I like all of it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I loved this too.

I thought it was bold and grand.

It was a whole new look and feeI to Wagner - quite exciting.

I am going to the next 2 operas.

Read this one as I took a lot of junk out.

To see how Die Walkure should beg borrow or steal the Boulez/Chereau Die Walkure DVD

That was done at Bayreuth (the others in the cycle aren’t quite as good)

Siegmund/Sieglinde are done by two beautiful blond young singers that could pass for real  twins.

Their passion could melt a rock and they show what Wagner music is all about.

The current Met version with Levine is a fair choice also.

Freyer’s ugly, ugly ring belongs on another planet, one without art and beauty

Thanks, Andrew.  She is not asking to be removed from the notifications of new operas.  What’s happening is somebody started a chat, and now a lot is going on.  Is there a way we can segregate her from the chat but still keep her for the updates?

I am going to signup to attend the rest of the Los Angeles performances of the Ring.

(LA is doing the Full Ring in the coming season.)

I still have to pick up the seats for Siegfried and Gotterdammerung but to get good seats,

I'll need to wait for the subscription cancellations a week or two beforehand.

At Casa Itialiana, I'll be attending La Boheme.  Looking forward to that warhorse.

Yes. He was just before caruso and this man could sing and act.He was known for his total performances because he had the gift of capturing the literature and the sense of it through music and was supposedly a great actor. he was a lyric tenor that sand everything  because he could use all his voice, dynamics and colors due to a great technique that could carry over and through a Wagner opera as well.I have his bio, facinating.

Sounds familiar.  A tenor from by gone days.  19th Century?

On the Wagner, I saw the Production by Director, Achim Freyer.

Incredibly creative.

Yes, Wagner was a master. Not many understand how lyrical his music is and consider only the extremes in the orchestra and the poor singers who try to compete with a Wagnerian acc that should be just that,  broad instumental support. Have you ever heard of Jean de Reske?

Thanks, Andrew.  She is not asking to be removed from the notifications of new operas.  What’s happening is somebody started a chat, and now a lot is going on.  Is there a way we can segregate her from the chat but still keep her for the updates?

I am going to signup to attend the rest of the Los Angeles performances of the Ring.
(LA is doing the Full Ring in the coming season.)

I still have to pick up the seats for Siegfried and Gotterdammerung but to get good seats,
I'll need to wait for the subscription cancellations a week or two beforehand.

At Casa Itialiana, I'll be attending La Boheme.  Looking forward to that warhorse.

We operate as an ensemble, with singers alternating in chorus, comprimario
and lead roles. There are always too many sopranos and not enough tenors,
so there's plenty of opportunity, and in addition you can always cover roles
you like and sing them in rehearsal if the cast member is delayed or absent.
You're welcome to join us for Butterfly rehearsal this Sunday if you can,
and to sing an aria for Mr. Leonetti and discuss future solo roles (he will
expect you to sell some tickets if you sing a lead).

We are meeting at 2:00 at 902 N. Screenland Drive in Burbank, in a studio at
the rear of the house (go through the gate at left). It is one block west
of Hollywood Way and between Verdugo and Magnolia. We also will meet Monday
evening at Casa Italiana at 7:30 to continue staging. As you know, the
tenors do not sing a great deal in Butterfly, so I would expect you can
catch up quickly.

Phyllis

PS I'm trying to remember if I've ever met a tenor I would consider Mature.
