the came and took the children to a muslim organization, but we can re-claim
them when we meet the conditions they set out for us. ( which are we must
have a small money generating project and have atlest enough food to last
six months). It is now planting time, and I can only do what I can on the
piece of land that we have. If I have to re-claim the children I need some
money to hire a tractor , to buy the seeds I need, and some money also to
pay for the helping hands that I will also need. In total I need U S $ 350
for the planting business. If you can help please do so.
God bless you,
Josephat Kirutu

Be Yourself Annagail Lynes
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
All we ever have to be is what God made us to be.
In junior and senior high school, I was a chameleon. A chameleon is an animal that changes color to blend in with his surroundings. I would do anything to fit in. One time in junior high, I had just transferred to a new school and ate several agonizing lunches alone, watching the other kids laughing with their friends. I was determined to make friends too.
I saw a girl crying across the playground. I went over to her and sat on the sidewalk next to her. I didn't say a word, afraid that she might yell at me or that I might say the wrong thing. When she noticed me, she started talking non-stop. Do you like Duran Duran, she asked me, cocking her head to the side. Finally stopping to let me answer.
Not missing a beat, I replied, Yes, of course, I do. I didn't know who Duran Duran was any more than I knew the cure for cancer. Eva and I became instant friends. Later, though, when she found out the truth, I became her enemy.
God never called us to be anyone other than ourselves. In fact, I think that it grieves Him when we try to be someone we arent, when we wish we could sing like Charlotte Church or preach like Billy Graham.
He designed us to have the exact personality traits, the exact talents and abilities necessary to fulfill the plan He has for our lives. By saying comparing ourselves to someone else and longing for what God gave them, we are really saying, God, I know better than you.
Do we know better than God? I know, I dont.
God expects me to be the best me I can be. And He expects you to be the best you that you can be. Anything less would be a step out of His will.
Faith Minister Rick Holiday
16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring-not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. 17 As it is written: ''I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed-the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
(Romans 4:16-17)
If you take the time to study what the Bible says about faith, you will come to the inescapable conclusion that faith must have a solid foundation. It must be grounded in that foundation. Faith must have an object, a basis. We are not called to have faith in faith itself. But faith is not convincing ourselves of something that is not true, it is believing in something that is true. Faith is not faith in faith. The only true basis for faith is God.
When Abraham believed, he did not simply believe in the promise that God had given to him. Abraham's basis for faith was God, in whom he believed. Abraham believed in God Himself. God must be the clear object of our faith. He is the foundation for faith. He is the basis for faith. Our faith rests upon the reliability of God, not upon the changing feelings of the human heart.
We only put our faith in God's Word because of God. Faith in God's Word is faith in God, who stands behind His Word. Human words are unreliable. This is because humans are unreliable. God's Word, on the other hand, is reliable because God stands behind it. It is His Word. Therefore, when we choose to believe God's Word, we are choosing to believe in the God who stands behind His Word. This is what Abraham did. Lets do that also everyday Saints!
