The mission of the Chouteau grotto is, in part, to "promote the preservation of caves, watershed areas, conservation of caves and their natural content; to promote good will with land owners and land managers."
MEETING: Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 1 at 7:00 pm in the Columbia Public Library, 100 W Broadway (Broadway & Garth), first floor Conference Rooms. Following the meeting will be a program on knots and rope for climbing and caving. Please note that the AUGUST 5 meeting will be at the Rock Bridge State Park office as the library is unavailable that day.
AMENDMENT: We had additional revisions to one of the proposed amendments at the June meeting. The revised version reads as follows and will be voted on at the July meeting:
Revision to the Proposed Amendment Changes: Change Bylaws, Article
II, Section I to read "Chouteau Grotto is a dues collecting organization. Rates for regular members shall be set by majority vote of the membership at large during any regular meeting. Senior and student rates will be 75 percent of the regular rate and may be paid in semester installments. The treasurer shall record the current rate and the date the membership set that rate. Fiscal year starts January 1.
