Restoration Camp Participants you have been great! You have helped
us work on some difficult projects over the short time span of this
camp, and it is with this in mind that it makes the next statement
difficult for me to announce.
NOTICE Effective January 20th, it was announced that the annual
Crawlathon at Carter Caves will be cancelled by the Dept. of Parks
and the US Dept of Fish & Wildlife to prevent the continuing spread
of the WNS that has been affecting bats in the NE US. The
announcement of the cancellation of Crawlathon has brought the
question of the possibility of if the same fate will be true for the
Restoration Camp, however not confirmed at this time, it can be
expected that the same fate will happen this year with our camp.
It is uncertain how this WNS is spreading and due to the success of
our camp and the distance some of you travel it can be expected now
that it would be in your best interests not to be making travel
arrangements in anticipation of planning on attending this event in
March.
Stay tuned for more information as it is made available to us
regarding the situation at Carter Caves and the broader issue
regarding WNS.
