FRANKLIN GRAHAM: 'OUR CHURCHES ARE DEAD'

By Paul Proctor
December 16, 2009
NewsWithViews.com

I read an interesting article/interview with Franklin Graham, son of famed
evangelist, Billy Graham, in a publication called The Gathering where he not
only expressed the importance of sharing the gospel, but also some less than
flattering comments about today's churches and pastors "going directions Jesus
never told us to go into," referencing the new "liberal" evangelical emphasis on
"social justice" and "Christianizing" the culture.

Of course, I can't speak for Franklin Graham, but it sure sounded like a slap in
the face of Rick Warren with his Global Peace Plan. Certainly, there are many
who have made the social gospel job one, but none more notable than the Purpose
Driven pastor from Saddleback Church.

Unfortunately, Graham didn't name names, an all too common practice among clergy
today, which leaves many vulnerable to "Christian" celebrities who put
people-pleasing programs and global agendas over and above the Word of God and
the call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. If Mr. Graham believes certain
pastors are out there leading others astray with a false gospel, he has a duty
to warn them, not just make vague references that will go in one ear and out the
other as if who's doing it doesn't really matter. Souls are at stake here.

But, in spite of this, he made some important points in the Q&A session that
need to be mentioned:

TG: The next generation of believers seems to be making social justice
issues such as poverty, disease, orphans, clean water, etc. a real priority.
What do you think about that?

Graham: None of that is our mandate. Jesus never said, "I want you to go out
and alleviate the poor in the world." ...So many churches and so many pastors
today are going directions Jesus never told us to go into. He said, "you'll
always have the poor with you."

TG: Do you see those works as a door to sharing the gospel and making
disciples?

Graham: That's the if. If they do it, sure. My grandparents were
missionaries to China. They took modern medicine to China. Why? Because the
Chinese people had no medicine. My grandfather, a surgeon, saved people's lives
so that he could preach the gospel. If the social program comes first and then
if you can, you try to work the gospel wedge into it, that won't work. It has to
be the gospel first. You go, why? Because Christ died on the cross. He shed His
blood on the cross, and that's why I'm going. And by the way, if I see somebody
hungry, I'm going to try to feed them. If I see somebody that needs some
medicine, I'm going to give them that. If I meet somebody who just needs an arm
around them, I'll hug them and tell them God loves them. But I'm going because
Christ told me to go into the world and make disciples. He never told me to go
feed people. He never told me to go try to make people feel better. He told me
to preach the gospel.

TG: To what extent do you think Christians should be involved in helping to
usher in the kingdom of Heaven now, on Earth? Should we be trying to redeem our
culture?

Graham: First of all, the Bible didn't tell me to do that. I can't
Christianize this culture. The god of this world is Satan - this is his culture.
He is the god of this age. I'm to preach the gospel. .... God is calling a
people for Himself. I don't know whom He's calling, I just have to be faithful
and preach.

Later in the article, Graham stated, point blank: "We need revival. Our churches
are dead." I think most Christians who regularly read this column already know
that, but it was important to hear him say it.

After having visited many such churches in and around the very home of the
Southern Baptist Convention here in Nashville, Tennessee over the last ten
years, I couldn't agree more. And, I don't say that with any presumed piety,
personal innocence or lofty, Mr. Know-it-all kind of attitude. I say it with a
deep sadness, frustration and desire to wake up sleepy, jaded and distracted
Christians and their pastors who apparently don't recognize the seriousness of
the situation or the urgency of the hour.

One evangelical tactic addressed in the article that I vigorously disagree with
concerning both the Billy Graham Association and Franklin Graham, is the blatant
use of popular music styles (and celebrities, I might add) in their crusades to
help draw crowds. Samaritan's Purse also hands out church-donated toys at
Christmas to appeal to children and their parents on the mission field as a way
to gain their favor and make them more receptive to the gospel.

Jesus never did either of these things and neither should we. Although He fed
the masses on more than one occasion to demonstrate God's love and power,
there's no biblical record of the Lord using food or anything else of a carnal
nature to lure people in to hear Him preach. In my view, these pragmatic and
people-pleasing practices are just another form of religious bribery that has
now become the modus operandi of most churches today, which I believe, in no
small part, set the stage for the whole seeker-sensitive church growth movement
that has successfully undermined the gospel and steered the Church at large
toward evangetainment as its thrust instead of God's Word and, in the process,
shipwrecked the fragile, unfed and undisciplined faith of many by teaching them
to do the same.

My wife and I visited a typical SBC church not long ago where the orchestra
kicked off the Sunday morning service with something that sounded more like a
television talk show theme than a call to worship. I'm sorry – I don't care what
your tastes in music are – that can't be justified. Whether Christians realize
it or not, synthesizing the sacred with the secular promotes confusion and a
compromised worship atmosphere.

In all fairness though, the music minister is a very nice young man with a
wonderful voice who usually leads a blended mix of traditional and contemporary
selections in an attempt to offer a little something for everyone in attendance
– a common practice among Southern Baptists and others which, in my view, only
leaves the congregation divided, with everyone impatiently waiting for their
music to be played so they can get in their three minutes of worship and praise
before the next genre is covered that appeals to someone else's palate and turns
our stomach.

How anyone stays focused on God and His Word jumping from traditional hymns to
funky blues tunes to rock guitar solos to jazzy Jesus numbers is beyond me. But,
this is the kind of conflict being created by well-meaning church leaders today
acting on group consensus rather than godly conviction. If we don't do that with
our theology, why are we doing it with our music?

We then went to an adult Sunday school class where the Word of God was set aside
for the entire hour in order to fill out a lengthy church survey on personal
preferences followed by a touchy discussion on the same – this after a half-hour
or more of pre-class chitchat, pastries and coffee which concluded with an array
of suggested entertainment-oriented social activities and restaurants to meet at
for informal class get-togethers and what-evers during the week, which was
apparently difficult for many due to all of the other regularly scheduled
activities already committed to with family.

Friends, this is what the Church in America has become in the 21st century:
Christians trying to figure out where to go and what to do with themselves in
this great big amusement park we call America!

But, all of this, I sincerely believe is going to change dramatically – and very
soon. And, though there will be a lot of suffering and hardship in the coming
years, and especially in the Church, I am convinced that when people eventually
lose everything worldly and superficial that has, up to now, seemed so important
to them, the faith of some will come alive as never before while others will
continue to seek the flesh in one form or another, following whoever offers the
most gratification for the least amount of suffering and sacrifice.

If you want to properly prepare for dire days ahead, prepare for this. When
fear, violence, suffering and uncertainty become the order of the day, there may
be no better time in our nation's history to share the good news of Jesus Christ
and be the kind of witness for Him that we should have been all along.

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature." – Mark 16:15

US Cutting Gaza Lifeline

Making an American 'Impenetrable Underground Wall' the Laughing Stock of the
World—Leave It to the People of Gaza

By Ann Wright

December 10, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- No doubt at the instigation
of the Israeli government, the Obama administration has authorized the United
States Army Corps of Engineers to design a vertical underground wall under the
border between Egypt and Gaza.

In March, 2009 the United States provided the government of Egypt with $32
million in March, 2009 for electronic surveillance and other security devices to
prevent the movement of food, merchandise and weapons into Gaza. Now details are
emerging about an underground steel wall that wil be 6-7 miles long and extend
55 feet straight down into the desert sand.

The steel wall will be made of super-strength steel put together in a jigsaw
puzzle fashion. It will be bomb proof and can not be cut or melted. It will be
"impenetrable," and reportedly will take 18 months to construct.

The steel wall is intended to cut the tunnels that go between Gaza and Egypt.

The tunnels are the lifelines for Gaza since the international community agreed
to a blockade of Gaza to collectively punish the citizens of Gaza for their
having elected in Parliamentary elections in 2006 sufficient Hamas
Parliamentarians that Hamas became the government of Gaza. The United States
and other western countries have placed Hamas on the list of terrorist
organizations.

The underground steel wall is intended to strengthen international governmental
efforts to imprison and starve the people of Gaza into submission so they will
throw out the Hamas government.

Just as the steel walls of the US Army Corps of Engineers at the base of the
levees of New Orleans were unable to contain Hurricane Katrina, the US Army
Corps of Engineers' underground steel walls that will attempt to build an
underground cage of Gaza will not be able to contain the survival spirit of the
people of Gaza.

America's super technology will again be laughed at by the world, as young men
dedicated to the survival of their people, will again outwit technology by
digging deeper, and most likely penetrating the "impenetrable" in some novel,
simple, low-tech way.

I have been to Gaza 3 times this year following the 22-day Israeli military
attack on Gaza that killed 1,440, wounded 5,000, left 50,000 homeless and
destroyed much of the infrastructure of Gaza. The disproportionate use of force
and targeting of the civilian population by the Israeli military is considered
by international law and human rights experts as as violations of the Geneva
conventions.

When our governments participate in illegal actions, it is up to the citizens of
the world to take action. On December 31, 2009, 1,400 international citizens
from 42 countries will march in Gaza with 50,000 Gazans in the Gaza Freedom
March to end the siege of Gaza. They will take back to their countries the
stories of spirit and survival of the pople of Gaza and will return home
committed to force their governments to stop these inhuman actions against the
people of Gaza.

Just as American smart bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq have not conquered the
spirit of Aghans and Iraqis, America's underground walls in Gaza will never
conquer the courage of those who are fighting for the survival of their
families.

One more time, the American government and the Obama administration has been an
active participant in the continued inhumane treatment of the people of Gaza and
should be held accountable, along with Israel and Egypt for violations of human
rights of the people of Gaza.

ACLU: Obama creating `a sweeping immunity doctrine for torturers'
By Sahil Kapur
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 -- 12:42 pm

WASHINGTON -- The nation's pre-eminent civil rights organization ACLU on
Thursday slammed President Obama for shielding the Bush administration from
accountability for its "dangerous torture policy," and insisted that this "lack
of transparency" severely threatens the future of constitutional liberty in the
United States.

"The Bush administration constructed a legal framework for torture," Jameel
Jaffer, Director of ACLU's National Security Project, said in a conference call
with reporters. "Now the Obama administration is constructing a legal framework
for impunity."

While he credited Obama for having disavowed torture under his watch, Jaffer
said that "on every front, the administration is actively obstructing
accountability by shielding Bush officials from civil liability, criminal
investigation and even public scrutiny for their role in authorizing torture."

"It's the last month of 2009, and not a single torture victim has had his day in
court," said ACLU Attorney Ben Wizner. "Not a single court in a torture case has
ruled on the legality of the Bush administration's torture policies."

In response to a question from Raw Story, Jaffer said refusing to prosecute past
acts of torture sets "an extremely dangerous precedent" in the legal system.
"Torture victims can be denied their day in court solely based on assertions
made by their torturers," he said.

"We still don't have a definitive binding determination that what went on in the
last eight years was illegal," he added. "And without that kind of
determination, it will be all too easy for an unscrupulous lawyer in an
unscrupulous future administration to write another memo saying that there is no
legal prohibition against monstrous conduct."

"Torture is not an issue where there should be one person on both sides of the
table on Hardball -- torture is universally prescribed as clearly illegal."

The Obama administration has evaded transparency by "seeking to cover up details
of enhanced interrogation programs," said Alex Abdo, ACLU's attorney for torture
FOIA lawsuits, citing the president's refusal to release photos, memos and
documentation that detail instances of torture -- largely under the pre-text of
state secrets.

"The effect of the Obama administration's argument across these civil cases is
the creation of a sweeping immunity doctrine for torturers," said Abdo, citing
as one example Obama's defense of torture memo author John Yoo.

"The government can engage in torture, declare it a state secret or a matter of
national security, and by virtue of that declaration avoid any accountability
for conduct that the entire world and the United States have always recognized
as illegal in all instances," he said.

"We're frustrated by the growing gap between Obama administration's rhetoric on
accountability and the reality," Jaffer said.

"I think there is an obvious connection between what the president is saying
about the commitment we've got to human rights and the work we're doing here
inside the United States to hold people accountable for the violations of both
domestic and international law," Jaffer said, referring to Obama's acceptance of
the Nobel Prize today.

Last week, ACLU Legislative Counsel Michelle Richardson told Raw Story that
Obama's support for key Patriot Act provisions is "a major travesty."

Mother Of All Purpose-Driven Deceptions
By Berit Kjos
November 28, 2006
NewsWithViews.com

"When you write the best-selling book in the world for the last three years,
that changes your life.... Ten percent of America's churches have engaged in '40
Days of Purpose' programs, which have 'spread' to secular organizations,
including sports teams and major corporations such as Ford, Wal-Mart and
Coca-Cola, not to mention the military."[1] Rick Warren

"Dear Saddleback Family... This week I shared part of this message in New York
City where I spoke at the United Nations, and also to The Council on Foreign
Relations." Group email to Saddleback sent by "Pastor Rick [Warren]," 9-17-05.

'As a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica, I might
know as much about the Middle East as you."[2] A recent letter from Rick Warren
to Joseph Farah

"America's Pastor" Rick Warren rarely misses an opportunity to highlight the
sales of his books or the influence of his PEACE Plan. But his latest boast
reveals a depth of deception that demands both a sober response and a public
warning. And it begs answers to these puzzling questions:

     *
Why would the globalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) invite a
Christian Pastor to join its semi-secret, anti-Christian organization?
     *
How might Rick Warren benefit the elite Oxford Analytica, which works with
globalist power brokers such as J.P. Morgan, the Aspen Institute, the World
Bank]?[3]
     *
What could drive Pastor Warren to lie and deny his taped dialogue with a
Syrian Muslim leader?

First, let's review some recent events. On November 13, Rick Warren met with
Syria's Grand Mufti Sheikh Badr al-Din Hassoun in Damascus. Their dialogue was
publicized by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in an article titled, "American
Priest (Warren) Says no Peace without Syria:"

"Rick Warren on Monday said... that 80 percent of the American people rejected
what the US Administration is doing in Iraq and considered the US policy in the
Mideast as wrong.... Warren expressed admiration of Syria and the coexistence he
saw between Muslims and Christians, stressing that he will convey this image to
his church and country."[4]

On November 16, WorldNetDaily founder Joseph Farah wrote,

"Rick Warren wrote to me this morning to protest this column. He claims he
didn't say anything he was actually quoted as saying by the official press in
Syria. However, in a video... he says Syria 'does not allow extremism of any
kind.' In fact, Syria is, in many ways, the No. 1 sponsor of terrorism in the
world.... Here's what the Syrian Arab News Agency reported: '...Pastor Warren
hailed the religious coexistence, tolerance and stability that the Syrian
society is enjoying due to the wise leadership of President al-Assad....'"[5]

Despite contrary evidence, Warren proclaimed what the Syrian President al-Assad
apparently told him. But the soon-to-follow assassination of Pierre Gemayel, a
Christian anti-Syrian official in the Lebanese government -- therefore a foe to
the Syria-backed Hezbollah terrorists -- should shatter those public illusions
of tolerant coexistence.[6]

Finally, in a startling expose on November 20, Joseph Farah wrote,

"I pointed out to Warren that WND had indeed attempted to contact him about his
trip. No one from his Saddleback Church ever returned our calls the day the
story broke. 'I'm sure since you were warned in advance by the State Department
that you took the precaution of recording your own words,' I suggested in my
response. 'We look forward to seeing the transcripts.'...

"I really didn't expect to hear back from Warren – but, a few minutes later, I
did, with an absolutely stunning retort. He let me know he is a close friend of
President Bush 'and many, if not most, of the generals at the Pentagon.' He also
told me he did not tape anything while in Syria, 'because it was a courtesy
call, like I do in every country.' Warren explained that he had also counseled
with the National Security Council and the White House, as well as the State
Department, before his little courtesy call.... 'In fact, Warren added, 'as a
member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica, I might know as
much about the Middle East as you.'...

"Not one to let lies go unchallenged, I wrote back to Warren with a link to the
YouTube video: 'If you didn't tape anything, what's this?... It might be that
Rick Warren, deep in the bush of Rwanda, never received those last questions,
because he never responded – at least not in the last three days. He did,
however, within minutes make sure the YouTube video he recorded independent of
his meetings with the Syrian brown shirts was removed from the network."[2]

1. So why would the globalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) invite a
Christian Pastor to join its secretive, anti-Christian organizations?

To understand the gravity of this unlikely partnership, let's summarize the
history of the CFR. The following excerpts from our article, "Real Conspiracies
-- Past and Present," provide a glimpse of the ruling network of masterminds
behind the curtains of contemporary governments:

Few have done more to expose this global agenda than Bill Clinton's mentor,
Carroll Quigley, an influential former history professor at the Foreign Service
Schools of Georgetown University. Ponder this revelation from his 1300-page
report, Tragedy and Hope:

"There does exist, and has existed for a generation, an international Anglophile
network which operates, to some extent in the way the radical Right believes the
Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table
Groups, has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any other groups,
and frequently does so. I know of the operation of this network because I have
studied it for twenty years, and was permitted for two years, in the early
1960s, to examine its papers and secret records.... [I]n general my chief
difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown...."[7]

Quigley's next page describes the birth of The Council of Foreign Relations
(CFR). A driving force behind today's global transformation, CFR insiders have
helped steer the course of the current shift from U.S. sovereignty to a regional
union under the UN (like the European Union) with open borders between Canada,
the U.S. and Mexico. He writes,

"At the end of the war of 1914 [World War 1], it became clear that the
organization of this [secret] system had to be greatly extended.... This front
organization, called the Royal Institute of International Affairs, had as its
nucleus in each area the existing submerged Round Table Group. In New York it
was known as the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a front for J. P. Morgan
and Company.... In fact, the original plans for the Royal Institute of
International Affairs and The Council of Foreign Relations were drawn up at
Paris."[8]

Rick Warren's global PEACE Plan fits right into this rising New World Order. As
we explained in Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan and UN Goals - Part 2, this
Communitarian system is based on partnerships and networks between government
(public sector), business (private sector) and churches -- the most useful
member of civil society (social sector). But it's never a partnership of equals,
since governments wield both financial and standard-setting power. In the global
arena, it intends to use the social sector (especially the global network of
churches) to meet the needs of its promised welfare system.[9]

Rick Warren seems more than happy to be the Pied Piper that ushers churches into
the organizational web envisioned by the CFR -- the guiding political force
behind the visible global management system.[10]

2. How might Rick Warren benefit the elite Oxford Analytica?

He fits right into its agenda! Many of the same power brokers that steer the CFR
are also guiding the Oxford Analytica. Its founder, David R. Young, provides
this background information:

"...I joined the National Security Council staff as Kissinger's
Administrative Assistant in late 1969. During the next four years in the White
House - until 1973 - I observed among other things how Kissinger made ample use
of his own personal network of friends around the world.... I could not avoid a
very simple idea, namely: 'What a reservoir of talent: there must be a way of
harnessing it, and becoming a bridge for it to reach the business and government
worlds outside.' At the centre of this vision was the conviction that people in
authority - the world over - would more often than not make better decisions if
they were to regularly receive the benefit of totally dispassionate and detached
analyses on the significance and implications of world events....
"...with the help and encouragement of my old mentor at the Rockefellers, J.
Richardson Dilworth, I tried the idea on David Rockefeller, then Chairman of
Chase Manhattan Bank; Walter Wriston, then head of Citibank... Robert Engle,
then Treasurer of J.P. Morgan; and Sir Siegmund Warburg.... All of them felt the
idea was sound and worth pursuing."[11]

Most of these mighty elites have chosen to live in the shadow of the mainstream
media they control. Not so Rick Warren. Yet his global ambitions and magnetic
leadership skills would serve them well, and Warren knows it. "Billions of
people suffer each day from problems so big no government can solve them,"
Warren told the cheering crowd at Los Angeles' Angel Stadium back in 2005. "The
only thing big enough to solve the problems of spiritual emptiness, selfish
leadership, poverty, disease, and ignorance is the network of millions of
churches all around the world."[12]

3. Why would Warren lie about his taped, much publicized dialogue with Syrian
Muslim leader?

Like the CFR and the media it controls, Rick Warren has mastered the dialectic
skill of speaking out of both sides of his mouth. He knows how to cloak worldly
ambitions in words that resemble Biblical humility. He hides his emphasis on
social collectivism behind Biblical words that promise oneness in Christ. And he
promotes the Communitarian agenda while acknowledging the Kingdom of God.

But balancing such opposites leads to problems. Those who try to please
influencers in every camp are likely to prove unreliable and dishonest. And in
this case, Warren was obviously trapped by his own purpose-driven propaganda. In
Syria he spoke words that would please the Muslim, anti-American leadership. In
America, he tried to hide the facts in order to please his American fans.

Of course, positive proclamations can't cure the hatreds brewing in Syria. Now
that Gemayel's assassination has fueled that fire, the noble sentiments of
popular visionaries sound hollow indeed. As Rick Warren's "close friend"
President Bush said,

"...it exposed the 'viciousness of those who are trying to destabilize the
country' and pledged to stand with Lebanon 'in the face of attempts by Syria,
Iran and their allies within Lebanon to foment instability and violence.'''[13]

Warren's deceptions began years ago, when he first adapted his famous five
purposes to a postmodern culture. The outline below shows his Biblical titles
(click on the live links to see the Scriptures). But the practical expressions
of those Biblical terms have been twisted to accommodate the human preferences
indicated by surveys and marketing schemes.

1. Worship: Postmodern worship is designed to stir good feelings and collective
zeal. It may echo Biblical words, but points to a positive and permissive God
who will cheer our self-centered nature and excuse our unholy ways. It clashes
with genuine expressions of Spirit-filled hearts that freely praise God without
emotion-raising stimuli. (See Spirit-Led or Purpose-Driven)

2. Fellowship: Organized purpose-driven "fellowship" follows dialectical
guidelines. Small group members are trained in unbiblical tolerance,
feeling-based (not fact-based) "sharing," and hostility toward "offensive"
Biblical absolutes. In contrast, Biblical fellowship implies a gathering of
genuine believers with a common delight in His Word, His will, and His holy
ways.

"We're all in this together," said Rick Warren at the liberal Baptist World
Alliance's 2005 Congress. Baptists can "celebrate our diversity and celebrate
our unity," he continued. "I see absolutely zero reason in separating my
fellowship from anybody.[14]

3. Discipleship: Today's purpose-driven leadership calls for submission and
loyalty to "the group" and its postmodern social ethics -- not to God and His
Word. It demands collective thinking and "service learning."

4. Ministry: The shape and structure of purpose-driven ministries are
increasingly defined by new management gurus, personality assessments, community
surveys, and group appeal, not by Biblical teaching nor God's actual purposes.

5. Evangelism: Today's soft, non-offensive gospel focuses on God's supposed
"passionate love" for people who are naturally lovable, not on His loving mercy
for sinners. (See Ephesians 2:1-4) When "Christian" change agents train the
masses to "think outside the box" of God's unchanging Word, they blind people to
the only truth that can set us free.

"...if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let
him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men?
For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ." Galatians
1:9-10

LIFE GROUPS DECEPTION DECEIVES EVEN THE SHEPHERDS
Life Groups incorporate believers and non-believers into an equal, (church, two
or more together) fellowship before God without requiring Salvation of the
non-believer. It is fellowship without pagans even having the knowledge of
Jesus Christ as the required atoning sacrifice for their Sin. Life Groups
concept is based on Rick Warren's teaching, not the Bible's.

Barack Obama `to announce 30,000 Afghan troop increase next week'
President Barack Obama has convened his "war council" for the ninth and possibly
final time before his expected announcement next week to send more than 30,000
troops to Afghanistan after more than 80 days of deliberations.
White House sources indicated that Mr Obama is preparing to address Americans in
a live prime-time broadcast next Monday followed by testimony before Congress by
senior figures such as his Pentagon chief Bob Gates.

House Democrats Eye War Tax
'Share the Sacrifice Act of 2010' Would Tax Americans to Pay for Afghan War
by Jason Ditz, November 24, 2009

Citing increasing concerns about the rising cost of the Afghan War, a group of
House Democrats led by Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-WI) have
proposed a new tax on personal income.
Rep. Obey (D-WI)

The tax is being pressed forward as part of the "Share the Sacrifice Act of
2010," which Rep. Obey and others say will ensure that all Americans share the
onerous burden of continuing the seemingly endless conflict in Afghanistan.

The tax would be graduated into three stages, one level for those earning less
than $150,000 a year, another for those earning $150,000-$250,000, and then one
for $250,000+ earners. The goal is to increase taxes on the first group by 1%
and increase each of the other two to whatever level the President decides will
be needed for the war in any given year. Members of the US military would be
exempt from the tax hike.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was among the high profile co-signers of the bill,
and said there was serious concern in the Democratic Caucus about how to afford
the war, which Rep. Obey estimates could cost another $1 trillion over the next
ten years.

Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) has proposed a similar idea, and momentum for the plan
seems to be growing with President Obama's upcoming escalation announcement next
week.

While the Afghan War is shaping up to rival Vietnam for the longest war in
American history, most war-based tax hikes endure long after the conflict has
died down. An 1898 tax on telephone service pushed forward to pay for the
Spanish American War stayed on the books until late 2006, over a century after
the war ended.

Military Doublespeak
by Laurence M. Vance

In George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, the government had three slogans
emblazoned on The Ministry of Truth building: war is peace, freedom is slavery,
ignorance is strength. True, the dystopian society depicted by Orwell existed
only in his mind. Yet, the doublespeak that existed in that made-up society has
increasingly been adopted by governments – our government.

It is a tragic thing that the U.S. government employs doublespeak to deceive the
American people; it is even more tragic that most Americans accept government
doublespeak as the gospel truth.

There is no greater instance of government doublespeak than when it comes to the
military. Here are some examples:

     * Serving in the military: getting money for college from the taxpayers.
     * Deploying to Iraq or Afghanistan: occupying a sovereign country.
     * The global war on terrorism: a cash machine for privileged government
contractors.
     * Conscription: slavery.
     * Stop-loss policy: backdoor draft.
     * Dress blues: government-issued costume.
     * Troop surge: escalation of a war we are losing.
     * Flying sorties: bombing civilians and their property.
     * Stationed overseas: helping to maintain the U.S. global empire of troops
and bases.
     * Enhanced interrogation techniques: torture by the United States.
     * Extraordinary rendition: U.S. sanctioned torture by other countries.
     * Fighting terrorism: making terrorists.
     * Fighting our enemies: making more enemies.
     * Defending our freedoms: destroying our freedoms.
     * Insurgents: foreigners who resent having their country invaded or
occupied.
     * Sanctions: killing children without bombs and bullets.
     * Military chaplain: trying to serve two masters.
     * Military appreciation service: idolatry.
     * Praying "God bless our troops": blasphemy.
     * Supporting the troops: supporting foreign invasions and occupations.
     * Precision bombing: civilian killer.
     * Cluster bomb: child civilian killer.
     * Land mine: American IED.
     * Terrorist: someone who plants a bomb that doesn't wear an Air Force
uniform.
     * Enemies of the United States: countries that oppose U.S. hegemony.
     * Enemy combatant: someone turned over to U.S. troops in Afghanistan by
someone eager to collect a bounty.
     * Axis of evil: countries with oppressive governments that our oppressive
government doesn't like.
     * Allies: countries with oppressive governments that our oppressive
government likes.
     * Anti-Semite: someone who opposes U.S. military intervention in the Middle
East.
     * Military recruiter: pimp for duped young men who want to sell their
services to the government.
     * Bomber pilot: long-distance killer.
     * Persistent conflict: perpetual warfare.
     * U.S. interests: an excuse to police the world.
     * U.S. foreign policy: imperialism.
     * National security: national police state.
     * Collateral damage: the slaughter of unarmed civilians by American bullets
and bombs.
     * Die for our freedoms: die for a lie.
     * War hawk: warmonger.
     * Regime change: meddling in the affairs of other countries.
     * Congressional supporters of large military budgets: pimps to hook up
government and defense contractors.
     * Military spokesman: military propagandist.
     * Commander in chief: the chief war criminal.

I'm sure there are other words and terms that have been or will be devised or
brought to bear to justify the actions of the U.S. military. Reject them, and
denounce them for what they are: military doublespeak.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!
" What would have happened if millions of American and British people,
struggling with coupons and lines at the gas stations, had learned that in 1942
Standard Oil of New Jersey [part of the Rockefeller empire] managers shipped the
enemy's fuel through neutral Switzerland and that the enemy was shipping Allied
fuel? Suppose the public had discovered that the Chase Bank in Nazi-occupied
Paris after Pearl Harbor was doing millions of dollars' worth of business with
the enemy with the full knowledge of the head office in Manhattan [the
Rockefeller family among others?] Or that Ford trucks were being built for the
German occupation troops in France with authorization from Dearborn, Michigan?
Or that Colonel Sosthenes Behn, the head of the international American telephone
conglomerate ITT, flew from New York to Madrid to Berne during the war to help
improve Hitler's communications systems and improve the robot bombs that
devastated London? Or that ITT built the FockeWulfs that dropped bombs on
British and American troops? Or that crucial ball bearings were shipped to
Nazi-associated customers in Latin America with the collusion of the
vice-chairman of the U.S. War Production Board in partnership with Goering's
cousin in Philadelphia when American forces were desperately short of them? Or
that such arrangements were known about in Washington and either sanctioned or
deliberately ignored?"-- Charles Higham, researcher, about U.S.-Nazi
collaboration during WWII

Alleged Fort Hood shooter Malik Nadal Hasan is alive
November 5
Malik Nadal Hasan is alive and in stable condition. Hasan first said to have
been killed was wounded but alive and in stable condition under military guard,
said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood. "I would say his death is not imminent,"
Cone said.
Col. Ben Danner said the suspect was shot four times and was in critical
condition.
Army psychiatrist Malik Nadal Hasan allegedly opened fire at Fort Hood Army base
Thursday killing 12 people and wounding 31 others. Hasan, a 39-year-old from
Virginia, was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq on Nov. 28.

Witnesses, "More than one shooter"
The killed gunman was absolutely identified as Hasan and declared dead by
officials, even to the satisfaction of the FBI. By what criteria the ID? Notice
Hasan is referred to as the "suspected" gunman. Why "suspected" as to ID?
Because they knew he really wasn't the real Hasan? But they did expect Hasan to
be dead, too, only he wasn't. Also, the FBI (Suits) were on hand to spirit away
the other probable shooters. Hasan has been framed.

Gunman a mind controlled double for Major Hasan ?
Major Hasan is single with no family. Had he died when shot, no one was
available to identify him, so he could have easily been used as a dead patsy. He
could easily have been made out to be the shooter who was killed and who may
have actually shouted the claimed"Allahu Akbar!" No one would have been wiser.
Except Hasan is still alive and can now be truly identified. So the dead shooter
can't be Hasan now, even though he was so identified on the spot.

Army Says 12 Dead, 31 Wounded in Fort Hood Shooting (Update4)
By Anthony Capaccio and Viola Gienger
Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Twelve people were killed and 31 were wounded by at least
one gunman who opened fire on the grounds of Fort Hood Army Base in Texas, the
U.S. military said.

The suspected shooter, a soldier, was killed, Lieutenant General Robert Cone,
commander of III Corps at the base, said at a press conference.

"We do not know" what the motive was, Cone said. WITNESSES REPORTED SEEING "MORE
THAN ONE SHOOTER," HE SAID.

At least one other soldier is in custody. Two others who were apprehended after
the initial shooting were cleared, according to Christopher Haug, a public
affairs officer at the base who was interviewed on CNN.

The suspected gunman who was killed has been identified as Major Nidal Malik
Hasan, said a defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"The FBI is on the scene and is working with the Army to determine what took
place, Special Agent Erik Vasys, a spokesman for the San Antonio Field Office,
whose territory includes Fort Hood, said in an interview."

And a reminder that there were 2 more suspects that are being rubbed out of the
media reporting now. They are pushing really hard, "only one shooter," and he is
a Muslim. Also the shooting began in one place; then moved to another. Here is
the earlier report about the other two shooters:

Second Gunman In Custody At Army's Fort Hood -Report
A second gunman is in custody after a shooting at the Army's Fort Hood in Texas
in which at least seven people were killed and 12 wounded, reports KCEN-TV of
Waco. The report comes about two hours after a first suspect was captured,
shortly after gunfire broke out.
Authorities say the gunmen were dressed in fatigues, though it's not confirmed
whether they are militarypersonnel. It's also not known if the victims were
military personnel or civilians.
The incident reportedly began at Fort Hood's theater and then moved to the
Soldier Readiness Processing Center, Killeen City Public Information Officer
Hillary Shine told Fox News. A graduation ceremony was scheduled to take place
Thursday.
