The Guardian reports on a new and growing phenomenon: rich countries
buying farmland out from under poor farmers in the developing world,
to grow crops (and BIOFUELS!) for export:

Many of the targeted countries already can't feed themselves, and of
course environmental concerns are likely to be laughed off as the
chemicals rain--on someone's else's head. The fat keep getting
fatter, the cars keep driving, the poor keep dying....
