I truly believe we just haven't found a way to reach them or pull them out of their shell.  Until 5 my own son was considered MR.  Please you morons he is not MR, smarter than your kid probably.  But, until we did AIT and his brain kicked in, what he would show other people was so slight.  Because a lot of MR kids are non-verbal and non-verbal testing is not the greatest, especially when you have sensory/focus issues, the determination that the child is MR is just not accurate.  This is of course my humble opinion, as a Mom with a child who has autism, cerebral palsy, seizure disorder and is non-verbal.

Take Care,
Tracy

Hello to all the moms,

I am watching the CBS news right now, and I saw the coverage they did on the new CDC findings that were released to the media today. My question is, they just mentioned on the news that mental retardation is an ASD... is this true? I am not an expert on the subject but I do my homework and I've never read anything like that... It was my understanding that mental retardation is NOT considered an ASD...

I welcome your knowledge on this because I am a little confused!

Thank you,

Hey at least you now where you food is coming from! Sounds like a great idea!

It's scary about the boys and I just wish that there would be more evidence
about girls. At this point it's the not knowing...

I did like in the interview that the doctor said the early intervention is still
one of the best ways to help our kids.

Think about organic and not vaccinating. hard choice considering we don't know
what causes autism.  Just bought an earthbox for all of us who can no longer
afford organic, will grow my own dummy proof.  Have a great holiday!!!

Hi moms! 16 moms and 1 CDI dad had a very fun time last night! I am sorry that
you missed it and hopefully next year you will be able to attend. PIctures will
be posted this week!

To all the moms that came ...THANK YOU!! THANK YOU for the wonderful, delicious
food, the helping to set up, the helping to clean up and for the always
hilarious Steal/Exchange game (Way to go Dottie for stealing at the very end!!)
Thank for you for support you all give all year round to help all families at
CDI and to our honorary CDI MOMS.

May this holiday season be merry and bright. May you not stress for all the
upcoming parties and holiday festivities and remember to just breathe. Don't
sweat the small stuff and let go. May your kids have fun during the Winter Break
and may you moms and dads not have a Winter "Breakdown". Reflect on 2009 on what
your child, your children and what your family has accomplished! Share it and
embrace it... the best is yet to come!

Hello Families! Thought I would share this with you in case you were interested.

Back to Bethlehem

An outdoor re-creation of the place, time, people and events of the first Christmas. More than a nativity scene and not a play. Travel back in time and interact with the villagers as you stroll the streets of Bethlehem. Free admission.

December 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, & 21
7-9pm (Come and go anytime during these hours)

The Church at Rocky Peak
22601 Santa Susana Pass Rd.
Chatsworth, CA 91311

I went last year and the kids loved it! They got to pet animals, make butter and they paid their taxes to the mean Roman soldiers. ;P

We are going tonight! Hope to see some of you there!

Stephanie
