Supposed to have been on the rolls with the Northern Cherokee, so am
assuming that would

Names that are said to be on the rolls are GILBERT (GILBERT) BRASWELL and
SARAH "SALLIE" SIMPSON. My ancestor was his aunt.

Welcome Linda,
I have been looking for an old freind from grade school. Lucy Eaton,
her mother was Lucy too and her father or maybe stepfather was J.B.
Lucy and I went to school in Chicago and she later moved back home to
Potosi MO where there were many Eatons. I know she had several brothers.
If you know Lucy, would you have her contact me? Thanks, Pitter

Your group sounds interesting. I have mixed blood ancestors in IL and
Mo who moved just ahead of removal is this a place to look for them?
Please send me details on how to join. I got this from a digest list.

Apache,
I did not mean that in a negative way, you were right on. What we have to
remember is that our people
had a lot of different spellings of the name. I too am a decendant of the
Gaines. Gann is another
spelling of it. We should always look at different spellings when we
research
. Our people sometimes
changed the spelling and many times the census taken would spell it as it
sounded.
Yes I do have roll books and would be happy to do a look up for you.
Pitter
Thank you very much Pitter your help is greatly appreciated
YOu spelt decendant wrong its Descendant LOL just kidding...
Again Thank you

I believe Gains is on the Dowells Cherokee Rolls. Send email to
asgayadidi@... and tell him that his cousin Chief Jerry Eaglefeather asked
you to e-mail him. I am almost sure Gaines is there.

Welcome to our newly formed Cherokee list. I think we will all have fun,
meet some new friends and learn something about our family history.
This is a list for genealogy and cultural discussion.
It is very new and will need alittle time to grow. Please be patient as we
begin this new adventure.
