It is with great pleasure I announce that the Cambrian Board of Trustees has selected Deborah L Blow, Ed.D. as the finalist for the position of District Superintendent. Dr. Blow becomes only the fifth superintendent in the history of the Cambrian School District.  "We are truly excited to have Dr. Blow as our new superintendent. The Board is very impressed with the depth of her experience, her reputation for her belief in people and inspiring others to do their best, and her desire to maintain a visible, accessible and approachable presence throughout the District."

Dr. Blow was selected from an outstanding field of candidates.  She comes to the Cambrian School District from the Encinitas Union School District where she has worked for the past 15½ years. Since July 2005, she has served as assistant superintendent of educational services. Prior to assuming this position she provided leadership as principal of La Costa Heights Elementary School and was the founding principal of El Camino Creek Elementary school. She was a teacher and assistant principal in the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District before joining the Encinitas team.

A native of Wyoming, Dr. Blow earned a bachelor's degree in Music Education and a master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Wyoming, and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of La Verne. She has 29 years experience in education, 21 in California, and has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent at various districts in three states, Wyoming, Utah, and California. Her teaching experience spans kindergarten through high school aged students.

Under Dr. Blow's leadership both La Costa Heights and El Camino Creek Elementary schools were recognized as California Distinguished Schools for the first time. La Costa Heights was also awarded the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award during her tenure at the school. Dr. Blow has been recognized twice as the Encinitas Union School District Administrator of the year, and most recently was awarded the Bravissimo award from the San Diego Educational Theater Association for her work in the visual and performing arts.

The Board intends to approve Dr. Blow's contract at their next public meeting at 7:30 pm on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at the Cambrian District Board Room. The Board would like you to join us as we introduce her to the Cambrian Staff and community at their meeting on June 23rd.

The Board would like to thank those of you who provided guidance in this selection.  Your comments and suggestions were extremely helpful.  We had a strong field of well-qualified candidates.  We are excited about the leadership and background our new superintendent brings to our district and look forward to working with her.  We hope that you will also be excited about welcoming Dr. Blow to the Cambrian family.
