we just returned from this resort a week ago. it is just wonderful!! we ate
all the food and drank the water...everything!! no one got sick..and I was very
nervous that would happen with everything I had read! the Cajun restraunt had
great food along with several others. the buffets are enormous!!!and that is an
understatement!! the service is A++ and the staff is super friendly! as far as
beauty...it is like a palace! it is very big but there are trolleys every 15 min
that take you around. Book your meal reservations for your stay when you first
get there to ensure your spot!! the shows got a little stale toward the end of
our stay but the bartenders in Iberostar beach(next door and also included with
the Del Mar and your stay) make up for it!! the detail is amazing..the grounds
are immaculate and I would recommend this trip to anyone!! it was heaven on
earth!!!!! I hope you get a chance to experience this resort!! also...the beach
is groomed daily and beautiful...these people go oout of there way to make this
a trip to remember for a lifetime!!

The Grando Lido is a far more expensive, upscale property (I have had complaints
on the Grand Lido being run down though & not worth the money), the Blue Bay
Club is defintely not in the same class as the Lido (3 star BBC to 6 star Grand
Lido). Yep, the BBG is a party place though.

Hi, I'm a travel agent that had clients staying at the sister property Iberostar
Paraiso Beach, next door, during the Xmas holidays and due to overcrowding at
the Paraiso Beach/Del Mar; they were sent to the Lindo to eat. They loved the
food, thought the resort was very large, but considering it's sold out the time
you're going (from Chicago); I think you'll enjoy the always good Iberostar
product, the new Lindo.

I was just looking for some opinions on this resort. My wife and I
are booked to go there at the end of March. Are there anything that
we should not miss out on, in regards to on property or off
property. Also I have heard that it is not a bad idea to tip some
of the bar staff for better drinks is that true? What are people's
opinions on the food at the resort?
We have been to the Grand Lido clubs a few times and been very happy
with our accommodations and entertainment, for anyone who have been
to both is that something that we should expect?
Thanks
J

It's a budget hotel on the lagoon side of the Cancun strip. You got what you
paid for, as front desk for upgraded room when checking in.

Actually, air was pretty good too.... Again, using loyalty program stuff. $550
for two people, LAX to CUN on Alaska Air. I always book using promotional
stuff. The trick seems to be a willingness to book WAY in advance (at least 6-9
months). We got a room in Bali that normally goes for $400 for $140, Rio that
normally goes for $450 for $220, etc. The loyalty promotions work. You need to
check their websites almost daily and snag them when you get the chance.
Tenacity pays off!

I have NO idea - you're guess is as good as mine. I simply responded to ones
email regarding the Fiesta Americana Hotel and how my fiance walked along their
beach while we were there in Cancun a few weeks ago and how gorgeous it was.
That was what came up next. I didn't even reply to one of her emails, it was
somebody totally different. Don't have a clue as to where that came from. Sorry!
I hope you are not putting blame on me......

Wow! $179 at the JW? That's fantastic!! I was just there (got back 2 weeks ago
today ) and the best I could get was $303/night, breakfast included (and let me
tell you, that was great because the buffett per person was $24! Yikes). It was
some Visa Promotion. I booked over 6 months in advance AND had the Marriotts
Reward thing. Well, anyway - CONGRATS! What a great deal! You are going to LOVE
it! It is absolutely unbelievable. The BEST place I have ever stayed. Wait til
you sit next to the pool and literally overlook the ocean. Magnificant!

$179/night! Hope that helps...

much breakfast can one person eat! Does anyone know if the Am
Fiesta Grand C.B. has has place where you can just get coffee and a
bagel or something? I'm not a big breakfast person prefer to pig
out at an early lunch and late dinner.

Wow, that is a great deal, and during Spring Break it's almost unbelievable as
there's always blackout dates for the Promotions Programs during holidays and
Spring Break, etc.. I bet air wasn't that cheap, or you're really lucky!

Subject: there are some really good deals right now.

Im just your average poor college kid but, I love to have my fun at
the same time. I dont need the fanciest hotels or the best food, Im
the "gimme the beach, Island tan and a six-pack" guy you see with a
lobster tan and a smidge of sunscreen on his nose listening to Jimmy
Buffet (or allen ross) with a smile on his face sitting alone on a 2$
beach chair... lol.
All that to say, I searched high and low on the internet and
finally found an awesome deal at "springbreakdirect.com". I got
roundtrip air from Kansas City to Cancun and 7 nights in
the "Acquasol" for 644$. They even through in the "parrty package"
where I get all my meals for free and all the alcohol I can stomach
at the hotel between 10am and 11pm for free too.
I dont know much about cancun but as long as i have a bed, shower
and free beer... 644 sounds like a sweet deal to me.
Can anyone fill me in on the Acquasol or anything to check out on
a cheap bdget there...?
thanks,
Tommy(the new guy)

Wow, that is a great deal, and during Spring Break it's almost unbelievable as
there's always blackout dates for the Promotions Programs during holidays and
Spring Break, etc.. I bet air wasn't that cheap, or you're really lucky!

Wow, I can't believe breakfast buffett's are $24 per person! How
much breakfast can one person eat! Does anyone know if the Am
Fiesta Grand C.B. has has place where you can just get coffee and a
bagel or something? I'm not a big breakfast person prefer to pig
out at an early lunch and late dinner.

It has a small beach but there are beaches north of it
and south...There is a deck that you can lay on and it
is over the ocean...It has split level pools with
waterfalls, oceanview hammocks and exotic gardens..

Hi Chris,

Another way is to book your package all together (air, hotel, transfers) unless
you have frequent flier miles. You really save alot more purchasing packages
sometimes. Linda

Find a travel agent, or go to the local library or look on the internet. $100 a
nite won't put you in the tourist zone probably.

Did everyone forget that Cancun is a built for tourist
city?? Its the Las Vegas of Mexico, so of course it is
hard to find Real Mexico hidden here...

But as for budget traveling, you can come here and
spend very little if you stay away from the 5 star
mega resorts and the high priced resteraunts.
