Just a thought I would like to pass on.



I have a good friend and colleague in the Canadian Forces who has just returned from Kosovo.

We sat and talked last night about his tour of duty, some of the things he has seen and about some of his experiences.

The stories he related had both of us close to tears.



In our safe and secure environment it is hard to imagine some of the terrible things that are happening in this world.

Here at home, politicians debate whether or not our servicemen and women should be so involved in these costly peacekeeping missions.

There is often heated discussion as to why our soldiers should be ‘over there’.



My friend, stationed in the back of beyond, asked himself these same questions time and time again.



He found the answer in the eyes of the people who needed his help and protection.

He found the answer in the eyes of frightened children.



No matter what strange language these people spoke, they all knew one familier word, 'Canada'.
