Christianity and society is for discussion of society, culture and social issues from any Christian perspective.

It may include art, literature, music, politics and ethics, war and peace, and the ways in which the values of wider society affect Christians, or Christian responses to social, political or cultural developments. There is some overlap with topics studied by missiologists, but the emphasis here is on current missiology, rather than seeing it from a historical point of view.

The picture for the forum shows a gateway, because the subject matter links two different things: Christianity and Society, Church and World, Heaven and Earth.

Participants in the discussions should bear in mind that others may come from different cultures and Christian backgrounds, so please do not assume that everyone will know what you are talking about, and be prepared to explain references to places, organisations, and cultureal things like TV shows, food, and restaurant chains, which may be familiar to you, but will not necessarily be familiar to someone belonging to another denomination on another continent.

You should also be prepared to explain your own Christian background and tradition: Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Congregational, Lutheran, Methodist, Orthodox, Presbyterian, Zionist or whatever.

Please refrain from "flaming", that is, personal attacks on other participants. You may disagree vigorously with opinions expressed, but attack the opinions, not the holders of the opinions.
