Description

This group is a place for all rockhounds, mineral collectors, fossil hunters and lapidary and jewelry artists on the Central Coast of California to meet and exchange stories, tips, collecting sites, etc. We particularly welcome members of the Santa Lucia Rockhounds, San Luis Obispo Gem and Mineral Club, and the Orcutt Mineral Society and would like to see this become their home email list. Anything relating to the hobbies of rockhounding (amateur geology), mineral collecting, fossil hunting, lapidary and jewelry art is welcome here provided it is not too "out there in left field" or unrelated to matters relevant to these hobbies. Please feel free to ask questions, post field trip reports, or just chat about rocks.

Photo is of a Deedeeite sphere. Deedeeite comes from a single location in Avila Beach. Sphere-maker is unknown. Photo by Krissa Klein.
