Hi everyone,
Welcome to Jen's week of cancelations...
So anyway, no aerials workshop, Ben is unable to make it down for the
weekend. We will hopefully try to reschedule before the end of the
year, so keep your eyes peeled.
Also, the dance at LSSU has been canceled due to their band's
cancellation (what a bunch of bums...)
Sorry for any minor heartbreak due to cancelation of these events.
We can still plan a social event for either weekend if anyones
interested. Let me know if you have any ideas (jfm5@...)
Thanks and I'll see everyone on Sunday!

I've actually had requests to bring
back Jen's dreaded warmup! So I was
wondering what you guys like or don't
like about it... looking for any new
ideas you have also! You can vote more
than once, so let me know what you
think. If there's something else you'd
like to see, e-mail me at
jfm5@... and I'll see what I can
do!
o More stretches - can't get enough ballet!
o More aerobics, let's break a sweat
o More turns so we can see the fear on men's faces!
o New music, Moulin Rouge just doesn't do it for me
o Whoever's ideas the warm up was must die...

Ben from LSSU will be coming down March 15th to do an aerials
workshop with Jen. All are welcome to come and give it a try. You
need a partner and a little bit of experience (at least the basic
lesson). If you would like to dance but don't have a partner, let me
know, we already have a few people looking for partners and we can
set people up. There will be no cost for this workshop. You need to
let me know in advance if you want to attend this workshop because if
we don't have enough people signed up Ben will not make the trip (we
need to make if worthwhile for him to come all the way down here!).
We will be starting at beginner level aerials and work our way up to
a little more advanced. So, if you're interested or have any
questions, contact Jen at jfm5@... Hope to see you all there!
I'm all for performing for the International Expo. If anyone's
interested in doing so, let me know so we can email or IM over break
to get some ideas flowing. If there's interest in performing, I'll
email Steve and let him know we want to do it. I saw some fliers
around campus that said acts needed to contact him already, so I'll
fill everyone in if it's a go or not.
You can contact me via email at: miki_kaoru81@...

Hey Everbody,
Hope everyone is having a good time and happy
spring break. CMU has an International Expo on
March 16 , Sunday (2 - 6 PM). One of the committee
members of the Expo has asked me whether our swing
group is interested in performing Swing dance on the
Expo night. They saw us performing on the
International night and were pleased with the show and
are very much interested in the swing dance.
As I was occupied this semester I was not able to
attend the swing club. So if anybody is interested in
performing on the Expo night, please get in touch with
Steve. Any questions or details regarding the program,
steve will be more than happy to help you out.
I know it is a short notice from steve as well as me
but thought of informing the group.
Steve's e-mail id is: melli1se@...
Anways have fun and happy spring break.
Cheers,
Sanjay

That's right! Join us for an incredible weekend of workshops and
dancing with Detroit's very own: DEOR!
This two day workshop will consist of classes in
beginner/intermediate lindy (based on level of those attending), some
fast lindy, and Shag with a special guest instructor. Come on out and
join us!
Events will take place Saturday March 29th from 10:00am - 6:00pm and
Sunday March 30th from 10:00am - 4:00pm in Finch 113 on Central
Michigan University's campus. Campus maps can be found at
http://map.cmich.edu
Cost For Both days: $25, $20 with proof of membership
Saturday only or Sunday only: $15, $10 with proof of membership
This is so cheap!! Now you have no excuses not to be there. You can
still go to 4th friday and make it out here in time to start the
workshop, if so desired. This weekend is so going to rock!
Proof of membership of any swing-related campus organization (such as
SSS or Swing Kids) qualifies you for the discount.
There will be a dance following the workshop on Saturday from 8:00pm -
midnight and a possible late night following that. Both will be DJed
and free of charge. So if you can't make the workshops, you are still
invited to come out and dance with us.
Housing will also be available upon request both friday and saturday
nights. To request housing, contact the Swing Kids at
centralswingclub@... and be sure to specify which nights you
want to be housed.
For more information, contact the Swing Kids at the address above,
or contact myself at amos_lynn@...
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

quote from Deor himself:
"Oh my gosh, this workshop is going to be RAD! I'm hittin' up on
aaaaall the good essentials of good lead and follow with style. None
of these frilly moves and patterns for those who want to spend time
counting their syncopation timings during practice and all. This is
down-right raw lindy hop and shag. SHAG, you say? Collegiate
Shag...not Carolina"
For those who didn't go you missed out big time. And for those of you
who went, but didn't get to watch the battle, this is what you missed

Just thought I'd share. I had a great time, and thank you all for
your support, even if you weren't able to be there in person.

Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that this Sunday (Feb 9th), we will NOT be having our
regular dance meeting and lessons. For those of us who will be back
in town from the Big 3, we will be going to the Dance Umbrella
performance. It is in Plachta (Warriner hall) at 3:00 and 8:00 pm.
The performance is free and you don't need tickets and you don't need
to dress up! It is sorta like the Orchesis dance performance, but it
is all student choreographed. There is a variety of ballet, jazz,
modern and even hip-hop! It should be a good show and you get to see
me in a pink tu-tu (what more could you ask for, right?) If you have
any questions, you can reach me at 773-3593. Hope to see you all at
the performance!

night (and morning) of dancing, movies and giddy fun. Feel free to
wear your jammies, bring your pillows, blankets, stufties, movies
you like and whatever else would be fun. If you want to come late
and need directions to Mandys or a ride or anything, e-mail us.
Please let us know if you plan on coming so we know how many people
to wait for before leaving for Fazolis- email us at

What I'm looking for here are some overly-enthusistic swing lovers
that want to share their wealth of knowledge with others. For the
moment we are restricting our lessons to a crash course basic east
coast, mainly due to lack of trainers. However, we are always
looking at expanding. Any one who is interested in partaking in the
wonderfulness of seeing my bright sunshiningface every week, please
contact me...773-4837...or by rely to my message. Thank you so very
much!
Mandy
Your wonderful dance coordinator
PS for all of you outta towners that are interested in showing us a
thing or two of your moves, feel free to contact me as well. We're
always looking for fresh blood!!
Just wanted to let you know that Spartys has moved to Wednesdays.
Nothing that MSU swingers could do about it, they have to go with
what the club decided. Sorry if this changes anyones plans, but
we'll still try to make trips down there this semester!
Hey everyone! Hope you had a fabulous vacation! I sure did...dancing
in Cleveland one weekend and spending New Years in Windsor.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that if they are
interested in events going on around Detroit and other areas (such as
Ohio or exchanges) there is now a website/forum for our area's scene.
Check it out at www.dtownstomp.com
