Description

This is a group for people who would like to convert card stock models of ships and boats into waterproof working models of ships and boats.
For copyright information, go to the files section for advice provided by David Hathaway, the "Paper Shipwright."

Here is one of David's kits, featured on the cover of Marine Modelling International for December 2009. The issue contains a free kit for this ship with full instructions by David. The finished ship is 5" long and a perfect introduction to card modelling. To convert it for the water, it needs an additional hull below the waterline - experimenting with balsa sheet and a weight equivalent to the card boat + mechanism would soon give a result. I reckon it could be radio controlled using a modified r/c servo as the motor, but on a boat this small a little low voltage motor would be fine.

I've put a temporary link to the magazine's website at the foot of this Home Page.
