Last Minute Notice About a Great Show Edition   Message List

I have a rare club appearance tonight at The Laugh Factory (more
info below) - but it should be a great show, so at least read on.
Schedule, as always is at the end after the cool links.

I also need to put out a feeler about two bringer shows to see if
I'd be able to get enough people.

First, Tuesday June 20 is a bringer at The Laugh Lounge on Essex St.
for lawyers and others in lawish jobs. 6 people at $12+2 drinks
(probably in the neighborhood of $25 total). The club owner is going
to watch, so it is an audition and makes this worthwhile if I can
definitely get enough people.

Second, the Comedy Cellar has started doing a 10 person bringer on
Thursday nights but the show is $5+2 drinks and will run you closer
to $15 AND I get to do a 15 minute set.

To the civilians, let me know if you think you can help me out with
either show. To the comics, I apologize for mentioning bringers.

THE (short) RAMBLE
-----------------------
In the immortal words of Biggie Smalls, Mo' money, mo' problems. Oh,
the perils of homeownership! Because I am now the sort of person who
says domestic things like "My fiancee and I bought some flowerpots
at Home Depot for our front stoop," Carrie and I bought some
flowerpots at Home Depot for our front stoop. They were squarish and
funky looking and we placed (but did not actually pot) plants in
them and set them on our stoop.

And then two days later they were gone, along with a less funky mate.

When Carrie noticed that they were missing, she immediately claimed
that she was going to jog around the neighborhood, find them on
someone else's stoop and swipe them back. Fearing that I would have
to ID her in the morgue with shards of broken flowerpot in her head,
I told her that would be a bad idea. And then, the very next day,
when walking home from the subway Carrie noticed the flowerpots -
OUR FLOWERPOTS - in the front window of a health food store AROUND
THE CORNER FROM OUR HOUSE.

When I confronted the store owner the next morning, he said (in a
Jamaican accent, that you are free to do as you are reading becuase
it is accurate (or not, if you fear that it will sound
racist)) "Someone left them in front of my store and I thought they
were so beautiful that I put them in the window." I took the
flowerpots back without incident.

I am amazed at his story, though. Those pots were heavy. Apparently
three separate people stole our flowerpots and got tired of carrying
them after walking the exact same distance. Very suspicious. From
now on I am going somewhere else for my spirulina needs.

Also, our tenant is out of money and had to be replaced with someone
more famous. Can't tell you who without permission. Enjoy the
suspense and drama!

NEWS OF THE FUTURE
-----------------------
***TONIGHT*** Thursday, June 8 @8:30PM
The Laugh Factory - http://laughfactory.com/ts
$10 + possibly a minimum
8th Ave. & 42d St.

I was offered a guest spot at the Laugh Factory a year ago and
finally got around to following up on the offer. Judah Friedlander
(from American Splendor) and Joe Matarese (Late, Late Show, Premium
Blend, lots of other TV) are the headliners, so this should be a
great show.

The LF website says the show is $20 but I was told $10. I don't know
what to tell you. Hope to see you there.

----------------------
Monday, June 12 @8:00pm
Three of Cups
no cover or minimum
1st Ave. & 5th St.

This time I am simply a player on the roster of Joe Dixon's Monday
Night Comedy @ Three of Cups. There will be music and/or improv in
addition to the stand-up. Again, more about the rest of the bill
when I know more.

-----------------------
Friday, June 16 @10:00pm
Underground Lounge
$10 + 2 drinks
107th St. & West End Ave.

The Underground Lounge has professional comedy shows in their
intimate back room on Friday and Saturday nights, run by Geoff Kole.
I am doing some light legal work for the Underground so I should be
getting more spots there in the future.

-----------------------
Saturday, June 17 @8:30pm
The Shark Show @ Mo Pitkin's House of Satisfaction
$8 cover. Minimum? I don't know.
Avenue A between 2d and 3d

This is a great, long running show and I'm very glad to be on it.
More later.

----------------------
Sunday, June 18 @8:00pm
Here's The Thing @ Rififi
no cover, 1 drink minimum
11th Street between 1st and A

Andrew Wright and Sean O'Connor have extended the Rififi comedy
franchise to Sunday night. They have developed a great following in
very little time. When I know more about the bill I'll post it here.

----------------------
Wednesday, July 05 @7:00pm
Voodoo Luau @ Otto's Shrunken Head
FREE
538 E. 14th St. between A and B.

A friend was kind enough to send me the avails list for Josh
Filipowksi's shows, so I was able to wangle a booking at Otto's
Shrunken Head. It appears that he isn't hosting this show; Neil
Charles is listed as the MC. Joshua Grosvent is bringing his guitar
for musical comedy. I join Andrew Wright, Heather Fink, Mike
Tisrklin, Mick Diflo, Raquel D'Apice, Roberta Rockwell, Ryan Boszan
in providing non-musical comedy.

---------------------
Monday, July 17 @7:30pm
Pete's Candy Store
no cover or minimum
709 Lorimer St. between Richardson and Frost (Williamsburg)

Jen Dziura hosts a bi-weekly stand-up show at Pete's Candy Store in
Williamsburg. I don't know who is on the bill but the host and the
show have good reputations. Sometimes people in Williamsburg laugh.

Hope to see you soon,
Charles
