Yahoo!

I'm just so thrilled that I have
found you! I'm a Florida Cracker that that loves
cooking, cast iron, camping, and last but not least,
eating! Yes, it shows! :) I spend my weekday’s
homeschooling our two girl’s, their teaching me everything they
know, and day dreaming about our next camping
adventure. We cook up a storm, from morning till dusk,
everyday at our home. The girls are learning young how to
run a proper kitchen! They love to camp and often
help to plan our trips. We are the camping family that
everyone in our county tags along with, because we take
camping so serious. We are tenters and often do without
any modern comforts, much to our followers dimay! We
are planning for our regular week in the woods over
Thanksgiving where I'll become Martha Stewart of the Woods,
Florida Cracker Style, and whip them up a meal to really
be thankful for! Then we will start our plan for the
Christmas and New Year expedition. As I stated above, it
really thrills my heart to have wandered upon ya'll! I
will look forward to getting to know each of you, and
watching this group grow.
Blessings,
Florida

Howdy, Cap'n, The Tater Pancakes are a favorite.
We also make them from leftover mashed taters. They
are good to carry to the field or fishing. I am glad
to see you here with a lighter load. I will work up
some posts for you from the old family cooking cards.

Is there room around that cabin or on the porch
for my big ole rocker. I have a couple of throw
pillows I stuff in the corners to cushion the shart
edges. I have got me a rush job on a baby afghan that I
need to work on and I thought I would sit and listen
to some camping stories while I was doing that. This
is a "rush" baby afghan cause this baby showed up
all unannounced via the adoption route. Four days old
and just came to live among the clan of Dee's family.
The proud parents are wonderful people and will give
that pretty little girl a wonderful life.

I
also have a request. I have been hearing stories from
folks about alligators being up all over the place.
Now, I has got this little farm pond, not stream fed,
but the woodlands to the east do drain into it. Can I
gets me any alligators that way? I just needs to know
this. I already done witnessed for myself that cotton
mouths do swim in this pond in the breeding season. I
can handle that ok. But I really am afeared of them
alligators. So I needs me some answers. How about
it.

Charlene

Hey Cap!! Thanks for letting us know where you'd
gone. Was down Monday & Tuesday with a bit of a flu
type bug... logged on Wednesday and lo & behold
everyone has disappeared : ) If nothing else convinces me
that Mom's have no business getting sick, then this
sure will :)

Well one of the things I wass
hoping to find in your club was that everyday white
bread recipe of yours. I gave out all my copies at the
last campout & with us going again this weekend, I was
hoping you had time to post it again.

Also, can
the recipe be doubled, tripled, septupled:) , or
should each batch be mixed seperately.

thank you
so much,

Suzy

PS -- anybody
near Michigan looking for camping opportunities this
weekend, I could always use an extra hand when cooking for
the "cubbies" aka. cub scouts. D-bar-A Scout Ranch is
about an hour north of Detroit. Come on along, we have
a roster of 56 scouts & parents this weekend.

Besides! He might just be the Chili God!
Ain't I ain't
gonna mess with that!

This Nifty chili has some
History behind it, a lot of History!

This all
started about 30 years ago! While I am not an
Archaeologist, or Anthologist, I am interested in
chili
peppers and where they came from and who used them
first!

This quest for the primitive chili head has led
me down many strange paths! Some of these paths led
to
Mexico, the Yucatan, and on into Central America.
Most of these routes end up bumping into the Maya
Culture!

In the ruins of a Maya city, deep in the jungle,
I ran across a picture carved into the wall of a
temple or
building of some sort. This showed a
person dressed up kinda fancy kneeling in front of a low
table and
eating something out of a bowl, and there
was smoke coming out of this person's head! (no
joke!)

Now, as I have already said, I ain't no ologist
like I done already spelled up above! But, this seemed
to
me and my untrained mind to be a guy eating some
mighty hot chili! From what I was told this
picture-graph was made around 100 to maybe 300 AD! Now you got
to admit, this is a pretty early chili
head!

Also on the wall of this building was that funny
writing they use that drew my interest! I took a
picture
of it and took it back to Texas for a friend of
mine at A&M to decypher, if he could--the results
were
not surprising to me! It was a chili
recipe!

To more modern times

A while back, Mark
sent me a Cajun Chili recipe! This recipe uses Cajun
stuff and some TexMex stuff
to make chili! I told
Mark at the time, I would try to cook this chili when
I had time.

Well! I kinda done it! I
starter with the best of intentions and worked up the
meat, then got to thinking
about my old chili pal
Qukapanew, so I throwed some of his stuff in that pot, then
I got to leaning a little
TexMex and bent that
recipe some more to my way of thinking!

Hold on
Now! I think that this is the normal way of building a
chili anyway! How many folks out there
cook chili
and do exactly what da recipe sezs? Nobody!

I'm runnin' out of room! Recipe cont new post!(C)
